You remember that HUGE Decepticon that little ol’ Optimus Prime was hanging off of at the end of the new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Super Bowl television spot (if you haven’t seen it, watch it NOW)?

Well Transformers fans are pretty much in agreement - what you saw was only ONE of the Constructicons — a group of Decepticons that merge together to form a GIGANTIC Robot named Devastator. It has been rumored that he will be made up of 5-9 different Constructicons. So if that is truly only one of the said Constructicons, this means that Devastator is going to be MASSIVE. So imagine a Transformer nine times bigger than the Decepticon that you saw at the end of the Super Bowl teaser. After the jump I will present the evidence, including a possible photo of the actual toy version of the Constructicon in question.

Lets take a look at the evidence. A couple weeks ago one, photos of one of the new constructicons found their way onto tf08.net.

The unnamed Transformer which has been referred to as the figure’s alt mode: “Steam Shovel” appears to look exactly like the Transformer at the end of the Super Bowl clip. TFW2005 user yizhi521 has even posted an image of the toy with a Legends Of Cyberton series Optimus Prime hanging on to the figure, and it looks very much to scale. I’m not sure about you guys, but the image below looks a lot like the huge transformer shown at the end of the teaser.

  • Oh you kids and your rock'em sock'em robots.
  • Jack
Is it just me or is the autobot at 0:15 an Audi R8???, what do you guys think?

    Z
  • I read on Wikipedia that that would be a Decepticon. But it is Wikipedia, so I don't trust it. Iron Man/Transformers crossover, anyone? (God, no)
  • after seeing just part of Devastator... I couldn't care less about having Megatron come back... but it would be nice though.
  • Jimbo
Don't worry, Megatron IS back - they have a new toy coming out of him.
  • Milan
Out of his ass? Eww... :)
  • And I thought Jazz was teeny compared to Megatron. Now I am left to imagine The Twins hiding in fear next to Devastator. That would be crazy.
  • hmmm
  • And I thought I couldn't get more excited about this movie. Thanks for proving me wrong.
  • Is this a spoiler... Even though people have seen the teaser, i doubt they would all know what the giant robot really is yet. Im fine with this news being reported, but maybe some other fans might not want to know this..
  • Nope
The fact that devestator and the constructicobs are in the film has already been reported by every major movie news site
  • Chris
    I didn't know that. It's definitely a spoiler.
  • Stark1288
It might be a spoiler if you've never watched Transformers before, but if you have and you see a construction vehicle, than you know whats coming. Besides, Devestator/constructicons were reported on this very website like 6 or 10 months ago. Like the guy above said, the news story was on every website from First Showing to IESB to Coming Soon to Cinematical There wasn't a movie news site that didn't report it. Besides, I believe even the screenwriters Alex and Bob have confirmed the fact in a couple interviews. It's not a secret by any means. If you've been reading this or any movie website for the last year, you should have already read about it.
  • Konrad
#1 it's been on every news site a million times.
#2 If you don't want to get spoiled, you shouldn't be on this site, never mind reading the story and commenting on it.

You know how I avoid Battlestar spoiler? I don't go to sci fi TV websites, and if I do I don't click on the Battlestar stories.
  • ok relax man..
Firstly not every site does news reports on Transformers, so your wrong there. And Secondly, there a heaps of stories on this site that say "spoilers ahead" so this was all i was commenting on.

Like i said, im fine with this news, but there might be people who are not happy with this spoiler.
  • No, this is not a spoiler because in spite of all the evidence we can string together based on the teaser and the toys, it's all still only speculation. It's an educated guess(which will probably turn out to be true). But it's still just a guess.. no more, no less.
  • jason B
i know i'm not the only one who has watched that trailer well over 3 dozen times so far. and yes, that toy looks exactly like what we just saw.

once TDK finally came out last year, ROTF became my #1 most anticipated upcoming film - and even with my HIGH expectations, i was still blown away.

can you imagine the scene we will no doubt get, between devastator, the fallen, prime & jetfire combined, plus all the other robots?!?! it's just gotta be in IMAX.
  • jason B
though the more i think about it, the more i remember bay's insistence (thankfully) upon the fact that there would be no size 'morphing', and that the robots sizes would be pretty acurate to whatever vehicle they embody: so how does prime's rather large peterbelt truck suddenly become dwarfed by a ditchdigger? guess i'll just have to wait & see what he's got up his sleeve, cuz now i'm not so sure that its just one robot.
  • JP Dyno
I dunno, you can get some pretty damn big ditch diggers though.
  • Johannon
I believe this constructicon's name is scavenger and he could be called a ditch digger if you like, but earth mover is probably more accurate. With regard to your concern over size, this is an actual machine called the TEREX RH400. Just google some photos and you'll see what I mean. And, before you ask, the treads transform into the wheels as you can see by looking very closely at the newest released trailer for the movie.
  • jason B
and also the legends of cybertron series toys are waaaaaaay smaller than any other generations, so that picture is kinda misleading.
  • Kernan Rio
Not to mention that the giant robot at the end of the teaser looks nothing like the original Devastator.
  • TFfan08
thats not cybertron legends Optimus Prime, that ROTF legends Optimus Prime. Learn it!
  • scotty
Yeah if you look at Steam Shovel's digger mode and look at the cab where a human would sit. its tiny it needs stairs . since Prime is mainly a cab of a big rig you get the size difference. having seen one of these things not the robot) in real life they are hughe, like 4 storeys high. so it could be one robot.

just thinking out loud (or in text) but t kind of looks like a torso on wheels. maybe this thing is the top of Devastator and the other bots form the body and legs?
  • Constructicons! Brought to you by Hasbro, the kings of creative names.
  • huh
..... is that supposed to be sarcastic?
  • Actually no. I just think Constructicon is such a clever way to combine Decepticon and construction. I mean they are robots disguised as construction equipment. Constructicon just fits that so perfectly.
  • If this is true, then the economic recession definitely isn't hitting Michael Bay or his backers very hard! :p I'm hoping that Devastator will be one humongous robot that is the size of California itself, as I'd love to see something like that on the big screen.
  • Very cool stuff. As long as Jon Voight doesn't call it a "giant robutt".
  • sean
That would be the single redeeming aspect of the entire franchise if he did.
  • Minsk
Man, have you people seen that ginormous earth digger built by Krupp? Looks like that's the only conceivable Earth machine that Devastator could transform into if this scoop is true.
  • Pretty Cool
I just checked out the Krupp, that equipment is pretty amazing!
  • Devastator is going to win by knocking the Earth off of it's axis. Take that, Prime!
  • This movie is going to give me a headache.

But I'm still going to watch it because I'm a slave to hype.
  • Matt
If that is just one part and there's like 5 more. Devastator is going to throw earth off its axis.
  • I don't think it's gonna be made up of 5 constructicons, you should look that tractor on youtube and is gigantic as the robot in the spot. its like a moving house, really.
  • gah
This Summer, Giant alien Robots will fight over a magic rubix cube.
  • edc
    and gah will complain.
  • Oh man, it looks like those circus freaks that's just a torso with arms. Badass!
  • mcgruff
if that is not actually devestator, autobots FAIL
  • REAL6
Steam Shovel is a fake TRANSFORMER. How gay does that look? Just google Devastator to see how he looks. I hope he's Neon green!!!
  • Peter, youre getting realy excited about this!
    Take some deep breathes.
    In...
    And Out...
  • Yeah I saw that, i can't wait.
I wonder if they'll do a Decepticon and Autobot team up to destroy devastator, hopefully not, that would be about as bad as humans teaming up with Predators to destroy ALiens
  • choder1
Les't hope this film wasn't as terrible as the last one.
  • Michael Bay must be compensating for something.
  • cannot wait till this comes out. i think michael bay just might make transformer movies forever. forget bad boys...
  • designjerk
Considering the scale of real-life excavators that the toy in the pic seems to be based on, Devastator is going to be enormous indeed. For example:

  • designjerk
Oops. Sorry those links don't work. Just do a Google Image search for "giant excavator."
  • I said this before, this film is going to be awesome. I think that the Devestator will be awesome and I am wondering how they smaller Autobots wil take it down in this film?
  • marz
i use to have the whole constructacon set.u could get it in one huge pack.it was like my favorite christmas present that year...however,they were all green! whoever revisualized these should have stuck with the old..and for some reason,i dont remeber any of them looking like mr unicycle they showed at the end.truthfuly,i think the one they showed at the end is all of them forming devestator because if u watch it with the screen maximized,it looks like u can make out each individual robot creating a body part.
