alfred molina scorcerer apprentice

I have just gotten word that Walt Disney Pictures has cast Alfred Molina in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Nicolas Cage stars in a modern-day, New York City-set adaptation of the classic story from Fantasia. Jay Baruchel stars as Cage’s Apprentice, who gets into trouble when the broomstick he’s tasked to do his chores while the Sorcerer is away somehow develops a mind of its own. Molina will play an evil sorcerer.

Jon Turteltaub reteams with his National Treasure star. Molina just finished another Bruckheimer production, a big epic video game adaptation Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Teresa Palmer is also on board to play Baruchel’s love interest. Last I heard, the production was gearing up to shoot in New York City later this month.

  • huh?
  • I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this movie. I guess I hope it doesn't resemble Fantasia at all, having such fond memories of it.
  • The only thing that scares me is Nic Cage being the lead. :/
  • cage hasn't been in a good film in a while. i don't want to watch him in a disney flick at all.
  • The worst sentence I will ever read on /Film:

"Nicolas Cage stars in modern-day New York City-set adaptation of the classic story from Fantasia."

Just everything about that is wrong.
  • Cool, I guess?
  • oh yeah, so it's another REMAKE? morons.
  • Love this guy, so my interest in this just shot way up. I wasn't interested at all to begin with though, so my interest level still isn't that high. Will wait to hear more.
  • wrong. Nicolas Cage is the best human being ever in the history of life. He is a comedic mastermind of epic proportions. and he doesn't even try. talent. he should be in every movie.
  • Thank you for reversing my stance and showing me the light!
  • Skylar
I kind of believe I am the best human being ever in the history of life, and I'll be acting along side him, in this one! :)
  • golgo
I sat in on a cast reading of the latest script version... the script is not very good...
  • Ah. Too bad.
  • I know right. I'm sooooo convincing. But seriously this movie has the potential to take unintentional hilarity and wtfery to new realms. Don't fear it, embrace it. The only Nic Cage entity that looks more promising is Season of the Witch. And that's because he's playing a medieval knight with a fur cape.
  • Wouldn't it be awesome if Cage wore Mickey ears in the movie. You know, kinda like the ones you buy at Disneyland? It would have Nick on the top, too. That would probably be the best thing about the movie.
  • lol, Nickey Mouse.
