Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as “The Basterds,” Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own…

Inglourious Basterds will probably premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, with a domestic release planned on August 21st 2009.

    LOOKS GREAT!
  • cineMATTic
Holy shit yes! Looks good so far from just that tiny bit. Love how he delivers that line!
    Give me moooooore!
  • Yep.

    That's the business.
  • Awesome. Although Brad's voice seems too forced and unnatural...something just didn't sit right with it...

    Can't wait though.
  • NaziScalper
I agree, but the action bits look mad-fresh!
  • It's weird, because I usually have nothing but respect for the guy, but I sort of felt the same way. It should still be good though. Also, please never say "mad-fresh" again, even for a joke.
  • I thought that for a second when I saw this, but then I thought about it in the context of a Tarantino film and realized it seemed perfect, and just the sort of thing Tarantino would make an actor do.
  • Yeah there's a reason behind it. Pitt had just finished Benjimin Button and was doing a Southern style accent, so unless he forgot all his southern accent in the few weeks transition, or QT told him to sound like that. I'll take the latter explanination any day of the week.
  • I came to the same conclusion after reading a comment below. I don't know why I didn't think of it like that at first.
  • Yep, I thought the same thing about his voice too, but the points above are food for thought and perhaps it won't feel that way while watching the movie. This is brief click and his voice is the first thing you hear, so it kind of jumps out at you.

Brad is a very delectable actor... its supposed to be forced like that... he does very well i think.
  • Well at least HE had the decency of mentioning QT. Or at least the editing people of the show.
  • Come out already!
  • This looks amazing. I'm a Tarantino-mark, I suppose, but still... amazing.
  • Teaser footage for a teaser? Damn! Better than nothing, I guess! I've been to excitied about this project for too long to say anything negative about it right now... but yes I did cringe a little at some of Brad's delivery. I'm sure in context it is going to work and rock fine
  • Its a Tarantino movie. He sounds like Earl Mcgraw's pappy. Love the minigun dolly shot...farq...I cant believe that Im gonna be able to see this soon.
  • Your saying he's being over the top on purpose? I can see that. That actually makes a lot more sense, since Brad is usually a pretty self aware actor, and usually a good one. Do you think Tarantino is oscar hunting at all with this?
  • That's what a lot of people have been questioning. It definitely seems possible.
  • you make a movie about the holocaust you win an Oscar, but you never Go full retard and it's looking like Brad went full retard on this one.

I'm thinking Tarantino had him not act good because the other supporters in this flick on the English speaking side aren't very good or well known. Eli Roth , BJ Novak, Mike Myers! I'm thinking its a Nazi Satire...

AND HELL YEAH ON THE MINI GUN DOLLY SHOT!
  • Fatguy
God help us all this looks incredible!
  • Shit!
    **creams self**
    I'm so happy!
(sorry bout the French but GOD AM I EXCITED!)
  • I really dislike the casting of Pitt for this movie. Whenever I see Pitt on screen that's exactly who i see. Can't imagine him as a character at all...plus for some odd reason his accent just doesn't sound right. But Tarantino is the man and i will have faith in his casting decision, at least till i see it for myself.
  • I'm not really sure how to feel about this. I guess it looks good, i want it to be. Like every one else, I didn't care much for pitt's accent
  • Fuck YES!
  • This is the only summer movie I'm looking forward to
  • 1. This looks absolutely incredible
    2. "Check out Brad's New Movie" I think this line is funny because it is such the line separating two sets of people. Entertainment Weekly is running it because it's "Brad's" new movie, not because it's Tarantino's. Which is hilarious. Where as we are all going to tune in to the shitty celebrity gossip show and watch it for the new Tarantino teaser.
  • fffffff
    It's Entertainment Tonight.
  • incredible, this what Im waiting for
  • optimusprime
    looks really good
  • mazizzle
    benj button Georgian accent huh
  • not enough to tell. jury's still out....
    Don't fuck this up tarantino.
  • Agreed. That last line "I want my scalps" sort of threw me into a ... "what the frak" moment.
  • Sort of. I still have plenty of faith though.
  • I do! Ever since he said he was writing this script (what, 7 or 8 years ago? maybe more). I just want the best for Tarantino, because he's talented. His last movie though was... meh. And he talked up a storm for that one. Call it holding up my guard this time around.
  • I think someone as talented as Tarantino gets to have one bad movie on his resume. Actually Grindhouse wasn't even that bad, it just didn't do well at the Box Office.
  • everyone noticed, and if everyone noticed, that means QT had to have known, and probably planned it.
  • I kinda have the feeling that they change the logo for the german version. The swastika is forbidden in germany if it is not used for documentaries and such.
  • I can't wait for the trailer.
  • Dammmit i thoguht it was a teaser...but it was a teaser for a teaser!!
    Cant wait for the trailer!
I can see this being very much marketed as a "Brad Pitt stars" in film...then again that wont be bad at all to do so
  • Yeah gotta love the teaser for the teaser trailer. I was hoping we would get more but we won't have to wait long for that.
  • Brad
Looks good and all, but I do think it's being rather rushed.
  • What you want them to do Brad, make it into a series and do some extra rehearsals? Do you work on the set?
  • cant wait for this
  • *drools*
  • (hands Angrybroomstick a napkin)
  • ah yes, I can't wait to see the teaser. I didn't mind Brad's accent, and i think it'll fit better in the context of the whole movie. Here's to hoping it's good.
  • The film look's brilliant, however I must agree with some people on here, Aldo's accent seems a little forced and doesn't exactly sound like a cold-hearted, murderous hicks voice to me, if anything it sounds a little soft...Then again I am British, so I did find it hard to distinguish certain American accents from eachother... :p
  • Well I wouldn't want him sounding like Billy Bob Thornton from sling Blade. I have to disagree with you, I've heard a few hicks in my time and his accent in no way sounds soft.

I can't wait for the full trailer so we can see just a little bit more of the movie.
  • Weyland_Yutani
I can't believe this is finally a reality. I'm just glad to have a proper Tarantino film hitting theaters. Even though Death Proof has some great things that I love, it always felt a little half-baked. It's been a while since Kill Bill.
  • Captain Obvious
As a devoted Tarantino admirer, Brad Pitt fan and lifelong Southerner, that accent seemed forced and very, very weak.
