Slammin’ Salmon Red Band Movie Trailer

Slammin Salmon
Collider has a uncensored red band movie trailer for Broken Lizard’s new comedy Slammin’ Salmon, which premieres at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. I’m one of those people who laughed a bunch during Super Troopers but found myself disappointed with Broken Lizard’s follow-ups - Club Dread and Beerfest. Sketchy/improvisational comedy has never really been my thing, so I guess I’m not the target audience. Check out the trailer embedded after the jump.

Plot Synopsis: The brutal former heavyweight boxing champion Cleon “Slammin’” Salmon (Michael Clarke Duncan), now owner of a Miami restaurant, institutes a competition to see which waiter can earn the most money in one night: the winner stands to gain $10,000, while the loser will endure a beating at the hands of the champ.

beerfest was awesome you handsome motherf!@#er
  • This actually looks kinda funny.
  • MacAttack
Ooh, Robin from How I Met Your Mother! I'm in.

Sidebar: I totally want Robin. Like, bad.
  • Hope this doesn't got the way of Club Dredd
  • This looks like Waiting except, you know, funny. Can't wait for this :)

+1 on the Cobie Smulders love.
  • that looks plain awful
  • mattk
whaaaaaaaaat??? club dread was probably one of their best
  • only not really.

it goes "Super Troopers", "Beerfest", "Puddle Cruiser", and then "Club Dread". and PC wasn't good at all.

fuck i love broken monkey great movies to watch when your messed up
  • fanboy_e (cmac8219)
I'd love to hear your critical analysis of this trailer. Perhaps you'll utilize such impressive quips as Michael Clarke Duncan is a stinkypants and Broken Lizard sucks! Now don't use those, they are copyrighted with such a name as fanboy_d (assuming fanboy_a through c are already taken)I'm sure you can use those creative juices to come up with something groundbreaking. Seriously, though why does this look awful to you?
  • um, you didn't MAKE the movie...no need to take it so personally. and where did the whole 'impressive quips' thing come from anyway? is cmac8219 really a better username than mine?

michael clarke duncan i love, michael clarke duncan as a george foreman/gordan ramsey hybrid even sounds like a good high concept, but that trailer wasn't the least bit funny. funny is what a comedy is supposed to be.

this looks plain awful - dead moines down there seems to agree if you're done trying to roast me...
  • Dead Moines
Apparently, the hilarity of Super Troopers was a fluke.
  • -gasp- NOOO! IT CAN'T BE!!!!
  • i'm excited. i'll be there opening weekend. just give me my "Super Troopers 2" allready!
  • Kyle
Doesnt look as good as Super Troopers or Beerfest, but I'm sure its going to funny none the less.
  • I personally can't wait for this. I love beerfest for some reason and it only got funnier to me on repeat viewings and this seems to be good. I especially like Michael Clark Duncan in the trailer.
  • "when you assume you make an asshole out of yourself" - i'm liking this already. i'm glad michael clarke duncan is finally in a movie where he's just gonna have fun and be ridiculously badass.
  • Dr. Doc
MCD is an awesome actor, i dont understand how this guy isnt a huge action star right now, he could be, like, the black Ah-nuld if he wanted to. He is freaking massive
  • Don't we all?

Also, this looks fun, defs. want to check it out
  • joe
this movie looks like its gonna be close to super trooper funny. club dread and beerfest were bit of a let down.
  • Beerfest was Great, and Club Dread was very under rated, that movie rocked. This movie will be just as funny i bet. Cant wait to see it.
  • prophecy_projectz
This looks great. I love the Broken Lizard gang's humour a lot. And is that the lovely Cobie Smulders from How I Met Your Mother I see in there? This is getting watched no doubt
"Hows everybody Feline this evening" LOL so stupid yet so funny
  • I think this looks like Club Dread's smartest comedy yet. Unless you count Club Dread as smart. Because then I pity you.

Sidebar: The characters in this one actually look unique and interesting, unlike the characters from Beerfest (although I do love that movie).
  • Bascottball
I meant Broken Lizard not Club Dread in the first paragraph. That's what I get for posting at 6 am.
  • Well, it looks like fun to me, so me and the mrs.'ll be there. Loved Troopers, Dread and 'Fest. In depressing times like these, a little bit of actual raunchy comedy rather than hair shirt whining works for me any day.
  • Hmm it looks funny but i have a feeling ill be picking this up on blu-ray from a video store
  • The only scenes from the trailer that really stood out for me, all included Michael Clarke Duncan, and I don't know whether that was because they were funny, or if I still have a soft-spot for him after watching 'The Green Mile' for the ump-tenth time...
  • krakit
I'm guessing all the good parts were delivered in the trailer.
No need to go see it now.
  • ANdrew
    watches in bruges trailer....yeah STFU
  • joshi38
Am I the only one seeing a bunch of slapstick in a kitchen? I suppose if it seems even slightly worth it to me, I'll rent it, but I doubt I'm going to be seeing this in theaters.
  • If you are not familiar with rotisserie cooking, it refers to the type of cooking where you roast different types of meats without using oils or similar substances. It is believed to be one of the healthiest ways to cook meat, as it only involves an open source of fire and a recipient that is resistant enough to cook the meat without burning it.
