New Posters: Land of the Lost & Fast and Furious

Universal has premiered a movie poster for their big screen take of Land of the Lost and the sequel Fast and Furious. Click on the images above to see the large versions on Cinematical and MTV. The Land of the Lost poster looks silly and CG’d, which goes right alongside my expectations of the film. The Fast and Furious poster looks like something a 5th grader created in photoshop, which makes sense because I’m expecting the film to have a 5th-grade-level of story construction.

Official Fast and Furious Plot Synopsis: When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmaneuver him. And from convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge: push the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel. Fast and Furious hits theaters on April 3rd 2009.

Official Land of the Lost Plot Synopsis:Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world—a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost. Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally—a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone)—to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they’re heroes. Get stuck, and they’ll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost. Based on the classic television series created by Sid & Marty Krofft, Land of the Lost is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Jimmy Miller and Sid & Marty Krofft. Land of the Lost hits theaters on June 5th 2009.

  • The one with Vin Diesel looks pretty good, I can't wait for that one.

I have seen like ten people misspell "Will Ferrell". Please get it right. You're making yourself look stupid when knowledge is only an IMDB search away.

    Seriously....
  • The best thing about this movie actually happened in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (Will Ferrell's character's name: Marshall Willenholly)

I apologize for my snarky comment, but wouldn't you agree that pointing out Fast and Furious' poor "story construction" is redundant? We have three prior films to show us that. It's the typical stuck-up film schooler thing to say. Like chuck said above, these are supposed to be fun movies, not Oscar contenders, so why not report on them as such instead of making fun of them by stating stuff we already know and expect?
  • Meh, double-meh. Not even worth downloading. You know you're film/premise/poster/trailer/marketing is lame when you can't even get the torrent happening by more than a couple hundred users.

  • What's the name of the creature in the LotL right mountaintop?

I don't care about W. Ferrell's involvement; he's hit and miss for me. Loved Anchorman, couldn't understand for the life of me why people could even get through Talladega Nights. I'm excited about anything by Sid and Marty being brought back; I remember loving even the remake of the original tv series.

    So... is HR PufnStuf next?

    Cause.. you know...

I'm sorry, but did you really expect the "story construction" of Fast and Furious to be anything more than 5th grade level? I hate to say it, but not everything can be the Wrestler or Slumdog Millionaire.
  • You highlighted Peter's point perfectly, further illustrating how correct he is... now, may I ask why you 'hated to say' : "not everything can be the Wrestler or Slumdog Millionaire." ?? Seems pretty obvious, no?

    Will Farell is friggin funny
  • I'm pretty sure Will Ferrell has attempted to branch out. Try Stranger Than Fiction, Melinda & Melinda and Winter Passing. Bewitched was a bit of a change of pace, but the flick was ass-terrible

I'm still pretty bewildered as to why Universal moved Furious into April.
  • haha "ass-terrible" That's a new word combo to me. I love it.
  • Look out will the Dino is gonna get ya! I am so scared for his life.
  • Joe
Danny McBride + Anna Friel + Jorma Taccone = I will see Land of the Lost

I'm happy Anna is getting more work outside of Pushing Daisies (RIP). She's a great actress who deserves more limelight.
  • they came out with the new jp4 poster to keep land of the lost from stealin all the dino hype btw, http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/39680/jp4.jpg
  • I'm not excited about either of these films. Oh wait... Jordana Brewster...
  • I'm not excited about either of these films.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Land of the Lost is gonna fail miserably at the box office?
  • What does that matter? Do you watch movies based on how much money they are projected to make?
  • no he just probably said that to sound like some important holly wood person.
  • chuck
so cynical pete. . . these movies will be a lot of fun regardless. ..

I imagine that Land of the Lost is going to be somewhat like Kicking & Screaming, which did make me laugh here and there, and i love danny mcbride so yeah, will probably see it!
  • Kicking and Screaming had some funny moments for sure. His slow transformation into a Ditka like bully of a coach was fun to watch, and that movie is worth the coffee shop disruption scene itself.
  • I think the art needs to be less just stock and something a little bit more eye popping. Im talking about land of the lost.
  • The Fast and the Furious need to stop being made!

I will see LAND OF THE LOST, I have a soft spot for family movies
  • ugh_doom
Will Farrel has always been bad.

But, Michelle Rodriguez on the other hand.....

Either way, I don't even consider these posters news-worthy, except as an easy laugh/groan for the day.

Both posters don't even look real, they look like fan-made. Terrible.
  • LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Danny McBride's face in the Land of the Lost one.
  • Ki77erB
It gets bad when you remember a funny line of his, but you cant remember if it was step-brothers, talladega nights, semi-pro, old school, etc because there all the same. I mean, try to branch out, act a little. Maybe he wouldn't get type-cast like this. And that goes the same for Danny McBride. Im starting to send a trend with these guys. What happened to Hollywood?
  • Tap Zepol
Hollywood never typecasted or put actors into boxes before now? Must have been magical... =P
  • Stranger than Fiction was alright...but I know what you mean buddy...
  • "The Fast and Furious poster looks like something a 5th grader created in photoshop, which makes sense because I’m expecting the film to have a 5th-grade-level of story construction." HAHAHAHA!!! I'm still gonna go see it though because I love the cars...and Jordana Brewster...
  • I know, that was so funny. PETER YOU CRACK ME UP!
  • Lenny
Saw the trailer before yes man and I hate those movies but Damn the 87 Grand National that Vin is driving!!! love that car.
  • Ki77erB
Will Farrell is old news, his characters are beggining to blend together into one sticky mess. I cant watch anything else after step-brothers.
  • Whatever.....Slash Film is full of Will Farrel haters This doesn't surprise me one bit.
  • I felt the same way about him during his last SNL season... I haven't seen ANY of his movies :P
  • You haven't seen Anchorman? Judging by how a poster looks is like having a 5th Grade mentality. How can anyone take any opinion seriously if it's based on how it looks?

Valkyrie has a cool poster, so it's probably going to be a good movi. Right Peter?
  • Valkyrie is going to be the single greatest depiction of English speaking actors trying to recapture German history that has ever been produced. It's like soooo authentic.
  • "Valkyrie is going to be the single greatest depiction of English speaking actors trying to recapture German history that has ever been produced." there you go again, setting an opinion of the movie in stone that you haven't even seen yet.
  • Judging by the poster and the not the production photos, trailer or clips from the film I've seen, I agree 100%.

I hope they have a mini documentary in the Blu Ray extras that covers the making of the poster. I think I'd nominate that film for Documentary of the Year.
