Many have called me a Michael Bay apologist. I enjoyed Transformers and am very much looking forward to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I understand that Bay wants fans to enjoy the movie without knowing too many spoilers, but where do you draw the line? I don’t understand why Michael Bay feels the need to go around and try to pass off blatantly false misinformation to try to trick fans. Bay told Empire Magazine earlier this month that Megatron is “not in this movie. That’s not misinformation.”

Strangely enough, the character who is supossedly not in the film, has begun to show up on the packaging of new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen products. For example, in the cover art for the Missile Mania game or side of the new Bumblebee toy packaging (via: TUMB), both seen above.

The packaging even includes possible information about Megatron’s return:

“The moment his sensor net registered Megatron going offline, Starscream knew that battle was over and the Allspark lost. He converted to vehicle mode and boosted for outer space, hoping to buy enough time to rally the Decepticon survivors. Returning from Cybertron bearing the marks won during his reign over the Decepticon army, he is cocused on conquest. With a new army behind him, he has the strength to pursue his own goals, and perhaps, when the time is right, bring Megatron back.”

Michael Bay should tell the company that designs the packaging for all the Transformers sequel toys that Megatron isn’t in the new movie, or else they might have to recall all these misprinted boxes. Wow, and to think that they spent a lot of extra time redesigning a character who clearly doesn’t even appear on screen in the sequel. What a waste of money… </sarcasm>

And before anyone blasts me for posting “Spoilers”, let me remind you that Megatron is all over the f’n packaging of all the toys. If it’s a spoiler, than they’re doing a very bad job at keeping it concealed.

I'm more interested in who the major sponsors are for the film. I counted over 50 product placements in the last film (I had to do something to get throught those grueling two hours).
  • It's not product placement, it's added realism!
  • You're having a sook as if a) you didn't expect it; and b) it doesn't happen in just about every Hollywood film.
  • yeah cause when i walk down the street i dont see one cocacola ad or a billboard for some product. who cares if there's product placement
  • 1. dissolve mixture in water to form (water + KNO3) + sand
    2. filter sand out from this mixture
    3. evaporate to red
  • Michael Bay is either an idiot or a genius. I think we all know which.
  • lmao he's so rediculous
  • To be fair (whether the character is in the film or not), it would be poor business on Hasbro's part to not release new toys for the leader of the bad guys.
  • We all know his in the new movie! Dont take bays word seriously...or his films
  • jason B
bottom line: he specifically said he would be doing these exact things! where is the confusion?!?! no line has been crossed what-so-ever. people just love to bitch about bay, i fuckin dig the guy.
  • Spence
That's Megatron? I guess all grey, twisted lumps of metal look the same.
  • does it make any difference if megatron is in it or not? one giant robot is as good as another...
  • Megatron is THE other half of Transformers! It's very important that he be in it. Optimus Prime vs Megatron since episode one. Of course then there was Rodimus Prime and Galvatron, but... oh, wait...
  • i guess, but i would of thought that the most important thing was that he be part of the saga, which he already is, than that he be present in each and every one of the films.

i can't pretend to be familiar with he t'formers mythos, but i know that as a fan of the first movie i'm eager to see the 'fallen' dude they keep talking about...that said, a big fan complaint first time around was that the bots weren't characterised enough, so i guess keeping megatron around would enable them to address that
  • cutman
Why do people get so confused about this? Megatron isn't in it, Galvatron is. God.
  • i hope that was sarcasm...
  • I actually don't mind that he's saying one thing while someone else says another, even though we can be pretty sure Megatron is in the movie, it's not 100% certain. I kind of like not knowing everything before I go into the theater.
  • matt
Michael Bay ruined the transformers. And he made Armageddon. He is a idiot.
  • Armageddon was great. Transformers is amazing
  • who would you have preferred direct one of the biggest action movies ever? dude can make action he just needs to get better screen writers
  • agreed id drop 10 bux on a bay film and buy a bag of popcorn and come out of that with no popcorn left it is what it is
  • filmkid
wait Megatron is coming back anyway did we all see a image of Megatron Tank design awhile back for Transformers 2. if he was lieing its not much of a lie i think.
  • Seth
    That's Megatron's brother, Saul.
  • Sitrom
Maybe its his evil twin, which in turn would make him......good? Depending on how evil Megatron is Saul could turn out more gooder than Prime and takes over leadership of the Autobots. Like a twist innit.
  • Seth
I agree with Peter. Transformers was great fun.

As for Megatron, he probably comes back at the end of the sequel to set up the next installment. Or maybe he doesn't. Who knows. Who cares?

As I have said before: Giant robots. Megan Fox's boobs. What else do you need?
  • hey, i liked armageddon... and I thought Transformers was great. Say what u wanna say, Bay must being doing something right..
  • it's biz, not much of a lie to me
  • mike
toy lines have had characters who are not in the movie before.
    Video game adaptions too.
I'm not saying this is what happened, but it could
  • I thought people already knew that Megatron would be back in the sequel. Well people have not stopped talking about it for quite a few months now on his blog. Im sure Michael Bay was just trying to keep spoilers out of the media.
  • tmille30
i have to say, whether he's in the movie or not, i like the original megatron better.
  • i lol'd
  • You mean to tell me that Megatron will be able to walk or fly out of the water? Hah I think not you simple minded fools.
  • Erm, every true-blooded Transformers fan knows that, from the pilot episode of the animated series, the Decepticon's hideout was at the bottom of the ocean... that's why there was a slight "ohhhhh" from the knowing audience in attendance when they show this at the end of TF that you didn't quite understand, I suspect.
  • zeek5304
maybe its a ploy to get you to buy the toys and merch. the toyline is full of bots that have made it and wont make it to the movies.
  • Of course Megatron is in the sequel... that's like having X-men without Magneto.
  • This seems to happen more and more. Remember The Phantom Menace. Everything topsecret until it's release. However, the soundtrack came out something like a month earlier with a track entitled Qui Gons funeral. So I have to sit through an apalling movie knowing that the most interesting character is going to die before the end. Far too many people involved in the process these days. Not many of them seem to know what they or the other are doing. Boo hiss.
  • The original cartoon was conceived as a commercial to sell toys, so this doesn't surprise me.
  • Rsdigi
MEGATRON IS NOT IN THE MOVIE! He is simply a new toy. If every new Transformers toy being revealed were in the move it would be one big cluster f***! Like someone else said, it would be stupid to not make a new Megatron toy..such is the case with the tank. The storyline on the packaging should be changed however as we all know Starscream would want to be the new leader.
  • Killing Joke
Maybe Megatron is in the movie but he is calling himself Galvatron.
  • Michael Bay is a douche-bag.
  • I would love it if Galvatron was in the movie. But at this point, I think Bay is doing a hell of a job with all the mis-information. Consider the possibility that perhaps Megatron is just a toy, and not in the movie. It's possible. At this point it'd be hard to say for certain who is and who isn't in the film. Damn you Michael Bay, Damn you! Just tell us!

I know a lot of people didn't like Transformers, and I can sure as hell see why. It did have a lot of flaws. Some of which would be hard to ignore. Still, I thought it was a fun popcorn movie. I don't go to Michael Bay films expecting Oscar caliber work, I go to see shit get blown up. That's what you can reasonably expect to find in his films. That might not be good enough for the hardcore fans of Transformers, and I get that too. I am a hardcore Ghost Rider fan, and I was extremely disappointed with that one, so I understand where you guys are coming from. That's why I consider myself lucky that I'm not a hardcore Transformers fan, I could get a little more enjoyment out of it.
  • Ken
Until Kasey Kasem, Kahrbombya or a Megatron with a fusion cannon and frigging hands shows up, this will be TRANSFORMERS IN NAME ONLY!
I HAVE TO GET A RAPE WHISTLE FOR MY CHILDHOOD!
  • Who cares anymore.. Speed Racer crushed all my childhood dreams.
  • REAL6
Hell no. Speed Racer was good. Talk about rape, then tell them to stop making remakes from our childhood.
  • speed racer was freakin pimp
  • stop making remakes period. Most of the time they are so bad that I wouldn't watch them if someone gave me a free copy.
  • REAL6
This movie is still gonna fucking suck but make alot of money. Raping our childhood again since The FIrst Transformers Live action movie!!!

I still say the Cartoon movie is 1000 times better than this bullshit series!!!

But i will see this the first or 2nd day just to see it.
  • hahahaha way to stand by your morals
  • Or, the sarcasm in my voice didn't translate into my letters as I had hoped.
  • It did not. :o)
