  • that's very disappointing, although I'm going to see for myself...
  • same here, because it's Brad Renfro's last performance.
  • I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
  • ticklethis
thanks for being an informer (that was lame, I know)
  • rnl
so I take it that you didn't like it.
  • Phil
could of just been a 3 word review. Amber Heard naked.
  • Dan
Beat me to it Phil....doesn't that instantly nominate this movie for some type of awesomeness award?
  • It's already won that award in my pants... I mean, in my book :P
  • FreedomPopular
Ahhh, you beat me to it too.

That's all you need man, that's all you need.
  • Amber heard naked was the only good thing about the movie. Surprisingly it still isn't enough to make the entire movie worth watching. Mr Skin will have the timecodes, fast forward to the "good parts"
  • D:
  • I'm I the only who thinks that Bret Easton Ellis is creatively bankrupt? All the man does is write books about hedonism or excess run amuck.
  • set to bad 80's music.
  • Max
...I'm failing to see the problem here.
  • it's great for the first movie. ok for the second. by the time we get to the 3rd movie in a row that's basically the same (except for the vampire bit, which apparently was left out of this film), it's time to switch things up.

his books are getting repetative too.
  • no, he's great.
  • So it's like The OC?
  • Chadams
If you remember the characters on The OC as being crack-addled horny vampires, then I guess.
  • Brian Rodden
I thought this might be good. Too bad.
  • WALL-E
so what you're saying is there was no talking robot in it?
  • Jon
I like Ellis but I hated this book so it doesn't surprise me. I'll just wait for the naked Amber Heard stuff to pop up on YouTube.
  • jrw
That is a shame, but im still going to pick the book up and see this.
  • Chadams
I hear "Informers" was one of only a few hearty-constitution-testing films @ Sundance this year. Not that I give much credence to 15w reviews, but knowing if you liked "Rules of Attraction" or "American Psycho" would've been helpful, since I liked the former and go back-and-forth on the latter as far as Ellis adaptations go.
  • Rules and Psycho are probably in my top 10% of films of all time
  • joshi38
Nice, in 15 words you just confirmed to me what I had assumed from seeing the trailer. If only other reviews could be as succinct.
  • sound1down
I wish Sciretta would give us a better summation of what led to his "15 word review." Filmmakers have always had trouble adapting Ellis' work due to its taboo situations and absurdly crude characters. Less Than Zero was a crappy 80's teen romp that was only nominal in likeness to the book. American Psycho and Rules of Attraction were closer to the written word, but still lacked the brutality of what Ellis wrote. I've been pumped to see The Informers adapt since it was announced. I really hope Sciretta was just in a pissy mood when he reviewed the film.

And to say that Ellis is creatively bankrupt is to say that Steven King blew his wad by the time he wrote Carrie.
  • theuglyspirit
Yeah, but Ellis wrote the adaptation himself. That's got to say something.
  • Shocked
I loved AMERICAN PSYCHO and RULES OF ATTRACTION but THE INFORMERS is an abomination. Unwatchable.
  • Is the vampire plotline still in the film?
  • Shocked
Vampire stuff is all gone. Movie makes no fucking sense.
  • MonkeyMafia
I am a big Bret Easton Ellis fan and think he does have a niche career, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. The majority of his stories all exist in the same (excessively charicatured) world and at the cornerstone of that world is Informers. Only having read the book I always thought his other adaptations would benefit from a multi-narrative framework that fleshes out a world in which Sean and Patrick Bateman could exist. I recently re-read Informers and I'm so damned curious about this one. The kidnapping stuff would make many stir in their seats if done faithfully.

And a 15 word review is BS. Do some work. Was it really THAT bad? Plot synopsis? How's the acting? Anything?!
  • I have a feeling Peter may have walked out on this one
  • Didn't walk out, although many press actually did
  • I'm not shocked, didn't sound like a crowd pleaser
  • So it's a new made-for-television movie for MTV?
  • berzo12
amber heard naked is all i need to see a film LOL
  • Jfive
Wait there were vampires in this?Im so confused ....
  • kidnapping yes, vampires, no
  • Hmm i wonder what other people are saying. I'll probably rent it
  • I liked the trailer quite a bit, but then again I'm kinda not surprised. Films with this kind of excess can drown in themselves. I'm sure I'll see it at some point and decide for myself.

And we saw enough of Heard naked in the trailer to satisfy, right? I mean this isn't "Mandy Lane" era Heard, it is super skinny cocaine Hollywood Heard.
  • JRO
Sounds like every Bret Easton Ellis book I've ever read.
  • Arnold
I wasn't expecting this to be the best movie ever, but the cut I saw had some real merit. Now I know I'm probably going to like it, because tastelessness personified bonehead film "critic" Peter Scrietta hated it.
  • I'm still going to see this. American Psycho is great. So was Rules of Attraction.
  • How do the words Amber Heard naked and horrible go together?
  • hahaha, owned.
"Mandy Lane" Amber Heard is the best one, btw.
  • Easton-Eliis at his best. Can't fucking wait.
  • Didn't Roger Ebert pull this off?
  • Asking for a little context to go with these "reviews" isn't that hard.
  • Ricky
Why all the hate for Peter and the other bloggers on here. If you hate them so much go to comingsoon.net or another shitty site like that.
  • Haha! 15 words; Reminds me of an article Scoop Jackson wrote (off subject)...But damn, I was hoping this movie was gonna be good...aw well...
