Cool stuff: Ghostbusters Action Figures

Two Ghostbusters posts in one day? Why not? Earlier in the week Matel announced that they would be releasing a new collectible line of toys based on the Ghostbusters. Mattel’s “Ghostbusters” collectible line, debuts with 12-inch figures in June 2009, and will be available exclusively at MattyCollector.com. Toynewsi has gotten a first look at some of the prototype figures on display at the New York Comic Con, and they look incredible.

Each figure will feature window box packaging and include authentic Ghostbuster equipment unique to each character. For the first time, Mattel’s line will include talent likeness of Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddemore.

“Ghostbusters” collectors can also look forward to 6-inch figures, with one debuting at San Diego Comic Con in July 2009. Sculpted by Four Horsemen Studios, the team currently working on Mattel’s popular DC Universe™ Classics and Masters of the Universe® Classics collectible lines, the 6-inch line will come complete with authentic “Ghostbusters” equipment and ghost. Mattel will also create characters and ghosts from the classic animated series, “The Real Ghostbusters,” to go along with the classic “Ghostbusters” film.

Head on over to Toynewsi for more photos.

  • Hell yes, this is awesome. It would be even more awesome if I was still a kid and could grab some carpet and play ghostbusters and make stupid noises and throw slime on them and shit. Oh yes, that would have been grand. I suppose I could still try it...no, it doesn't feel right down here on the floor. D=
  • haha. My friend, Slimer!
  • Wow, the level of detail they have in those toy proton packs is actually impressive. I'll be ponying up for a set once they hit the market. YAHHH!!!!!
  • freemachine
They did an excellent job sculpting the faces. Some action figures never look like the actors, but these are are so detailed. I'm impressed.
  • I was gonna say! Usually these things are half-arsed, but these look really well done. I wonder how much they will fetch for as a result...
  • freemachine
They will probably fetch a lot. That is to say, you wouldn't want to blow them up like I did with my Star Wars figures when I was a kid...
  • I just took a closer look, and it says they'll be releasing 6 inch versions also. these will more than likely be of lesser quality, and carry a smaller degree of likeness to the respective actors
  • it's a collectible line of toys. these toys are held to high standards, and aren't anything close to the mass market releases that pop up with movies like fantastic four, iron man, etc.

they are 12'' , and will probably land in the $50-100 range.
  • Really impressed. I hope I have money by June.
  • Im glad their really pushing ghostbusters this year! Such a classic movie! Action figures a game!
  • Pete (original)
i just watched Ghostbusters last nite! always funny.
  • Were talking old testament Mr. Mayor, real wrath of god type stuff.
40 years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes!
THe Dead risin' from the grave!
Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together! MAST HYSTERIA!!!

Enough I get the point. and what if you're wrong?

If I'm wrong, we go to jail, peacefully, quietly, we'll enjoy it. But if i'm right... and we can stop this thing... Lenny... you will have saved the lives.... of millions of registered voters....
  • These toys actually dont look that bad. They would be nice collectables, if your into that tyep of stuff. Funny how we are hearing so much of Ghostbusters lately, this all preparation for something huge to come out, and not just the video game.
  • those toys are nice, but as usual, waste of money.
  • I think all toys are, just not when your at the age where they are the best things in the world.
  • Slimmer looks so happy!
  • I wouldn't mind having some of these.
  • mason
    r these frome the game
  • awesome.
  • I ust own these when they come out. They would look great to my collectible comicbook ninja turles i got last year
  • jaws
is it though that when i go to MattyCollector.com, there isnt a single mention of the figures anywhere in the website. not even at there news to come section. i for one at least want one figure. but if they are exclusive to just this site, they better not cost me my soul for one. because any action figure over 16.00 is not worth the price, i dont care who or what they are
  • mason
i kan is this 4 the game
if it is a want the rookie
    if not egon
