Just got my copy of DVD.. thoug cudnt get the Tshirts.. but i managed to get a couple of posters...n i guess i m on a high already.. Wud have loved to get hold of blue ray ....
I wish i cud get the joker mask !!
  • The Target extra 40 minute featurette is called "Batman Unmasked." I haven't watched the full thing yet, but from what I saw it was basically a bunch of different people talking about Batman as a character. What he's gone through and how he has became such a huge icon.

Also worth mentioning is that the digital copy the Target edition comes with expires at midnight tonight. At least that's what is says on the instructions on how to obtain your digital copy. That's the first thing I did, as I'm not sure if that's really the cutoff-- if it is, that sucks for people getting it later in the week. Maybe not such a big deal, but pretty nice bonus for those with iPods, iPhones, etc. Just thought I'd throw that out there too.

I got the Target Version with the mask I would have liked a JOKER mask cover instead! but this one comes with 3 dvd's yes it brings a third disk!!! i have not seen whats in it yet! but cant wait to get out of work!!!
  • You shouldn't discourage the release of the footage. You are not promoting any cause excpet a slefish cause and ideal that Nolan has. It is up the the ACTORS to decide if it is OK. I agree gag reels suck. We have an opportunity to see more of Ledger, not hide it like captain awesome hides under the covers when Michale Myers comes out for Halloween.
  • Whoa! captain Awesome is quoting Chis Nolan! Watch-out people! We got a gamer here! Check it: Extra footage, meaning deleted scenes, different takes. Nolan shot at least eight takes. So your rant on extra fooage was based on your misunderstanding of the underlying statament. You think Nolan shoots two takes? Kubrick had planned to shoot THE SHINING in 14 weeks, and that is long. IT TOOK 52 WEEKS. NEXT!!!!

    look at the year...it's 2009.

I really want to get the Circuit City edition because of the cover but I went over yesterday to get it but the slip cover is huge and cover both the dvd case and the journal. Would you confirm that the same "why so serious?" cover is on the actual dvd case??? thank you.
  • MadManMatt
So basically the Target 40 minute featurette is just the Batman psychology featurette from the Blu Ray. Thank God. I bought both DVD and Blu Ray editions, worried that I'd have to take out the extra disc and give the set to a friend who wouldn't care,
  • Actually, that's a 2 disc edition, I just said 3 disc to further the point that, even if the next edition is still only 2 discs, it will still contain features not in the initial release, which will leave early adopters who actually care about supplemental material screwed.
  • Tom
The Bat pod edition is the 3 disc blue ray edition.
  • Mario
i know at best buy they're going to have midnight releases and i was told that there is going to be several free giveaways at the midnight releases.. like the DC Comics statues theyre selling, i know theyre going to be giving out a few at the midnight releases
  • Yep. Target has an extra disc. It's a 40 minute featurette. But featurettes almost always suck. Maybe to make up for the fact Target got the weakest special packaging. It's very much like the Ironman mask they had if any of you saw that.

The Walmart coin is awesome. Feels and looks like a real coin. So much so that the undamaged side says "COPY" in small letters.

Also, I got the Joker mask from Best Buy. Definitely not a "bobble head." It's a little mask/statue on a stand.

Best Buy also had DC Direct exclusive Batman and Joker action figures. Only 5 each per store. These are the rarest thing in the whole lot. Also, the supposedly had playing cards and posters, but I stopped by three in Houston and none had playing cards and posters. Not sold out...just never received.

Might have to get the CC version for the cover. Couldn't see the "Bat Journal" inside unfortunately.
  • Slottsherre
I got it from Swedish online store Discshop.se and set me back $49. Add like $3 and get the BluRay version. Sounds expensive, but I think it was worth it, since we don't get those cool Batpob editions etc here.
  • pdaddy
Does the circuit city journal have the batman logo on the cover? or is it just a generic journal? Also, can anyone verify what the Target extra 40 minutes is? thanx in advance.
  • Kylw
Circuit City set recommended, the journal is nice and the joker card was inside the back cover! PLus you can't beat the double Ledger cover (outer & inner)
  • where did u order it from...that shirt rules ¥ thanks
  • Slottsherre
No, you are not! I would probably purchased various editions just to get all the cool stuff if I could. :)
  • Christian
Doesn't the target one have bonus content not available on the regular release? That's the impression I got from the description in their circular.
  • Dr. Doc
am i a complete slut for buying the best buy AND circuit city versions just to get the journal, two different joker cards, the cowl bust and the mini Batman statue?
  • Personally, I'm waiting for the 3 disc Blu-Ray edition coming in like 6 months. You see, it's never wise to buy the DVD of a big film or one with a massive fanboy following (this film falling into both categories) upon initial release, because the eventual double dip will make you regret it. As much as it pains me to miss out on the release of this great film, the studios and distributors have burnt me too many times on double dip in the past (case in point, the recent 300 Ultimate Edition thingy). I'll bide my time.
  • So many freaking options.. which do I buy? Have a feeling I'm going to double dip this eventually, as stupid as that might sound.
  • Where are you guys getting these "extra footage" shit from? Because they're just rumors. Nolan has already said there's no extra footage. He's very conservative with his filming. Always has been. He said what you saw in theatres is all you're getting...

"Nolan says he wasn't keeping deleted scenes from fans. "For my past three films, I really haven't had scenes that didn't make it in the movie," he says. "If it's in the final script, I tend put it on screen."

Any outtakes, however, were intentionally left off the DVD. "I don't like outtakes or gag reels," Nolan says. "I don't think it's respectful to the actors, who signed on to have their performance on screen, not the takes that didn't work out. It discourages actors from going all-out if they think every mistake is going on the disc."
  • Ahhhh...remember the good old days when you had to wait years for a special edition of your favorite film after puttting up with a bare bones oop P.O.S.? Though it's cool to have a choice, I do believe they've gone overboard wth TDK.

overcharge, soak, surcharge, gazump, fleece, plume, pluck, rob, hook
    cheat, rip off, chisel
  • SO MANY CHOICES
  • andy mccrane
those will come when they re-release. remember theyll be milking this
  • Slottsherre
I pre-ordered my copy of the 2 disc special edition on DVD a month ago, I was happy to see I got it in the mail today. Also a cool Joker t-shirt. (check out link) I think the store I ordered from sent all pre orders out by mistake, since we in Sweden will have this one in stores by Wednesday.

  • THIS IS TERRIBLE - ITS ALL TOYS. I AM INTERESTED IN THE DELETED SCENES, THE EXTRA JOKER FOOTAGE, ALL THE TAKES ( THE ONES USED IN THE COMMERICALS WERE BETTER THAN THE ONES USED IN THE FILM). THIS IS THE TYPE OF STUFF THAT IS OF INTEREST. NO THE SAME OLE POSTERS, CARDS AND TOYS !!! CM,ON!!!!!
  • Good grief there are so many versions! Thanks for tracking them all down and listing them for us! I was just going to hit Target on my way home tomorrow, but I really want that Circuit City slip cover. Though the Toys R Us is a tempting...lol.

Rest of the world has cool versions too.

Digipak, Gift versions, and Steelbook with various front cover
  • I just bought on ebay from a guy in Canada.

I can't believe they wouldn't sell that here, it'd sell like hotcakes!
  • NonAnon
I hear that Best Buy is also offering either a Joker or Batman mini-statue to those that buy the Special Edition Blu-Ray. Do any of you have confirmation of this? I saw it [url=http://www.superherohype.com/news/batmannews.php?...on SuperHeroHype, but Best Buy doesn't have the offer listed on their website or in their Sunday Ad.
  • BootlegSoup
As much as I hate Walmart I really want that coin...
  • I'm surprised there are only this many versions. Of course, when we all double dip this in 6 months there will be evn more.
  • ha Toys R Us totally wins.
  • Gordon
Wow, I definitely need the bobbleheads. Oh, and a poster. I will buy another DVD just to get a poster. Oh, and did I mention that I'm retarded?
  • Actually the steelbook is only available for the standard DVD. If you want the Blu-ray steelbook, you're going to have to import it as it's not available in the US.
  • ajt
I'm defiantely going to have to go to Circuit City to get the Joker cover as well. It has to match my poster and t-shirt that I have.
  • That 'Why So Serious' Joker cover!!! 2 Disc Special Edition is stuffing my stocking no question!! Great update, thanks!
  • I want it alllllllll
  • Talk about different versions! That Blockbuster bundle looks really interesting, though...price is tempting. A player, the movie, plus a month rental card for $219.
  • oh man! where is that steelbook blu-ray?! that would be awesome!!! i cannot find it on FYE...
  • Dr. Doc
