Just so you know, the genius Hulu “An Evil Plot to Destroy the World” Super Bowl advertisement which starred Alec Baldwin, was directed by actor turned filmmaker Peter Berg. For those who don’t immediately recognize the name, Berg’s filmography includes such films as Very Bad Things, The Rundown, Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom and most recently Hancock. You’ve probably already seen the advertisement, but if you want to check it out again - you can do so after the jump.

    oh... THATS why it sucked...

bs, i cant watch Hulu in Mexico :(.
  • fupafetish
probably because NBC haven't found people willing to advertise to Spanish speaking, Mexico-located people.

I'm not sure, it's just an assumption.
  • I actually kind of enjoyed the ad. I love Baldwin's smarmy act. Commercial or not. He's hilarious.
  • My favorite SB commercial.
  • Remember Peter W. Berg guest starring on TV's The Equalizer back in the mid-to-late 1980s? That was only the beginning of Berg's feature directorial career!

Either my second or third favorite ad of the night. Alec Baldwin is awesome.
  • I love Hulu and I loved the ad.
  • I remember talk of Alec Baldwin wanting to leave 30 Rock, but I feel like its only bringing out the best of him. Good stuff.
  • reminiscent of MiB
  • I liked the commercial.
  • I find it amazing how hesitant studios and networks were to put their shows up on Hulu when it first showed up. They go public less than a year ago and now they have enough money for a Superbowl ad? Even if they are backed by big companies, it's impressive for website that basically shows reruns.
    The times, they are a-changing.
  • I really dislike Berg as a filmmaker.
But apparently he can direct commercials pretty darn well. He should stick to that.
  • cineMATTic
Awesome. This was the best commercial of the night.
Who knew before 30 Rock that Alec Baldwin was one of the funniest people ever?
  • I thought the ad was great. 10 times better than Hancock.
  • I'm surprised Berg directed that commercial as it seemed very professional (I'm just not a fan of Berg's directing especially after being forced to watch 'The Kingdom' twice..).

How can you call this crap genius? This ad was horrible
  • What was bad about it? I agree that it wasn't a great commercial and I definitely won't remember it for the rest of my life bu it's not horrible.
  • I can watch this ad all day. I welcome Alec Baldwin to my mushy brain.
  • it was a brilliant way to advertise. alec baldwin is on a roll. god bless tina fey!
  • great commercial, but they're going to have a hard time destroying the world if they keep region-locking their site to americans only.
  • Berg needs to go back to acting....if he directs Dune I really feel sorry for the actors who agree to ruin a classic...the man has zero visual presence it's just watered down Michael Mann
  • Well Lynch already ruined Dune so it doesn't matter now. I think of him more as a watered down Paul Greengrass, he is terrible with shaky cam. I actually liked The Rundown and I liked Friday Night Lights quite a bit, but The Kingdom and Hancock were shot pretty badly and were really uneven movies. I would say this ad is his best work. I really hope he doesn't use shaky cam for Dune...
  • well I really enjoyed Lynch's version the DC was great....but I can see why some people would dislike it..my issue with Berg is that he doesn't have consistent look to his films...it just feels like he watches movies and then tries to copy their look...this commercial is a total MIB rip-off.. the special effects and cinematography are very dated even for a commercial
  • you're refering to the DC that used repeated shots and Work Print quality footage? The one that looks like its thrown together? Thats certainly a Masterpiece. If you want Dune that's like the book then check out the sci-Fi mini-series. If you want Dune because you're a Lynch film then watch DL's Dune. Anyway you cut it, DL's Dune is nothing like the novel.

  • Tried to enjoy. Couldn't. =/ Just not a Baldwin fan I guess.
  • I enjoyed that advert! Hulu taking over the would was hillarios!
  • So I am seeing from these responses that everyone here is still under the spell. Haven't quite taken the red pill yet. Well I am here to inform everyone that the best way to hide something is to put it right out in the open. What I see when I watch the commercial is that there is an alien race using digital signals to keep our minds occupied on other things, instead of being open minded and excepting and limitless beings. What you don't think is possible will not manifest in your reality so by making a commercial that makes you feel all warm inside with good old Alec Baldwin telling you to your face what is happening to you and you laugh and say Oh that's not possible mean while anything you can think of and an infinite amount of other things are possible. We are conditioned through repetitious commercials and all types of media 24 hours a day to make you believe things are not possible. When in reality ALL things are possible. Look at all the science fiction bull 'jazz ' we get pumped as not being true or possible think about all the millions of billions of dollars that goes into making Movies and TV shows and Video games to keep you thinking THINGS ARE NOT POSSIBLE. do some research and you will see teleportation and time travel are just now being considered a reality. Wow no way really. Jeeeeez. Wake UP. SO I SAY LAUGH IT UP BUT BELIEVE ME SOMEONE SOMEWHERE IS LAUGHING A HECK OF A LOT LOUDER AND RICHER THAN US. ANYONE WANTING TO KNOW HOW TO WAKE UP .(TAKE THE RED PILL) PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO EMAIL ME ANYTIME eduk82008@gmail.com its time to open our minds do some research of your own and stop taking what we are told." I am me and I am free".
  • Alec, William and Stephen make up the Brothers Baldwin.
