The Alamo Drafthouse has upcoming screenings of Escape to New York and Carrie, and they have commissioned new posters to help promote the films. More after the jump.

First up is a poster from first time poster artist, long-time comic artist, and lead animator of A Scanner Darkly, Nick Derington! His Escape from New York poster is done in a comic book style. The 5 color (including a split fountain) 24×36 poster is printed on specialty crème paper, signed and numbered and available on MondoTees.com for $30.

And Methane Studios makes their Alamo Drafthouse Debut with a poster for Carrie. The 2-color print measures 25×36, and features a clear varnish overlay. Individually numbered and available for $30 on MondoTees.

  • I love the Carrie one.
  • Agreed, the Carrie one is very impressive.
  • Most impressive...
  • Escaoe from new yourk, what a great film. This makes me wanna go re watch it..
  • The escape from new york poster is very cool poster! Like how the characters are drawn into the background
  • I'm a fan of these posters. A fan of film art in general, really. The Carrie posters wins for me.
  • Christopher Hoult
Hmm, if I hadn't just bought one of the Godfather posters, Carrie would be on its way to me...
  • the Carrie poster is fucking sweet
  • Why must you swear so much?
  • there is nothing wrong with swearing, its how some people express themself.
  • Wow, very cool posters. They are both really good.

love the alamo drafthouse...best theater in austin, TX
  • Dr. Doc
The Escape From New York one is extremely bad ass! i need to own that!
  • I like how the story says Escape to New York instead of from.

It sounds like some romantic comedy about eloping.
  • krakit
Ha ha ha I noticed that too! That's the director's cut where
the President was sick and tired of his job so he tried to
escape TO New York, but Plisskin dragged his butt outta
there and put him back to work.
  • Ryan
Makes me miss the Alamo Drafthouse...just wish i could find something like it in Minneapolis!
  • B. Larry
I see it's already mentioned, but Escape TO New York? Who are you, my Great-Aunt Fran? And as far as the Alamo Drafthouse is concerned, do any of you guys see the incongruity in that you'd be willing to have a dude SHOT because his son was talking during a movie, but you're more than willing to make me endure an even worse level of distraction at said Drafthouse, brought about by a steady hum of slurping, mastication, and wait-staff intrusions? But hey, as long as the distractions involve FOOD being delivered to your guys faces, huh?
  • I don't think anyone masitcates to the types of films shown at the Drafhouse. Plus, I'm pretty sure public mastication is illegal in Texas. You must be thinking of a different movie place you frequent.
  • Snake Plissken; coolest name in history...
  • I've never seen Escape...
  • Escape from new york, what a great film. This makes me wanna go watch it again..
  • Palmer
Well, at least the Escape from New York poster didn't have the disembodied head of the Statue of Liberty, something that was sorely missing in the movie.
  • Chase
I don't see anything special about either of these. Actually, I've not seen anything very impressive of any of the Alamo posters that have been featured on the site. There's absolutely ZERO emotion or impact. I get that the "Grindhouse" movement is kinda cool, at least for those that think they're elite movie viewers. I guess everyone has forgotten what constitutes an effective and memorable movie poster. Sad.
  • These posters make me want to take a little trip to Austin and check them out. A good chance to see these classic as they were originally intended to be seen.
  • Escape to Austin.
  • krakit
Cool Escape From New York poster

If the text wasn't on the Carrie poster, I would have
had to guess just a little while to get the movie it
was trying to promote. Most quality movie posters
give it to you in the first few seconds.
  • No Donald Pleasance on the EFNY poster, what gives? Just watched Halloween II on TV last night, oh how I miss his gun wielding Dr. Loomis antics. Although I was disappointed with Zombie's remake, I'm interested to see what he does with this NOT remake of the sequel. And now I've just gone completely off-topic. Cool posters.
