I Love You, Man Movie Trailer

Dreamworks has released the official movie trailer for Along Came Polly director John Hamburg’s new comedy I Love You, Man, which stars Paul Rudd as a newly engaged guy sets out to find the perfect “Best Man” for his wedding. The film costars Jason Segel, Jaime Pressly, Andy Samberg, Jon Favreau, and Rashida Jones. I’m a big fan of many of the actors involved, but I just didn’t find the trailer all that funny. I also wasn’t a fan of Along Came Polly either. Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

You can watch the trailer in High Definition on Yahoo. I Love You, Man is scheduled to hit theaters on March 20th 2009. SXSW announced last night that the movie would be the opening night film of the 2009 SXSW Film Festival (I’ve included the press release after the jump.

Austin, Texas — December 15, 2008 — The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival announced today that the DreamWorks Pictures film “I Love You, Man” will be the 2009 Opening Night film. The De Line Pictures comedy, co-written and directed by John Hamburg (“Along Came Polly,” co-writer of “Meet The Parents,” “Meet The Fockers,” and “Zoolander”) stars Paul Rudd, Jason Segel and Rashida Jones. The film centers on a man who, upon getting engaged, realizes he has no close male friends and must find someone to be the Best Man at his wedding. The South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival runs March 13 – 21, 2009 in Austin, Texas.

“We are thrilled to have ‘I Love You, Man’ kick off the 2009 festival. The film is the perfect representation of the kind of smart and unconventional humor that SXSW audiences flock to,” said Film Conference and Festival Producer Janet Pierson, “and we are happy to welcome back SXSW Alumni Paul Rudd and Jason Segel.” Rudd appeared in three films at the 2007 Festival (“Knocked Up,” “The Ten” and “Diggers”) and Segel attended in 2008 with “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” In true SXSW synergy where film, music and new media intersect, Rashida Jones’ father, legendary music producer Quincy Jones, will serve as Keynote speaker for the SXSW Music 2009. 2008 SXSW Opening Night film “21” opened theatrically to $24.1 million following its highly successful debut at the festival.

“I Love You, Man” follows Peter Klaven (Rudd), a successful real estate agent who, upon getting engaged to the woman of his dreams, Zooey, (Jones), discovers that he has no male friend close enough to serve as his Best Man, so he embarks on a series of bizarre and awkward “man-dates,” before meeting Sydney Fife (Segel). But the closer the two men get, the more Peter’s relationship with Zooey suffers, ultimately forcing him to choose between his fiancée and his newfound “bro,” in a story that comically explores what it truly means to be a “friend.” The film opens wide on March 20th, 2009.

  • this movie looks hilarious and rashida jones is hot.
  • Jake
    yeah she is!
  • So is Jaime Pressly.
  • that bit with segel was funny. total l.a. psycho.
  • I want to see more!! How are there teasers for teaser trailers?
  • I want to see more!! How are there teasers for teaser trailers?
I am excited about it though.
  • Glad to see Paul Rudd again. He's a funny man.
  • @Moses, funniest white man in america. lol!
  • Agreed.
  • Christopher M
it looks generic because it was cut for a generic entertainment program...access hollywood is one of the most mind numbingly stupid shows on TV...it's pretty much pointless...I remember when those shows used to actually cover only movies
  • I saw an early cut of this film recently and I will say it is absolutely hilarious. The laughs per minute quotient is high but it's also got a lot of heart. It's perfectly cast and I can't wait to see it again when it finally hits theaters. This little teaser doesn't do much for the film but I can't recommend it enough.
  • Paul Rudd is hilarious.
  • I saw Seth Rogen in the background.
  • another boring white frat boy humor movie. I'll pass.
  • Why do these guys get labeled with this "frat" tag? Don't you realize that Rudd, Rogen, Samberg, Jonah Hill, Justin Long, etc. aren't cool enough to get into a frat?

I think you're confusing them with the "Frat Pack" that includes Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, etc.
  • I think the point was that it was Frat boy humor. In other words, this movie may appear on Alpha Delta Zeta Peta Pi's top 10 list of movies for 2009. It will be directly above American Pie 5: I like to eat Pie.
  • yes, that's what I meant by "frat boy humor."
  • Chelsea
    I don't give a damn.
I'm a woman who would never EVER go into a sorority, consider myself to be more artsy, and care a lot about intelligence and all that damn pretentious stuff.
And you know what I say to so called "frat boy humor?"
    GIVE ME MORE OF IT
I spent my younger years trying to take myself WAY too seriously, and trying to act like I was too good for "stupid humor."
But now I go, "I don't really care if this is intelligent or not. It's really really funny."
I'll totally go see this just because of Jason Segel.
  • rachel summers
    WORD
  • Yeah the point is its funny shit frat boys eat up but is hardly scintillating filmmaking.
  • DAMSEN
to each his own man, but this seems more date material than a bunch of guys sitting around drinking type of movie
  • I'm pretty sure frat boy humor would be more along the lines of those stupid spoof movies. Well that's who i figured watched those movies.
  • Rudd can do no wrong.
  • WTF was that? was that a trailer? Cuz it was kinda bizarre. It ended kinda weird.
  • rudd=awesome
    rashida jones=gorgeous

and it looks like theres a good supporting cast too. hi-larious
  • I like Paul Rudd but that looked like the same old, same old.
  • Joe
That's it. I've HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERFUCKING TRAILER "PREVIEWS" THAT CONSIST OF HALF THE FUCKING TRAILER FROM ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT on my MOTHERFUCKING /FILM!

No, seriously, this is terrible. A trailer for a trailer? Great job, ET, you've made yourselves more useless.
  • You had me at Paul Rudd!

Along Came Polly was actually funny. If they would have casted someone other than Jennifer Aniston in that role, it would have be a bigger success. Classic line "I Sharted."
  • That one line made the movie. I really enjoy it when Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays a funny character.
  • Been here, seen this (type of film before). I'll wait for the DVD, thanks. Not worth a cinema ticket.
  • Phoebe Bufett
I can't wait to not see that!
  • Pumpkin Pie
i still see him as the gay character in that horrible jennifer aniston movie.

not that there's anything wrong with that.

god, that was a horrible movie.
  • Elissa
The concept is silly, but I'd watch Paul Rudd read aloud the phone book. Dude's hilarious. And HOT! There, I said it.
  • I agree. well sans hot but the dude is good looking iguess
  • richg
haha, so funny, the bit about the fart was hilarious, i'm psyched.
  • Alex
    Definitely seeing it.

And major thumbs up for the Pixies song. Even if it may have been chosen more for the title ("Here Comes Your Man"), works perfectly.
  • Chelsea
"Here Comes Your Man" is an amazing song.
Is it wrong that I want to see this movie about 20% more now because it was in the trailer?
  • I found the trailer hilarious. Count me in.
  • I just have to say again that this movie's going to be great. I've watched the trailer about 4 times now and it keeps getting funnier.
  • Well i know what i'm doing on March 20th. Paul Rudd FTW
  • Burt
    Mediocre, but Segel saves it.
  • Ryan
I was set back with the title (personal only no offense), but the story itself I can relate to which makes it interesting to see. I'm in the same boat as probably many guys where all my friends are female. Curious what the movie does with the storyline. Already told my friends to check this out.
  • Blah Blah Blah
I like all the actors, like the music they used, like the concept, but something just isn't clicking for me.
  • sean coates
jason segal is amazing iam in
  • rnl
I thought it looked alright, great concept.
I'll be there just cause so my great people are in it.
  • vincentvega
Jason Segel + Paul Rudd + Andy Samberg + Pixies == fantastic.

BTW, Role Models is the most underrated comedy of the year. Hands down.
  • Chelsea
    About Role Models:

I was upset with the first half of the movie, because it was basically just an extended version of the trailer. But it's all worth it for the ending. Most hilarious last half hour of any movie I've seen in a long time.
  • I totally agree Role Models was Awesome...I fucking loved that movie...
  • Segel and Rudd is a winning combination for me.
Role Models was funny but got too into the medieval-mclovin subplot.
  • boring... i'm tired of white frat boy movies.
