More Transformers 2 Photos and Info Revealed

Yesterday, the first photos from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen were released online thanks to Empire Magazine. Now Dreamworks has released a second batch of photos in the latest edition of USA Today. Here are a few tidbits we learned from the article:

The film’s plot involves the Decepticons are out to capture Sam due to information he “learned about the origins of the Transformers and their ancient history of Earth.” I’m guessing this all has something to do with the Pyramids in Egypt. Empire confirms that Egyptian hieroglyphics turn out to be depictions of Transformers who visited Earth long ago.

Humanity is still trying to figure out which Transformers can be trusted and are there to exterminate humans. “The US military and an international coalition has united with the good-guy Autobots.”

In the scene above, soldiers penetrate “a hidden bunker” wondering “What is that glowing blue thing?”

Th article confirms that Decepticon Soundwave is the “fearsome communications expert” and that Devastator’s “arms and legs are built out of other Transformers.”

The scene above shows Shia LaBeouff and Megan Fox running from an “ancient temple while villainous Decepticons stomp and crush their way through a village in pursuit” and into a “line of tanks and soldiers blasting guns at the giant robots above and behind them.” Photo seen below. You will also notice that Shia’s hand injury has been written into the film.

“Among the equipment the movie is using in this desert sequence alone: two A-10 Thunderbolt II “Warthog” tank-killing jets; six F-16 Fighting Falcons; 10 armored Humvees; the Army’s Golden Knights parachute team; two Abrams tanks; two Bradley tanks; two missile-launcher vehicles; two armored personnel carriers; and a quarter-mile of the missile testing range, cleared of unexploded ordnance and built into an Egyptian town and temple.”

The Egyptian government gave Michael Bay “first-time access to the 5,000-year-old site” where they were “allowed to shoot on the pyramids — not just around them.” We see Agent Simmons (John Turturro) on one of the pyramids in the photo below.

The film’s budget is $200 million and the movie has around 40 robots.

Michael Bay claims that MEgatron does not return in the sequel and that the tank toy is just a toy. I’m not buying it.

  • PRIME RULES. They should have broght back the guy who originally did Megatrons voice. Or at least the guy who did starscreams voice. they really messed things up... bad.
  • Jackson
It might be kinda hard to bring back the voice actor for the original Starscream...he died in '94. Even still, this movie is gonna rock and rock hard. F the haters, I'm geeked!
  • nathrat
Michael Bay didn't think Megatron's voice was "nasty" enough for his movie.
  • i thought hugo weaving was brilliant as megatron. i think bay hit the first one out of the park, and will do the same with this one.
  • You should buy the tank toy for yourself Peter, you deserve it.
  • Does anyone really give a shit anymore?
  • your mom does
  • Needs more stuff that blows up.
  • Ha ha yeh!!! More AWESOME stuff! Make it more.....AWESOMER!!!
  • I must admit that while I wasn't blown away by TF1, and I am reeaaallllly not a big fan of Michael Bay, I might actually like this one. I am encouraged by reports they are evening out the focus on humans and bots (I thought there wasn't enough actual Transformers in the movie other than action sequences), and also holding back on some of the forced humor. The one thing that was great about TF1 was the action, so if that's what there is going to be more of in TF2, I'm all for it.

Really? This sounds so fucking horrible!!!

I don't see the big deal about this plot detail. We probably get more details later so we can actually have a better understanding of the final story.
  • nope, no
  • starscream9289
    MORE FUCKING ROBOTS!!!!
  • im in fear of this sequel like really hope this is the 2009 movie
  • Picture 4 tells me all I need to know about this movie. BOOM!
  • uhnnn
    ch ka co kew ...
  • El Bart-O
That's how I wanna see Optimus! Fresh outta of battle!
  • I'm gonna guess that Megatron only shows up at the very end to set up #3 after the Decepticons fail to get Sam and/or destroy Prime and the rest of the Autobots and know they need Megatron's help to do it.
  • optimusprime
Im not buying about Megatron not returning either.
  • Governments sure do love Michael Bay.

For some reason I read "shoot on" the pyramids as "shoot at" and momentarily became enraged
  • i think the decepticons want sam because he's really the fifth cylon and they want the secrets he holds about earth's past - not to mention the ironic t-shirts

yeah, i dont buy that megatrons not coming back, either. he's gotta. maybe theyre gonna make megatron speak out of another transformer (like in south park after cartman ate kenny's ashes and then he spoke through him sometimes)
  • Koti TROTF
Megatron returns bc Scorponok retrieves his body by tunnelin into earths crust and dragging megatrons body to the surface then Scorponok sacrafices his spark to revive megatron which explains megatrons brand new look....and if ne one is wondering if the Audi R8 is an autobot??? It is because on the behind the scenes video, The R8 is blocking the path for the bikes(Arcee) but slides outta the way for her to proceed then R8 follows her as they head to the autobots base...
  • Palmer
Wait, the Egyptian government gave him access to the Pyramids.....the man whose movies always have giant explosions!? Are they big fans of Transformers or something? Or do they hope that he might blow up the Pyramids for fear of something like Stargate might happen?
  • He must have good producers spinning the right things for him.
  • That sucks Megatron won't be back. I wonder what the blue thing is?
  • optimusprime
    my movies for 09:
    Transformers 2
    Wolverine
    Terminator Salvation
    Watchmen
  • Bay fancies himself a JJ Abrams-esque marketeer, but works at about half the intelligence. The funny thing is, his marketing campaign is so stupid, it attracts the retards that see his movies.
  • Haha those new-years-eve-rocket-explosions are so...cool!? Does Bay have patent on those? I think so. Especially when it's filmed through a "sunset filter" :P

I'm sure it will be entertaining, like the first one. Which I by the way watched at a theater in Amsterdam drinking bear ("I'm talking about a glass of beer" ;)), something that will not happen with the second one. So, perhaps I will not enjoy it as much as the first... Loads of rubbish there, you're welcome :D
  • "$200m budget and over 40 robots." Already it's sounding like a popcorn movie I'm definitely going to be seeing on opening night (basically, like the first Bay 'Transformers' film for me). Also that photo of Optimus Prime looks brilliant. Michael Bay - He may not be aesthetically brilliant or thought-provoking, but he knows how to entertain the masses!
  • very exciting... now we need a teaser...
  • marz
i had the whole set of destructacons that formed devastator.that was one of my favorite christmas presents i got that year.they all came in one pack.i cant wait to see them on screen!the dinobots were also my favorite and i had two of those but,as far as them being in the movie...thats not actually being 'in disguise' so it wont work.i'll be there opening day because, unlike most folk on here,i enjoy mike bay movies.yes they're big in explosions and over the top but isn't that entertainment?
  • I don't care what you say about this movie, be it the plot or whatever.. seriously, how deep of a plot can you get when the main characters are toys..? Be thankful Bay atleast understands that people like Transformers because they break shit. This could have turned into something like GI JOE, but instead they chose the man who does things his way and it turns out his way is perfect for the Transformers.

Anyone else complains, fuck you, they're toys not a Tolstoy novel.
  • Thank you

although, I am still not entirely bummed on GI Joe as I've heard it has some good stuff in it... like massive 20-min action set pieces for all intense and purposes
  • 790
I can't wait to not see this !
  • this looks pretty awesome. I liked the first one a lot, so i am excited about this one
  • i like that they wrote the injury into the movie for some reason. seems like a little piece of movie history...
  • Devastator. I'm THERE!
  • Hot4Fox
Bull fucking shit! we all know that megatron returns, so why not introduce unicron?
  • faintin over megan
    exactly! bring primus to
  • howwow
(I didn't read all the posts, so apologies if there is already a similar post)

Bay claimed Megatron is not returning in the sequel movie, but "of course", he or what was left of him was thrown into the deep ocean, and part of the All-Sparks was in his chest.

Maybe he "mutated" and return as GALVATRON!!
