Sacha Baron Cohen is Black Jesus

Universal Pictures has begun to hold test screenings for Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen’s follow-up to Borat. Early audiences say that Cohen’s new movie will shock and “wind certain sections of society up”. According to The Sun, one of Cohen’s key characters in the film is a black model called Jesus, complete with a loincloth and a crown of thorns. That’s sure to upset religious groups.

And apparently one of the film’s major storypoints takes aim at Maddona. Bruno and his boyfriend “Diesel” adopt an African orphan named David, and proceed to parade the child around “the chic fashion capitals of the world.

  • Cohen is a comedic genuis. He puts out on the table everything that society is afraid to look at. The film Crash did the same thing. Without being cliche, Cohen gets the public thinking. And yes, people will get very angry.
  • I wish Cohen really became Black Jesus.
  • yeah, I can't stand the Sun and other British tabloids. I hate England.
  • C'mon that's a bit harsh. I hate Fox News but I'd never say "I hate America"
  • Not to make this situation worse, but Fox News is owned by an Australian so....
  • Murdoch owns The Sun as well so...
  • At least it gives a different perspective. Celebrate diversity.
  • interesting
  • Hahaha i CANNOT wait till this movie drops! PICK ME for test screening!!

Bruno will succed! Watch his videos on youtube they are hillarious.

I will definetly be seeing this

Um... isn't the Sun a british tabloid like the National Enquirer or Weekly world news? I don't think they're much of a credible source.
  • Yep, 'The Sun' is also the very reliable tabloid newspaper which printed the story that Eddie Murphy was going to be in the third Batman film...I loved 'Borat', but I'm sceptical about this film, as surely most people will have realised who Sacha is and played with his charades to simply get on the big screen.

@ C_Sozou: I assume he is called 'Diesel' (if it's been reported correctly), due to the clothing range.
  • lol... his boyfriend is called "Diesel".....? wtf
  • We have a black president, why not a black Jesus? Many in the media are already referring to Obama as a Messiah.
  • This film will make so much money.. Borat was a Huge success and Sacha was so amzed by how much money he got from it. The court cases only made it more popular.

I wish he became talented and everyone would stop watching his trash, but I guess its a free world and all.
  • Jackie/B
I am not a fan of the Sasha brand of comedy, but this movie will make money JUST because of the offensiveness. It is amazing that just because you make of ANY kind of faith, that it is counted as comedy genius.
  • Jackie/B
(*thas was make fun of) Opps!
  • Palmer
Huh, black Jesus. I wonder how many religious groups will go up in arms about that. Especially the bigoted ones.
  • As a Christian, I'm not sure people will have a problem with a black Jesus as much as they will with the symbol of Jesus taking part or being the butt of crude and (probably) sexually based jokes. I know there are racist Christians out there, but they are an ignorant minority.
  • I'm a Muslim and we Muslims greatly respect Jesus. I just don't care for the Western, white, European-ized version of Jesus that he's painted as.

I do get offended when people mock Jesus for the sake of comedy. If you're going to mock Jesus, do it for the right reasons (ie: religious hypocrisy, racism, etc)
  • Then where does Hamlet 2's "Rock Me Sexy" Jesus fall on your radar?
  • haha or how about the "I Will Survive" Jesus music video?
  • hah!
  • ohhh... well then, in that case... LOL
  • Angrybroomstick respects Jesus, but she hates Israel. Go figure.
  • i just hope that the offensiveness of this movie doesn't feel forced. Like, I hope that Cohen doesn't feel pressured to make this one 'more offensive than Borat' or anything like that. I hope he just makes the best movie he can for the character. The character is hilarious, and pretty friggin naturally offensive.
Did anybody catch the episode where Bruno went to all the gun stores and talked to the rednecks? I thought they were gonna friggin kill him. I'm surprised he made it out of there alive.
  • Spooky
The best one is that one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=UBTvAHFKbTs
    I'm so psyched for this!
  • hahaha I can't wait for this.
  • filmkid
cant wait to see Black Jesus cause u know the bigots will go crazy lol
also his boyfriend is called Diesel what a joker lol. hope this movie is good cause i like when Sacha Baron Cohen did Ali G back in the days then he bring us Borat he was funny but when he bring us Bruno i was not sure about that character cause he was not that funny like the others but i hope it works well
  • The Sun is about as reliable as my mother for film information, and she watches about three films a year. I doubt there has been any test screenings and if the information is true - they've pulled it off publically taken photos snapped during the film's shoot.

Beware, I'm pretty sure Larry Charles (the director of Borat) isn't directing Bruno meaning this could be more like the quality of Ali G: Indahouse rather than Borat (which I thought was of the most consistently hilarious comedies of the past few years).
  • Veeeeery Nice. How much?
  • Cohen's 5 minutes of fame are up for me.
  • bdayguurl
Actually, most Black Christians already know Jesus is Black, so it'll just be the White folks pissed off this time!
  • I don't seem to be too pissed off....I think it's kinda funny.
  • Sacha Baron Cohen is hilarious. I'm sick of religion all it does is starts arguments.
  • Meh.
  • he is fucking sexy too... (when he looks normal, that is)
  • Vin Diesel's
    Oh no Vin!
  • Mr. Reason
haha yea like christians are going to watch a movie about a gay jew anyway.
