OMG: Transformers 2 Super Bowl Teaser Trailer

Holy Shit! The Super Bowl television advertisement for Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen has been unleashed and it’s insane. I don’t usually mark out and get all fanboy on the site, but this television advertisement has me extremely excited. Sure, Michael Bay steals the flicker teaser of the Terminator Salvation trailer after calling McG out for making a movie with giant robots, but lets forget about that for now. This looks epic. This might be the coolest movie Super Bowl teaser since the infamous Independence Day teaser.

Here are a few things I noticed. The dog/cat like Transformer is probably Ravage. Is the giant Decepticon seen rolling around on one huge wheel in the climax of the teaser actually Devastator or just one of the constructicons? If it was Devastator, I’d be happy, but it looks like it might just be one of the constructicons. And if so, imagine how huge Devastator will be. Watch the television spot after the jump, and please leave your thoughts in the comments below.

    Well...shit that looks awesome.
  • I've lived by their rules my entire life. I've protected them. envied them. and for what? To be treated like a normal fan. We are not normal fans! Is this want you want? We can be terminator fan , or we can be... transformer fans
  • Choc
Oh god. Must go change my pants. Total geekgasm.
  • greycolumbus
LOL Peter. I've never seen you so giddy :)

    Awesome teaser overall!
  • You know, I might take a lot of flack from this but I was almost expecting more from this teaser. I mean granted, it is a teaser, but still. It didn't get my juices flowing, and a lot of the scenes looked like repeats from the first one. Here's my fingers crossed.
  • Corey
Yeah because in the first one Prime jumps onto a massive bridge crushing robots head.
  • No, but the other scenes did look similar to some in the first one. Sam being pinned. The car jumping out in the alley way. The pictured scene looks similar to Barricade questioning Sam. I don't know, it seems like a whole lot of the same thing. Who knows, it could be a good thing, especially when Mr. Bay is involved.
  • It dosent need to say much! Just show that theres a transformers 2...and get excited for it!
  • gman
I agree that a lot of scenes looked similar, but remember that the movie is still in production. I guarantee you that most of those scenes are from the first sequence of the movie. Most of the clips look like they take place at the Bethlehem Steel Company set which, if they were filming in order of plot sequence, takes place early in the movie. It only gets better, I guarantee it.

I watched this a shitload of times now! It trumps all the new trailers we've seen today! FUCK YEAH BABY!!! Summer can't here soon enough!
  • cineMATTic
Shit. I didn't like the first one but I do have to say that looks pretty epic. Not Independence day teaser epic (what could be?) but epic nonetheless.
  • Hey McG ! Micheal Bay Just Bitch slapped that thing you call a terminator movie ... HARD .... In the Face ... HARD!
  • thankyoufor
see theres this little thing called SCRIPT and ACTING that micheal bay wont have and Mc g will
  • michael bay never needed acting to make a movie cool. he just blows stuff up and makes it look great. but i get that it's not for everyone.
  • McG did charlies angels...WTF did you just say????
  • G.I. Who?
  • wow. just wow. i can't wait.
  • Harry Potter
Why does your grab of the trailer cut out the first couple of seconds with the carriers?
  • Stahscream
wow, i gotta say that was a wicked cool teaser; def the best of the all the superbowl ones we've seen so far. if you rewatch the last scene where "Devastor" is rolling into the bridge, you can see Op-Prime jump on him and he was small in comparison...now if that is only ONE of the Constructicons to form Devastor, then that would be a HUGE 'bot.
  • Dvq
    yup, blew my mind.
  • Lujs
    HOly FRIGGIN FUCK
  • wow. speechless. I think I know what it feels like to have your mind rocked! WOOOOOOOOOOO!
  • Matt
Holy Crap In A Barrel Batman. That looks AWESOME
Time to watch it for the 10th time
  • I do believe my good sirs that that trailer was sufficiently awesome.
  • Sciretta channels Billington...

In other news, that teaser was off the charts. Who's ready to defend Michael Bay again?! Who's with me?! Eat it, haters. :P
  • I'm with you.
  • ill_will
    i just jizzed my pants.
    :0
  • Boy those are some big ole robots. Not too bad, nothing earth shattering, but not too shabby.

The music though...McG steals some tall robots for T:S and Bay steals Terminator music for Transformers? Is that the deal?
  • HAHA. I remember being in the theater saying to my buddy, "Did Michael Bay just use the Terminator theme song?" Glad to hear someone back up what I heard! "DA DA DA DA DA!!!"
  • wizardsyndrome
I actually thought it sounded like remake of a song from from john carpenter's The Thing, the one that plays immediately after the title card...if i was a bigger internet alarmist geek i'd say it was a ripoff but i'm not so i'll just say they sound similar...ish
  • Gavin
Holy Fucking Balls Is it June yet
    Wheres may Time Machine?
  • your time machine only goes to may, i gues that'll make it sooner that is if it goes to future may's
  • ... no words... just ... incredible... will see... on IMAX... as many times as possible
  • Flipyap
    So... what's so exciting exactly?
The first movie was an abomination, and this just shows more of the same.
But, hey! Maybe this time things will be better.
Maybe they'll have a robot POOPING on someone. Now that would be funny!

    (no, it wouldn't)
  • You don't understand, do you?

Transformers was a cult classic- it defined the generic action movie. Transformers 2 is expected, since every generic action movie has a sequel.
  • Nothing, and I mean NOTHING that has made over 750 million dollars at the worldwide box office can be rightfully considered a cult classic.
  • "Transformers was a cult classic- it defined the generic action movie."
I know it was cool but you're exaggerating a bit.

By the way, the trailer looks awesome! want to see it in a big screen :D
  • [A]
    "cult classic"? -- poor bastard..
  • hahaha cult classic.... weird wouldnt it be a blockbuster, or box office hit
  • LOL, I guess I misused my wording a bit. I meant that whenever you think of the dumbest generic action movie with explosions, you would think either Michael Bay or Transformers (Which isn't a big difference).

In the end, I was saying that Transformers was meant to be a dumb fun movie, and it doesn't aim to be better than that.
  • thankyoufor
    CULT CLASSIC....
    don't make me laugh
  • Fir3Wolf
Miles better then the first one and I will be buying my tickets opening night as in Thurday for a midnight showing. =D
  • OMG I cant believe Transformers 2 looks cool! Looks like it will be better then the first! The first was dumb fun, and I just hope this has a better story. Star Trek still looks awesome to me! Plus Kevin Smith loved it, so I am expecting it to be good. I also hope Bay takes out his stupid slow motion military ad scenes with the triumphant music, those scenes make me cringe. Paramount has a good slate this summer. Star Trek looks awesome, Transformers 2 actually looks cool and better then the first, and GI Joe looks so over the top like it should that it might be fun.
  • Theß
epic teaser, and that decepticon with the giant wheel has to be Devastator because Optimus is pretty much jumping across and it's really small in comparison.

For me I don't know if I like it entirely, the whole "let's replace legs with a giant unicycle" hmm... I don't know...
  • Chris
Looks like more jerky, badly framed short cuts from Michael Bay....big surprise
  • Ahahaaha, Peter I also thought that when I saw the flicker. Just like the T4 ad, wow Bay is kind of a hypocrite. Peter also there is a Star Trek ad over at comingsoon.
  • 4site
Michael Bay invented giant robots, so of course it's awesome. Actually I don't see the big deal.
  • invented?
  • 4site
Well...he acts like he does, since he was talking shit about Terminator:ssalvation. He's the only one allowed to have giant robots.
  • fordicon
you missed the beginning with the aircraft carriers!
