Wolverine Trailer Bootlegged

This weekend, 20th Century Fox released the trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine on prints of The Day The Earth Stood Still. As expected, the decision not to launch the trailer online has resulted in bootleg copies showing up on your favorite video sharing websites. So if you haven’t yet seen it, you have the ability to watch it in flickery youtube handicam vision. Discuss the Wolverine trailer after the jump!

  • It looks OK. It is tough to really say as that is one dark choppy vid.
  • looks pretty mediocre and not worth going to see.
  • Chad
I saw it Thursday, before a screening of TDTESS, and it seemed as if only a very few people in the audience actually enjoyed it. The cheese-detector was high with the crowd.
  • it seems like this is just a shorter version of the comic con footage. its still nice to see it but i figured we might get a little more deadpool if anything.
  • Ryan
    I thought it looked great.
  • why do they have to add X-Men Origins to the title?
  • Because that's the actual title of the movie... it's not "Wolverine", it's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"
  • I ment why not just leave it wolverine. it would have been better. Its like tacking on Evolution to a movies title. It cheapens it.
  • they probably want people to know that it is in fact part of the x-men universe. im sure we all know it is but there are some people out in the world that cant put 2 and 2 together.
  • MattyMo
Wolverine Origins is the title of a (still?) running comic book series about Wolverine trying to uncover his past. They probably wanted to placate to hardened fanboys, and make the title "edgy." But I agree, I think it's a little much, but I think it looks really, pretty good.
  • [A]
it's also the first of many origin movies to come (if this one does alright, that is)
  • Like the Dragonball movie (although that was pretty cheap to begin with)
  • X-Men1980
Because its an Origin of chosen X-men, there was originally ment to be a X-men Origins of Magneto but they swapped that one the release of wolverine
  • Anrkist
That's like asking what the difference between X-Men & The Uncanny X-Men are... comic geeks know better.
  • blimey
They want to start doing a series of X-Men Origins movies, first Wolverine then Magneto, should Wolvie pan out...
  • I think it looks like a good movie if rampant facial hair is your thing.
  • Wolverine DOES have rampant facial hair, it's part of his image...
  • FreedomisPopular
I'll go see it, but after X3 I'm not hopeful.
  • Was the music in this trailer from Blood Diamond???
  • The first piece of music used was from SUNSHINE.

And I suppose this looks okay, I guess. In terms of Marvel stuff it looks better than most of their output. Then again I've never understood what is so enthralling about Wolverine... sure he's cool because he can't die. But how interesting can that be?
  • the Danny Boyle film?
  • David Simmons
I like the expanded story & character suggestions, but I like the "punch" of the Comic Con trailer much more. Here's hoping, like many others have said, that the many characters fans have been waiting to see are there for a reason.
  • jason B
man...i'm really worried about this one. i'm not convinced they had THE BEST script to work with. wolverine deserves as good of a film as batman & spider-man - some of this trailer makes me yearn for my own set of claws, and some of it makes me cringe.
  • Looks better then that Effing Terminator reboot/sequel/prequel( Make up your minds).... even with the grain and pixelation, and those two people who walk through half way in. Common !let the guy with his five dollar camera record a decent bootleg for those of us who don't want to give FOX any money for that piece o poop they call "the day the earth stood still".

    Too Harsh?
  • I CANNOT WAIT!!!! When should an official trailer hit the internet?
  • marz
i saw the actual trailer while watching tdtess and i enjoyed what i saw so far, however,i got there a little late and missed the knowing trailer that was supposed to be attached.i was hoping to see new footage of that.
  • Deity
Hold on to your horses 20th Century Fox! First you give us the masterpiece to be "Dragonball :Evolution" (Which I'm sure will be critically acclaimed and nominated for an Oscar for the 09' run). Now you give us the trailer for X-Men Origins:Wolverine! I don't think I can handle this amount of quality film making all in one week. Glad to see that studio's aren't milking colossal franchises and putting little effort to adapt into film to make a quick buck. *phew*
  • Brian
Haha couldn't have said it better myself...that's Hollywood big wig garbage for you though...yay for indie.
  • filmkid

Supposedly The HD Trailer Is Gonna Be On Myspace's Trailer Park Monday

  • Looks good enough to banish the memories of X3. And I see what Adam meant about the Die Hard 4 thing :)
  • See I think its the exact opposite. They are shoehorning quite a bit of side characters into this just like in X3. If they serve the purpose of the plot, fine. But if they're just greenery to make amends for not having them in the original trilogy, that would be lame. Either way, I'll be there just like the previous movies.

    Damn you TOM ROTHMAN.
  • MattyMo
Most of the side characters that I'm aware of (Sabertooth, Deadpool, Silver Fox) are important facets of the Weapon X story. The only two that aren't traditional elements of Wolverine's past are Blob and Gambit. I'm not too worried. I think the trailer looks pretty cool.
  • yeah that movie was terrible
  • mcgruff
XMEN in the title = $10 million more opening weekend from the common folk who think that wolverines are furry little animals who live in alaska.
  • Like Steelo, I was never a fan of the 'X-Men' comics, nor do I know much in-depth knowledge about how every character developed and grew over-time, but to me that simply looks like pure merciless, comic-book fun.

Now what really is annoying is in England we didn't (well the cinema I was in didn't show it) get this trailer, yet while our friends across the Atlantic get to enjoy it in decent quality, we have to wait while 20th Century essentially pull their fingers out of their arses and decide to provide with a decent marketing tactic by actually building 'buzz' of the film by releasing it to the public via the internet.

I hate it when this, nor can never really understand why a studio wouldn't want to get a film [trailer] like this out to the public as soon as possible (only reason that stands to justice, is possible backlash/criticism?).

    *yawn*
  • Brian
LMAO @ Hugh Jackman in an American WWII uniform.
Looks just as ridiculous as the other X-Men films.
The scene where he takes a bullet and then just turns back trying to look all badass...come on...it's Hugh Jackman.

Grr they really need to make a good comic book movie.
  • I'm confused Brian, is he not man enough or not American enough? And yah, I wish X2, Spiderman 2, and the Dark Knight were as good we all hoped. Such disappointments! ;)
  • Mota
I'm even more confused. Isn't Wolverine Canadian?
  • That he is, but I don't see how it prevents him from fighting in an American uniform. It may not be canon, but it's hardly a deal breaker for me. I just hope they don't drop his history in Japan.
  • The McD
I think it'll be better than X3 only because it doesn't appear to give as many opportunities for Wolvie to sob like a bitch. And I have to give kudos to the studio for officially doing what they've been trying to subtly do these past three X-Men movies and just make a Wolverine movie to placate the fanboys (the three X-Men movies did no justice to the actual X-Men, in my opinion.)

And I'm actually impressed with Liev Schriber. I had my doubts, as I'm sure everyone else did. But that smirk at the end of the trailer was pure Sabertooth.
  • If you really can't wait to see this trailer, check this link; http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/xmen-origins...

If not, then the trailer should be released sometime tomorrow according to TrailerAddict: "Trailer Addict has confirmed word that the trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine will in fact debut online at MySpace on December 15th."
  • Why they didn't release the HD trailer online and avoid these poor quality rip offs from popping up I'll never understand.
  • John Freeman
To lure everyone into seeing Day the earth stood still. Thats why.
  • They don't honestly think that EVER works, do they? C'mon.
  • Cerebro89
Looks decent. However, I think, in order to do the X-Men and their relation to the rest of the Marvel Universe justice, Marvel needs to buy it back from Fox, reboot the franchise, and start from the beginning. I was horribly disappointed by the first three, and while this looks promising it is simply another addition to Wolverine's story, and while that is the intention of this movie I feel a little Wolverined out from the last three X-Men films. I hope that I am pleasantly surprised by this movie but as of now I have very low expectations and think that Fox will, similar to Fantastic Four and every other comic book film they have touched, screw it up royally.
  • John Freeman
Read up comments on imdb or even here. Ppl ARE going just to see trailers sometimes crazy as it sounds.
  • You are right on both counts. They are going and are crazy.
