Surrogates Teaser Poster, Viral Website Launched

This weekend at the New York Comic Con, Disney will be unveiling the first footage of Jonathan Mostow’s sci-fi comic book adaptation Surrogates. Bruce Willis stars as an FBI Agent who is sent to investigate the mysterious murder of a college student linked to the man who helped create a high-tech surrogate phenomenon that allows people to purchase unflawed robotic versions of themselves—fit, good looking remotely controlled machines that ultimately assume their life roles—enabling people to experience life vicariously from the comfort and safety of their own homes. The murder spawns a quest for answers: in a world of masks, who’s real and who can you trust?

IO9 showed up eatly at the convention hall and was able to snap this photo of this teaser banner/poster promoting a viral site for the film - chooseyoursurrogate.com. I have cleaned up the image. Head on over to the website as it’s completely functional and gives you a look at the company that provides the avatars - Virtual Self Industries.

Surrogates hits theaters on September 25th 2009.

  • Sounds kinda gay.
  • I bet Bruce Willis is a ghost! I mean a Surrogate!
  • my thoughts exactly...

im feeling some influencer from bladerunner/the 6th day and maybe even the island.

    Sounds intresting non-the-less.
  • lol. I have read the graphic novel and this is the set up- Surrogates start getting killed and basically everyone has a surrogate and they never leave there houses. They control there surrogates from home so of course everyone is fat, there surrogates are younger and better looking versions of themselves. Bruce Willis's surrogate gets killed, so basically he has to go outside and start trying to find the killer on his own. Its a pretty cool graphic novel, Willis is a good fit for the role.
  • el Jolo
It's based from a Graphic Novel and is pretty good, perfect for a movie and Bruce Willis, so go to Borders and buy it
  • That Virtual Self Industries site was weird and yet very cool with all that 3D stuff.. Worth a look..
  • Uncle MIke
This is going to be big - and I mean big! If they are advertising it now, 7 months before the release, they know they have a blockbuster on their hands.
  • That website really made me feel uncomfortable. =/ All that sky, the naked people, the music...ehhh, not on an empty stomach. But it could be a cool film, though I think this viral stuff is getting a bit old. I clicked a few times, but it didn't peek my interest enough to actually bother reading any of it. Take the trash out? Or check out the viral site more? Trash...site....trash...site? Trash wins. =D
  • how naked are they? Will I get ambushed by HR and thrown in the hole for looking at inappropriate stuff at work?
  • Honestly it's probably safe for work, haha, they're like "romance novel" naked. So you won't see anything inappropriate, but why are they like that anyway? It's really awkward feeling...like getting cloned in this film will be a really sexy experience? I don't get it.
  • I'm really excited about this project. I loved the comic. I just hope they don't screw it up.
  • Yeeaaahh....I'm so excited about this. I loved the graphic novel.....I just hope they don't stray too far away from it
  • the website is doing a bad job. boring. scrolling posters??? comme on......

poor intro. girl who runs you through the 'virtual tour' better not be in the film- her voice puts me to sleep.
  • Havent we seen this type of film before...and it look slike thei rnot bringing anything new to the table
  • thank you for the intro. what kind of audience is the graphic novel geared towards??? sounds like it could be really dark, except that Disney decided to make a movie out bout it.
  • If your a sci fi geek like me you'll like the graphic novel, I wouldn't call it dark though. I mean its going to be PG-13 and the book isn't violent or anything so it wont be wattered. I just really hope they dont dumb down some of the themes of the book, because there are a lot. Check it out though, its a fun read.
  • Looks interesting. Good to see Bruce Willis returning to the sci-fi genre. I doubt it will be as good as ‘12 Monkeys’ (one of my all time favorites), but I’ll still give it a try.
