New Inglourious Basterds Photo

Filmz.ru has a new photo from Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. It appears to show Mélanie Laurent as Shoshanna Dreyfus, a Jewish girl who is the only survivor of a bloody Nazi manhunt, and her projectionist friend/lover Marcel, played by Jacky Ido. Thanks to /Film reader Christopher M for the tip. I’m not exactly sure what is going on in the picture (who is the guy on the table), maybe someone that has read the script might be able to clarify in the comments.

  • Nothing too exciting
  • seems i the only one agreeing with ya...

WHAT!!?! New BATMAN gossip: Eddie Murphy as the Riddler, Shia LaBeouf as Robin!

NO JOKE. Google it, since PETER won't let me put up a link!!!!

Also, the ending is a cliffhanger; bomb in Wayne Mansion; uncertain who makes it out!

    OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!
  • I am really excited about this film. Any picture is worth a look, even if it does not make much sense.
  • kellen
i think that nazi is about to be scalped.
  • steve
not sure where this is from but it seems like the beginning of chapter 5 maybe when the 2 of them are in the screening room
  • StrawDog
That girl looks alot like Uma Thurman.
  • Ender
I was going to post the same thing. I think Tarantino definitely has an Uma complex.
  • Weyland_Yutani
I also was going to comment on the Uma-ness. I guess the question is if Tarantino will now find a way to compose a shot highlighting her feet.
  • Drake Whalterson
She’s about to take his ear.
  • Gotta be after the first half. I read all the way up to the half way point and then begrudgingly forced myself to stop reading. I would guess that it's a nazi soldier who stumbled onto their scheme. Don't think it's the actor, can't imagine he would find out before the big day ;-)
  • Adrian
The man on the table develops film and they need him. It's not incredibly important to the story, not in the grand scheme of things anyway. It's no scalping by the by. Great scene, or will be. lol
  • Boti
Does the girl look like Katie Sackhoff to anyone else?
  • she looks like she's about to chop the guy's head off.
  • She looks like Uma Turman!
  • I can't wait for this movie. Tarantino's been working on this story forever now. I really hope its going to be one of the best movies in a long time.
  • I've been looking forward to this film for so long i almost don't even care anymore. Almost...
  • Noddy
Adrian is on the money, they are coercing the man to develop a special film they are making.
  • JCMilan
Tell me when any pics of Julie Dreyfus are added!
  • Now this excites me as it is a departure from his regular style, but I just wondering if I'm the only one noticing the complete desaturated color in this film ( given the three set photos that Ive seen)... Where as in most Tarantino films the coloring plays an important role... Yes, I note the subject matter and justly so it makes sense, but honestly to conceptualize this in my head I thought of a colorful Tarantino film based in WW2 it would just be so out of place it would be cool to be overly colorful.

I've only read the cold open of the script ,but even then I saw color and these photos are making me wonder either they are going to do one hell of a color correct in post ,or this movie is going to look like a 4 hour version of "hogans heroes".
  • I respect your opinion, but this takes place in Nazi occupied France, in the midst of a world war. I'm pretty sure that characters aren't thinking about the most colorful things to wear. But i do see what you're saying.

You think it might have to do with Guillermo Navarro's absense maybe? Either way I'm pretty sure that Tarantino definitely took this into account.
  • Page 85 of the script. The man on the table is Gaspar the "fatherly figure of all the experimental French film-makers in the decade before German rule." This is the scene where Shosanna says "Prepare to die, collaborator f**ker." It's short, but sweet.

With these new pictures, and my constant need to re-read this beautiful script, my anticipation heightens for 'Inglorious Basterds'.

  • Anytime a woman has an axe I always get a feeling something really bad is gonna happen...
  • they would make a good killing team, very Quentin Tarantino like =P
  • Sheldon
I think they are robbing a hardware store-the man is holding down the cashier while the woman is stealing an axe from the "home and garden" section.

I'll never understand what compels people to read scripts before a film is released. I could never do this.
  • I love to read original non-fiction screenplays (especially when they come from the pen of a knowledgeable or varied mind as your always guaranteed something different to read) as at the end of the day all screenplays are, are a work of literature and I love to read engaging pieces of literature, whether it be a novel, a screenplay, memoirs, a poem, etc. Also knowing the source material does not mean I will not enjoy the film (hell, with my group of loud-mouth friends, I've had plenty of endings/twists spoilt, but still thoroughly enjoyed the films).
  • Still not sure if I should be excited for this one. It's been so long in the making, I've practically lost interest.
  • I'm sure when the trailer comes out we'll all get our interest back.
  • GOOFRIP
    Agree
  • Looks like Amy Poehler with an axe.
