Star Wars: Retold (by someone who hasn’t seen it)

Most everyone I know has seen the original Star Wars trilogy, but there is always a person who has only seen it in bits and pieces over the years and doesn’t quite understand the big picture. Joe Nicolosi recorded his friend Amanda as she retells the story from the tiny amount that she has seen or heard about with rather hilarious results. Nicolosi explains to the Official Star Wars blog:

“Amanda seemed very confident in her knowledge of the Star Wars saga despite never having watched any of the Star Wars films. That was the first good sign. When we sat down to watch them, she started telling me what she thought the plots were going to be, so I told her to hold steady while I went to get my voice recorder.”

    Awesome
  • Hilarious!!!
  • I bet she could recite Strawberry Shortcake: The Sweet Dreams Movie word for word.
  • Thrillhouse
I feel bad for the Empire Strikes Back - it got the shaft in this re-telling! ^_^
  • This is like Darth & Droids.
  • Sues
I'm simply amazed that with all that, she still doesn't seem to have seen the "I am your father!" scene.

thanks for checking out my video
  • Haha such a mash up. Cute voice though
  • Less boring than the original.
  • i still can't believe that some young kids today think the new prequel trilogy is better than the original..
  • Mr. Pendragon
Nobody thinks this. People just think other people think this, but they don't.
  • Oi Vey
I really that the kids who grew up with the prequels will realize that the older ones were great. It's like how discovered the Godfather movies in my early 20s. From there, I went to watch a bunch of 70s movies (Taxi Driver, Mean Streets). From there, foreign films, and so on. Now I'm 25 and I've a decent knowledge on films.

Sometimes, you have to give people of any generation credit. I work with a kid whos 19 who loves Akira Kurosawa, knows that the original Star Wars movies were great, etc. And he's a normal guy too.

Is that a Family Guy reference?
  • Angrybroomstick, Chicks like you give women a bad name.
  • mikle
i dont think she ever mentioned a light saber either...
  • Hans was my fav character...
  • Mine too! I love that German with the bad boy attitude!
  • Wow. That was ridiculous. and so so wrong. I can only hope my friends could explain the plot better
  • does anybody else think that gal looks like Curly Sue? Remember that movie?!?!
  • It looks exactly like her.
  • She does kinda look like curly sue.
  • That's what I said. Actually, that's what she said.
  • god. i love that movie... lol i havent seen it since 94 or something...!!
  • Chicks like you give women a bad name.
  • at least she got the character names right.
  • MadWookiee
    That was dumb.
  • Bobbio
Annnnd its a great way to stay in shape.
  • That was the funniest thing I've seen all day. Hilarious. She seems to have no concept that she might be wrong about any of it. I'd love to sit down and watch the trilogy with her just to see the confused expression on her face.
  • TeaCupDog
Curly Sue was a tool !
  • It's what they grew up watching. They think the old one is cheesy and the effects are laughable. I suppose part of the reason we like the original is nostalgia. For the same reason kids today like the prequels, cause that's what they grew up watching.
  • Freedom
I grew up with the prequels, but I allways thought the originals were the best (saw them on TV, then bought the DVD re-releases).
I don't know how anyone could thing the new trilogy is anywhere close to the original.
  • kraigcomx
Luckily, in many cases the old effects still hold up. I literally just watched it last week, and the only time the old effects looks off, is when you put them next to some really cheesy CGI-- like a musical scene for instance, or some vomit inducing cutsie robot/ annoyingly cartoony creature.

    Not that I am bitter.
  • SPARTACVS
I was the age Anakin was (9) when Phantom Menace came out (1999) and I still thought the movie was retarded.
  • FreedomPopular
The force is strong with this one...
  • I think she did a pretty good job! I mean, most of that stuff does happen to some extent.
  • Snicket
    haha that was funny.
  • starscream9289
Hello!? The Battle of Hoth, anyone!?!?!?!
  • Wow! Didn't know Solo was from Germany!?!?!? Puts a whole new perspective on Star Wars for me. And I thought I knew everything about it, boy was I wrong!
  • Freedom
She's not nearly as bad as my nephew.

He actually thought the prequels were remakes of the original trilogy.
  • Hans and Luke kiss, and some crusty old white guy that was in the Darth Vader suit dies. Hahaha, this is very hilarious.
  • cdub
that was amazing...I love that chewbacca became an ewok.
  • gadiac
That was awesome. I love leia's gold suit :)
  • Rob
Her retelling of the Star Wars saga would have made a better movie than The Phantom Menace. It would have definitely made more sense. And best yet, her retelling didn't have Jar Jar Binks.
  • Why are we not allowed to comment on Connelly's posts?
  • Patrick McGoohan is dead. Long live number 1.
  • crusty old white guy?? isn't that from a Kevin Smith movie?
  • Chris Ronin
Well, up until Hans Solo anyway...
