First Look: Angelina Jolie in Salt

salt first look

Columbia Pictures has released the first two photos of Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt in Phillip Noyce’s thriller Salt. The film tells the story of a CIA officer who is outed as a Russian sleeper spy, and must evade capture by those who are convinced she’s aiming to assassinate the president. The photos aren’t much to look at, just Jolie wearing different color wigs — definitely nothing we haven’t seen before.

Described as Alias meets James Bond / Jason Bourne, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says the film is “a reality-based spy movie with action set pieces as thrilling as the most crowd-pleasing movies of this genre.” But while the Jason Bourne series asks the question “Who Am I?,”  Bonaventura says “the question of Salt is, ‘We know everything about her, but do we?’ [Her pursuers] have a ton of information to act on, but that’s where they begin to question what is real and what isn’t.” He continues:

“People who think they know the real her may or may not. Those who think they can tell whether she’s in a disguise also may or may not. You’re supposed to be kept guessing. She tells you her agenda, but are you supposed to believe it?”

At least when you bring Angelina Jolie in to take the lead from Tom Cruise you don't have to recast the love interest.
  • Hopefully this will be good.
  • i DEMAND one.
  • yeah, her age is starting to catch up to her, but she looks great in the photos.

I can't wait for this movie.
Looks like it will be good
  • I still think they should have kept Cruise as the lead role. I'm sick of Jolie in these action parts, but the cast around her looks like this movie will be pretty damn good.

    OMG! She's a chameleon! I couldn't tell the difference.
  • I take it that her disguised persona to the right is "Peppa."
  • Glad to see that she looks slightly less emaciated than normal in these photos. I don't think she's gained any weight or anything, but I think at times it can be really obvious how weird she looks for being so thin (Changeling, and in real life/red carpet). But this looks like the good ol' Jolie from back in the Girl, Interrupted days - still ridiculously thin, but not as scarily so (although she was scary for different reasons back then).

And, on a less objective note: I loved her in Wanted, and she's always bad ass in any action role, so I'm sure this will an awesome movie.

  • I agree, I like Jolie thicker and more curvy better than the skinny twig look she's been sporting lately. I love her in WANTED as well.

More actress need to do some actions movie like weaver in the alien franchise and thurman in kill bill not a facking dramas in every movie they do.
  • "Described as Alias meets James Bond / Jason Bourne"

I'd say the original script leaned toward the crazy ass stunts of Transporter than anything realistic found in those other films.
  • Sounds like it could be good, lets hope they can deliver...
  • I LOVE her and I'm so proud we have a mainstream female action star.
  • She looks good even in boring wigs. I wonder, will this have a WANTED-esque ass shot?
  • Jolie never ceases to amaze me! she can pull of a old worried woman! but then she can amazangly still like sexy in a tottaly different movie
