Director Pete Docter will have a presentation about Up at this weekend’s WonderCon in San Francisco. The Up Panel takes place from 3:30 - 4:30pm in the Moscone Center Esplande on Saturday, February 28th.

Also, Disney will be holding a screening of the first 45 minutes of the film introduced by director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera on Saturday, February 28 at 7:30 PM at the Metreon Theatre [directly across from the Moscone Center at 101 4th St.]. Please note seating is limited to the first 250 guests and interested attendees are recommended to arrive at the theatre early [No line-up prior to 5:30pm]. No cameras, phones, or recording devices will be allowed at the screening, and all must be checked at the door.

From Disney•Pixar comes UP, a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 9-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. From the Academy Award-nominated director Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc.), Disney•Pixar’s UP invites you on a hilarious journey into a lost world, with the least likely duo on Earth.

  • As a boyscout, I always carried around a bugle. ALWAYS.
  • And I'm an Eagle Scout. Probably a direct result of the bugle-readiness.
  • And responding to myself really plays into my egomania.
  • Is this kid supposed to be asian? or is it because he's really fat why his eyes look like that?
  • Hmm, I didn't even notice that...but, I would doubt he is asian, probably a fat white kid...
  • crazykid
The kid is asian. ..Geez hw dumb r u ppl??
  • this kid looks WAAAAAY too happy to be hanging onto a garden hose for dear life.
  • That's because the garden hose is attached to a tank full of nachos.
  • Woah, I really have to see the screening. Anyone know when would be a good time to head to the theater?
  • Joe
    Considering there's no line-ups allowed until 5:30... I'd say 5:29.
  • he must be hanging his mouth open to try and catch some of the cheese drip.
  • yes!! haha
  • Palmer
Oh god he's coming right at me!
  • Jim
I know this is a stupid question, but where are the parents? Is it explained in the film?
  • Marko
If you zoom in to the Russell pic you will notice he has a badge with the Luxo Star Ball on it.
  • Merlin
I knew they'd sneak in something like that on his badges!
I'm still curious about that Grape Soda cap on Carl.

My guess is that Carl's grape soda cap will be Russel's most coveted merit badge by the end of the film, and that something sentimental will happen to initiate the pass from Carl to Russel. That or Russel will cajole Carl into wearing some sort of badge on their expedition, so he'll grumpily comply and put on a soda cap.
  • Polo
    Good find!
  • sean
so this kid asian or what
  • No, he's a wigger.
  • oh i can't wait
  • Why would he have a horn. He didn't have time to pack. I mean being a scout and carrying a knife, shampoo, and a pocket knife, but a horn?
  • The horn is explained in the first 30 minutes of the film... trust me
  • Oh, that's good, I thought they just put that in the poster to fill room. Thank god.
  • Pixar has definitely come a long way and I'm excited to see what they do with the film. Animated films always excite me.
  • Dragon
Whoa my goodness! An Asian male lead character who speaks English without an accent? What da hell is this world coming to?!
  • Why are you racist?
  • Joe
They need to start advertising using that dog right now if they want to ensure a big gross. While it'd ruin some of the surprise, a cute ol' doggie ranks high above an old man and a Boy Scout in the "drawing people into theaters" category.
