More Terminator Salvation Photos

Entertainment Weekly has a few new photos from McG’s Terminator Salvation. The photo above features Christian Bale as John Connor, approaching one of the killing machines from behind. And below we have a photo comparison (or what I like to call, a really bad photoshop image) of Connor and the ”old school” T-600.

Official Plot Synopsis: “The highly anticipated new installment of “The Terminator” film franchise is set in post-apocalyptic 2018.  John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators.  But the future that Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row.  Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past.  As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.”

  • The second photo looks like a bad photoshop project.... Actually the first one does too.

    You know, I've always wondered something. How come they never have the terminator speak when looking factory fresh? The only time you see them talk is when they are gussied up to look like humans but never "naked" in the sense.

    I don't know, I guess it makes him seem more menacing if he's this silent assassin like the shark in jaws. I remember cameron mentioning that as one of his inspirations for the terminator in the T1 commentary. Either that or it'd look silly to have a skeleton robot talking.

    Is anyone else bothered by the fact that in the trailer John Connor finishes off the terminator that his helicopter lands on by shooting it in the head with a regular machine gun? (the terminators are bulletproof. That's why the soldiers of the future were always shown using laser guns in James Cameron's films...)
  • Yeah, I had to assume that they tricked out their guns or upgraded their bullets to do damage to the terminators. Couldn't imagine that they wouldn't explain something that can so easily be explained away.
  • Although I haven't watched the trailer in weeks, I do know what you're talking about. I'm not sure if he actually shoots the thing in the head or if he points his gun at it checking to make sure it's dead. Or maybe the gun is a laser good made out of a machine gun, either way I won't make a big deal about it.

    It was T-600 they landed on, there armour isnt as strong as the T-800s seen in the first 3 films.
  • Errr, yuck. These images definitely take expectations down a peg.
  • Christian Bale looks 100 times cooler than the terminators in both those photos.

  • These pictures hardly affect my opinion that this may be the best Terminator other than T2. You can't deny Christian Bale and they have already started working up the next one which is rare considering this hasn't been released yet. I don't want to get too ahead of myself but I can't help it, I'm really looking forward to this one.
  • I still have high hopes as well for this movie and hopefully these Terminator movies will be even better than the previous ones, the way Christian Bale did for the Batman franchises, but these photos just look..... bad. They are just not well done. Expectations are still high, I just wish these photos would be more impressive.

    I kind of like the first photo because it takes me back to the 80's with that red glow.

    I am not bothered by the trailer. We all know that Terminator are supposedly made of a very hard alloy that is near impregnable. Who's to say that he wasnt using some armor piercing rounds in the trailer? Yes I know its all semantics, but I try not to get hung up on minor details like this.

    I am very much looking forward to Christian Bale as John Connor. Its a must see for me.

  • Am I the only one thinking pantomime with the first photo. "John Connor...he's behind you!" :p Decent-ish photo mind, you can just imagine the suspense from that scene...
  • What are they trying to achieve from these photos? Just looks like someone photoshoped really badly photos together...looks almost fanmade
  • They very well could be. but then again why not release some images to try to get more people interested in this film. I know they don't look the best but they do have a pic of a terminator up close. that right now is enough to make me happy I looked at these today.

    McG for Christ's sake! Even the awesome Christian Bale can't save this dog of a movie and McG's lack of any directing talent.
