20th Century Fox has finally released the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie trailer online. To me, it looks like it could be a good ol’ fashion 80’s style action movie, or it could be really bad. I’m also not quite sure if the additional mutants, including Gambit, are a sizable part of the story, or just thrown into the mix to get comic book fanboys excited.

Watch the trailer in High Definition on MySpace. X-Men Origins: Wolverine hits theaters on May 1st 2009.

Looks good judging by the trailer.
  • Trailer looks kick ass. As long as it's better than X-Men 3, I think we'll be cool!

wow, first time I actually find myself being curious about how this is going to turn out. The flying towards the helicopter at the end was kinda lame though. overall: looks awesome.
  • I just recently re-read Origins, and it looks like they're using that as a base. That's good. Lots of good nods to other old Wolverine stories as well. If only this were being done by Marvel, I guarantee that Steve Rogers would have showed up in the WW2 stuff. :P
  • It would be nice to have a cameo by Captain America but i doubt it would happen because the rights to this movie are owned by Fox.
  • Oh yah i didnt even think about that. Hopefully he's in it as a cameo.

How is everyone giving such an easy pass to this "Wolverine" trailer. They quality is on par with the "Dragonball" trailer honestly.

  • Its a bird, its a plane, wait no its... Wolverine?!? That helicopter scene was pretty ridiculous looking to me and I thought the trailer started out so corny. I don't think it looks to good. Its got Van Wilder as Deadpool and its got Will I.AM from the Black Eye Peas! I know I will be there opening day but I just am not that excited, it is FOX, the director does not know how to shoot action (Rendition was really mediocre), plus all the talks of the director fighting with FOX doesn't sound to good, anyone else remember the last FOX movie where the director fought the studio... Babylon A.D.

i feel like nobody actually respected these characters like bryan singer...this trailer is on par with the ratner world of x-men... aka horrible.
  • I think ill save my judgment for this film when i see it. It looks 10 times better than Ratner's movie. Hugh Jackman said it himself that the viewer will feel that after this movie you could see Wolverine walk into the bar at the beginning of the first X-men film.
  • and yeah.. I remember Hugh Jackman was really supportive of Brett Ratner's "vision"(!!!)
  • Probably because Ratner's "vision" revolved around the character he was playing while Singer tried to make it a "team effort".
  • i predict 51 on rotten tomatoes. also, this looks really dumb and will probably flop hard.
  • Looks good. For the first time I'm excited about an X-Men related movie in a long time. Ryan Reynolds is a perfect cast IMO. Wolverine was always a perfect cast. I wish Sabertooth could have been a couple feet bigger though.

I'm a HUGE X-Men fan and have been since I was 6 years old. After that weak ass trilogy I'm ready for something a little more faithful and 100 times more bad ass.
  • Thank you
Liev Shriber just looks so damn puny as Sabertooth
  • sean coates
dead pool is gonna be sick !!!
  • the dragonball trailer was horrible, and i'm not just saying that because i hate dragonball
  • Brad
This looks terrible. Man, I never thought it would be difficult to create a Wolverine movie... he's a beast with metal claws, he writes the movie just by being Wolverine!
  • Ok you make one.
  • As a huge X-men fanboy some of the differences in continuity bugged me, but it looks pleasantly over the top and fairly badass. and as long as Jackman is as badass as he was in X2 im sure ill love this.
  • Matt
    Sunshine soundtrack?
  • Yes, that's John Murphy's score at the beginning of this trailer.
  • I noticed that too.
  • Niiiice, i had to watch it again but i caught it. Sunshine is such a great underrated movie.
  • I would like to be excited, but I feel skeptical. I really hope it turns out well. A good amount of the trailer feels good though I'm not super keen the big ass explosions or the jumping on the helicopter, but the rest I like.
  • So wolverine is a Highlander?
  • No, there can only be One Highlander!
  • Sabertooth is the Kurgen.
  • it looks alot better than that flickery thing i had to watch over the weekend. i cant wait for this movie.
  • Looks awesome.

    All hail Danny Huston.
  • All hail!
  • HAil
  • Hail
  • Pure comic book ignorance. I'm sure it'll be ok as long as it isn't taken seriously
  • DecimatorDan
It looks alright. Hopefully it makes everyone forget about the mess that was X3. This movie doesn't have the Hack-ner directing it though, so that's one thing in its favor. I'm still puzzled as to how Gambit is going to play a role in this movie, but hopefully they make it work. At least we finally get to see him on the big screen!
  • looks really good; i feel like everyone is over judgmental since The Dark Knight redefined what a good comic book movie could be.

this looks like an interesting story, it has great actors, great characters, and it looks like theres some good action. whats not to enjoy?
  • alan wise
theres a story on MSN right now about "the end of comic book movies" because of how high dark knight set the bar.
  • Looks good despite its canonical incongruities. I'm kinda looking forward to this.
  • Why isn't Deadpool wearing his mask?!

And while Wolverines story itself seems cool, I worry that they cram so many superhero cameos in there (Did anyone else catch young Storm?)
  • Deadpool doesn't get his mask until his Cancer sets in. Weapon X gives him fast healing to deal with the cancer (his fast heeling beats Logan's). Though it keeps his face scared up like a permanent burn victim.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't storm there are other black women in the marvel universe. Hell they could even change races around to help the story out, since the movies are an alternate dimension there not bound to stay correct to 616 story lines.
  • That was Storm.
  • I know, I know, but it still worries me. What if they're focusing on the star power of Renolds over Deadpools character?

As for the kid, well... She had long, white hair.
  • anonymous
that is storm in the trailor..if you look at gambit's background..he meets up with storm at a young age
  • Wow, a lot of negativity going around, but I thought the trailer itself looked great. The story looks interesting and the prospect of seeing Gambit and Sabertooth is exciting. The "flying" looks like Logan propelled himself up from an exploding vehicle. I'm assuming there's a little more to it than him just jumping up like he's Superman. Personally, I liked it.
  • johnnie
    YES!
  • At first I was worried about the recasting. I thought Brian Cox was perfect in X2. But I think Danny Huston will do a terrific job. This is going to be miles ahead of The Last Stand.
  • Chris
Fuckin sweet looking. I wonder if they'll show Deadpool after the experiments?
  • The first half of this trailer is much better than its cheesy conclusion. I saw it in theaters Friday and the last shot of Wolverine flying through the air was ridiculous. That being said Gavin Hood is a huge step up from Ratner. It could go either way.
  • MonkeyMafia
Seriously, the trailer looked like a giant easter egg hunt in the worst way, yes, I did see young Storm. It's always fun to see our favorite characters on screen in a live-action film but if they're not fully-realized moments, it just becomes trailer bait.
