LOL: Eagle Eye’s Alternative Ending

In my weekly Blu-or-Not column, I made mention of the alternative ending which was included on the Eagle Eye DVD/Blu-ray. If you didn’t think the movie was already insanely convoluted and ridiculous, the ending is sure to push you over the edge. I can’t believe that they were actually ever considering showing this on the big screen in theaters. People would have been laughing in the isles I’m sure. The ending has shown up on YouTube and is available below. Thanks to David Chen for the tip.

  • Seeing that ending lays bare the mentality behind the whole movie, and kind of explains how they were able to take a good concept and f*** it up so royally. They had their heads up their asses.
  • To me that wasn't any much more worse than the already cheesy Hollywood ending that the film contained anyway, and the worst part of that for me (apart from the kiss) was the constant product whoring of 'Rockband'. I seem to remember the child actors seem to mention Rockband at least seven or eight times, talk about cramming it down our throats! "We've got Rockband, Rockband, Rockband, buy Rockband, lets play Rockband, Rockband, Rockband, Rockband..."
  • That's mindless entertainment for you.
  • Andrew Aiello
MTV did pay for placement but Speilberg who produced eagle eye is also a big fan fo rock band he reportedly plays teh drums when he plays with his family.
  • Lmfao, that's got to be an inside joke.
  • blink182pac
I feel an Eagle Eye 2 creeping up.....
  • Andrew
you're kidding right... i mean if you look deep the whole lyric "just when you think your in control" could play to some part of the movie... but what the hell caruso?
  • Joe
Well, it's a push for a sequel, so "Here It Goes Again" is actually a pretty smart song to use in the situation. Otherwise... no.
  • Yikes, yea i haven't seen the movie but just seemed like a totally random ending. But hey, at least its not guitar hero, i see that shit everywhere.
  • This alternative ending is actually the one written in the March 28, 2007 version of the 'Eagle Eye' script in which ARIA manages to upload herself to a military satellite so she's still functional even though they manage to shut her down at the Pentagon. I'm so glad they got rid of it!
  • They should have had Michelle Monaghan come out and exclaim, "Jerry Shaw, I am your father." That would have been a perfect ending to a movie that steals everyone's ideas.
  • Too bad that Sam kid looks like he's going to burst into laughter any second. And also I like how one of the special features is "Is my cell phone spying on me?" hahaha
  • HOLY CRAP that was hilariously bad! I just saw Eagle Eye for a $1 at the discount theater and I'm not sure it was worth it. This ending would have pushed me all the way over the edge.
  • michael
i really wished he would have dyed. That would have been a way better ending
  • Palmer
That was the worst thing I have ever seen in my life. And I've seen Manos...though I got to give them kudos on the blatant product placement!
  • LOL... they should've kept it. Eagle Eye would've become a cult classic with that ending (sarcasm),
  • William Goss
Laughing in the isles? Like, Indonesia? ;)
  • C'mon that was so much better! Not.
  • Graham7x
that probably goes toe to toe with phenomena with best ending ever
  • edc
y the last man will be a 2 hour ad for durex condoms and toyota
  • Joe
My friends thought I (our prerequisite movie nerd) recommended Eagle Eye last night when they rented it. I was simply listing movies that had come out lately.

Imagine my disappointment when we found out this ending was only on Blu-Ray.

Also, I put more thought into it and it'd be more awesome if they were playing Still Alive, and the mic became unplugged, and suddenly the game starts back up with ARIA singing the song to the music.

Also, 5 (6?) kids playing Rock Band, a 4-person game, at the same time. WTF
  • So he bought Rock Band and got a kiss on the cheek...
    Bad mom.
  • Rob
A better alternative ending would have been to make the opening credits the ending and save me an hour and a half of my life watching this crappy movie.
  • Rob, get a life, Eagle Eye was a good popcorn movie. Leave your brain at the door next time and you might enjoy yourself.
  • Rob
I have no problem with mindless action flicks. I have even enjoyed a few Michael Bay movies. I just felt it was a contrived movie with horrible action sequences. If the car chase scenes weren't so sciophernic, maybe I would have enjoyed it more. When I watch mindless popcorn flicks, I do require coherent action sequences.
  • ???
    W.T.F.
  • I enjoyed Eagle Eye for what it was a waste of a couple of hours with a decent action flick. But I would have liked Shia to have died when he got shot, so he would sacrifice himself for his country or whatnot.
  • Ed P.
I liked Eagle Eye. It was fast, fun and techy. That said, this alternative ending is total crap. Going from an intense action/morality sequence to a crappy rock band/B-movie "to be continued" type ending is just plain stupid. Who's idea was that anyways?
  • That was a nearly at Casino Royale's level of obvious product placement
  • Anthony_S
Seriously, it's 2008, don't people have video capture cards? Not that it would improve that scene in any meaningful way. The producers were definitely going for a sequel. Or maybe a childrens version of Enemy of the State.
  • oh my god. I haven't even seen the movie and that was RIDICULOUS.
  • Not only was the ending bad but the quality was horrible. Did someone just film their screen and put it on youtube?
  • omg
worse 2008 theatre movie of the year.
  • I saw the movie...and dont even wanna waste another mminute and a half to see the alternative ending...
  • Wow, that would have sucked big time if I saw that in theaters. It's a good thing I waited for the DVD.
  • haha i was watching it thinking this has to be a joke. All the actors are on the verge of laughing.
