  • I'll be really surprised if Ledger doesn't win the Globe. The Oscars are a different story.
  • Agree. He should win the Globe and while he *might* deserve the Oscar, I think Academy voters will shy away.
  • wow - well, thanks for this. ledger's lead over dumbo is not enough. and i don;t think feinnes can be 12-1. this is the foreign press. i hope streep gets shut out again...
  • Captain Molotov
Shitty TV nominations. No Lost? Seriously? It was so good last season. I'd have had it up for best drama. Dexter SHOULD win, but it won't, and Michael C. Hall should win but I'm sure Hugh Fucking Laurie (*rolls eyes, mimes masturbation*) will win.

And of course, Ledger should and probably will win.
  • Totally agree, but at least Mad Men is nominated. I hope that Dexter/Michael C. Hall win as well. Whether you like the show or not, you gotta admit that he's perfect for that role and he's amazing at bringing the character to life. As for Ledger, well, if he doesn't win the internets are gonna go crazy.
  • "I dunno man, they're on the island, they're off the island, who can fucking keep up?"
  • Zayne
ummm okay lost.....but BOSTON LEAGAL COME ON ITS AWESOME!!!
  • zinkywinks
Ledger should win the Globes and Oscars, but won't win the latter. People won't vote for him simply because of the way he died - sad x2.
  • C'mon In Bruges!! As I've said before, if Mammia Mia wins I will go apeshit.
  • jeff
well you better get a head start becuase Mamma Mia! will win. Last year it was Sweeny Todd, the year before that Dreamgirls and the year before that was Walk The Line see the pattern.
  • Muy interesante!

I'm glad Heath has good odds, but I'm not so sure about Benjamin Button. I haven't seen it yet obviously, but it's getting alot of mixed reviews.

I'm also glad Hugh Laurie has good odds, I freaking love House.
  • In Bruges better win comedy. I'm really, really happy with everyone in Best Supporting Actor except Tom Cruise. Most of my favorites are in that category except Daniel Day-Lewis.
  • mitchell
In Bruges better win something, and I hope this reminds the academy that In Bruges exists when voting time comes around pretty good list overall
  • what a lame awards show lol.

only one i bother watching is the oscars, and even that is iffy nowadays.
  • glad to see Heath has a great chance at winning i hope he gets an oscar nomination too.
  • I hope this clears the way for everyone that votes in the Academy to realize it is ok to vote for someone who actually DID have the best performance in that category (Ledger)
  • The sloppy Mamma Mia gets nominated but Repo! The Genetic Opera doesn't?
  • Matt
Never been able to get "odds," but shouldn't they be written as ratios? Like Benjamin Button is 3:2 odds, or 66%, of winning best drama picture?

Does Vegas do it this way? Cause it looks like backwards fractions to me.
    Maybe I'm just an idiot.
  • I don't completely understand how it works either, but I think if you bet $3 on Button Winning, you will win $2, hence how it is numbered
  • Matt
    How does that work!? Because it's too a safe bet? But with a 5/1 odds, i bet $1, wouldn't i get $5?

So confused now. Make it a lesson for Chen to teach on Mondays /filmcast.
  • Best thing about living in Britain? You can pretty much gamble anywhere/any time constantly on any event.

TCCOBB - Odds are 3/2 - If you place £1 on this at 3/2 - You will be returned £2.50 (plus your stake as well).

Now what the odds show is that while there is now 'clear' winner in the eyes of the Bookmakers (no odds are below evens 1/1 or 2.00), they believe it'll be pretty close between Button and Slumdog.

    TCCOBB - Fractional Odds: 3/2 - Decimal Odds: 2.50

Slumdog Millionaire - Fractional Odds: 8/5 - Decimal Odds: 2.60

(Why I have shown both decimal and fractional odds, is because sometimes it is easier to conduct decimal odds over fractional. To find decimal odds from a fractional you divide and add one. E.g. for TCCOBB which is 3/2 fractionally. 3 divided by 2 is 1.5, 1.5 plus 1 = 2.5)

When odds are 1/4 instead of say 4/1 it pretty much establishes a clear favourite (1/4 = 1.25 in decimal odds which is below 'even odds' of 2.00).
And gambling is a mugs game...Unless your winning... :p

@ Matt: The smaller the odds, the less you will win, because what ever you are betting on has been deemed of having a decent chance of winning and thus the bookmaker wants to lose as least as possible incase it/he/she does win.
  • interesting.
