Denzel is one of my favorite actors. I didnt even know about this movie until today (Dec. 31) but it seems like it is going to be Oscar material. Personally, I thought Denzel should have gotten an Oscar long before Training Day, which wasn't one of my favorites.

Someone said they thought the photo was that of Danny Glover? You can't be serious...

For all of those who have been speculating the fate of this movie, relax. The Book of Eli is going to be amazing! As opposed to those who have based their opinions solely on trailers and interviews, I am familiar with the script and have actually been on set during filming. As expected, Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman are amazing. The Hughes Brothers have brought their unique directing style, setting the Book of Eli apart from other post-apolcalyptic films. This is not just another genere movie. In addition to an extremely talented cast and crew, the storyline is also deep, leaving the auidence thinking. For all you naysayers, just wait until January, you'll see......

You can go to town of carrizozo.org and check out some pics. of the lot they are building to start shooting March 6,7 and 9-13. The production crew and cast should be arriving here in my hometown any day now to start filming in Carrizozo on those dates. They had over 700 extras apply and they took only about 100 extras for these dates!

I went to the casting call here in New Mexico as that is where the majority of the movie will be shot. Denzell is one of my favorite actors. They will start shooting less than 70 miles from where i live and rumor has it the cast and production crew will be staying here in my hometown and traveling back and forth to the location. I think the movie will be awesome.

It's about time that the Hughes Brothers put aside any differences and made a new film. I've been a fan of theirs for years. Dead Presidents should have been nominated for an Oscar.
  • Are we seeing shades of Walter Miller's "A Canticle for Leibowitz" with this film?
  • This seems really similar to Stephen King's The Stand to me.
  • looks good to me. i'm glad to see denzel taking a chance with something like this.
  • One of the worst movie titles of 2010?
  • No.
  • looks interesting. trailer?
  • Agreed. I hope Denzel Washington is as kick ass in this movie as he was in Training Day.
  • First I have learnt of this project, but I have faith in the Hughes Brothers who have shown themselves to be competent filmmakers with the small, selective projects they have already handled. Next stop, a teaser/trailer.
  • *Spoiler alert*

    It's Fallout: The Movie!
  • Why did that description sound so generic? Oh yeah, because it is. Now, I don't know to much about Eli, but this premise doesn't catch me. Still, I'm hoping for the best.

the script was okay... some inconsistent/cliche characters and convoluted plot (i sound so pompous now) but the potential for some cool action was good.
  • To be honest... I thought that was Danny Glover.

Fun fact: The screenwriter of this movie (Gary Whitta) is the former editor-in-chief for PC Gamer magazine. He still frequently stars on the PC Gamer podcast.
  • <3 of PCG here as well. He was on their podcast a few weeks ago and lightly spoke of this movie. Gary's a great cat.
