Push Movie Poster

IMPA has the new poster for Summit Entertainment’s sci-fi thriller Push. The concept is pretty cool, but the footage that premiered at Comic Con was unimpressive (to be nice). The theatrical poster hints at some of the film’s many possibilities.

Push hits theaters on February 6th 2009.

Official Plot Synopsis: A riveting action-thriller, Push burrows deep into the deadly world of psychic espionage where artificially enhanced paranormal operatives have the ability to move objects with their minds, see the future, create new realities and kill without ever touching their victims. Against this setting, a young man and a teenage girl take on a clandestine agency in a race against time that will determine the future of civilization. The Division, a shadowy government agency, is genetically transforming citizens into an army of psychic warriors—and brutally disposing of those unwilling to participate. Nick Gant (Chris Evans), a second-generation telekinetic or “mover,” has been in hiding since the Division murdered his father more than a decade earlier. He has found sanctuary in densely populated Hong Kong—the last safe place on earth for fugitive psychics like him—but only if he can keep his gift a secret.

Nick is forced out of hiding when Cassie Holmes (Dakota Fanning), a 13-year-old clairvoyant or “watcher,” seeks his help in finding Kira, (Camilla Belle), an escaped “pusher” who may hold the key to ending the Division’s program.  Pushers possess the most dangerous of all psychic powers: the ability to influence others’ actions by implanting thoughts in their minds. But Cassie’s presence soon attracts the attention of the Division’s human bloodhounds, forcing Nick and Cassie to flee for their lives. With the help of a team of rogue psychics, the unlikely duo traverses the seedy underbelly of the city, trying to stay one step ahead of the authorities as they search for Kira. But they find themselves square in the crosshairs of Division Agent Henry Carver (Djimon Hounsou), a pusher who will stop at nothing to keep them from achieving their goal.

  • SAS
    seems like this years Jumper
  • Exactly what I thought when I saw the trailer. Now that superhero flicks are pretty common, Push looks plain boring.

I'm sure it's quite excellent and thus has received the coveted February release date....
  • While it's an interesting premise, the trailer just didn't reflect the film in a right way and has such subsided my interest in the film. As 'SAS' wrote above, it simply looks like 'Jumper 2' with no real defining qualities that make me want to see the film.
  • I'm still interested in this film.
  • the film sounds okay to me.
  • use the force Luke
  • The Fail Unleashed!
  • Weyland_Yutani
defining quality = Camilla Belle :)

I don't know anything about this film, but from the synopsis given, I see they at least had the good sense not to call it a remake of The Fury.

Isn't this the Heroes rip off movie?
  • [A]
    isn't HEROES a rip-off already?
  • You guys, this is NOTHING like Heroes! You see, in Heroes there are these people that have one or two super powers that they can't explain and then there's like this weird agency that we don't know much about that is trying to capture and torture/study the mutants. And Push is TOTALLY different. They have people with one or two super powers that are hunted by a weird agency that we don't know much about that is trying to capture/torture the mutants. See the difference? It's like The Mentalist and Psych - nothing alike at all.
  • I saw the trailer and the movie doesn't look too bad...
  • [A]
All it needs is a little push
  • Trailer doesn't look all that bad. Could be the next Jumper or it could turn out to be somewhat decent. Either way I'm willing to give it a shot.

Yet they can't predict box office returns.

    Tsk.
  • *shruggs* I saw the trailer and it looked 'meh', you know? Plus the CG in the trailer looked horrid. I dunno, might be a fun renter but it could so easily go very, very wrong.
  • Alan
I guess TIm Kring went ahead and did make the Heroes movie errr wait what?
  • Don't be fooled by any of this marketing... this movie will tank!
  • I got a mad headache just reading that confusing synopsis. This stars Fanning, which means I steer pretty clear.
  • are u kidding? I like Dakota FAnning, she was quite good in The Secret Life of The Bees. I hope she;ll grow up to be a well adjusted actress like Jodie Foster.
  • You're allowed to like Dakota, that's cool. I liked her in I AM SAM, but that's about all.
  • Man on Fire had Fanning in it, nuff said.
  • Plot synopsis sounds very original. This sounds ok I guess, nothing really special I would have to say. I'm going to have to see a great looking trailer in order to go to see this one in theaters.
  • Original? I thought this was an ad for Heroes, wait ... I mean X-Men, ...er...
  • The trailer is already out.
  • Thanks for the heads up. I actually noticed it after I posted but didn't want to go back and edit it.
  • Yeah I saw that after I posted but didn't want to edit it. I have to say that after watching the trailer, the film looks alright. I would definitely watch it sometime in my life.
  • First thing i thought... was... Jumper...... epic fail
  • danno
See that matchbox over there? See it? Watch this.

    hurghhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaa!

    Hmm.

My sidekick powers it is kaput!
  • TomC
Sounds exactly like Heroes to me
  • Sounds like Dark City 2 to me.
  • This poster does nothing for me. Big MEH.
  • It's a complete rip-off, but I will watch for Dakota/Torch banter. >_>
  • Upon immediate viewing the poster just looks shitty -- then I noticed my favorite building from all of Chicago (360 N. Michigan) was copied and pasted right in the middle, and apparently is floating above whatever street this is suppose to be. Cue my nerdy, Chicago loving rage.
  • It's pure shit. Everyone knows it.
