Sigourney Weaver Talks Ghostbusters 3; Will Oscar Be a New Ghostbuster?

Sigourney Weaver tells MTV that she is “supposed to get in touch with Bill [Murray] next week” to talk about the new Ghostbusters movie which is being developed. But as of now, she has no idea if her character “Dana Barrett” will return for another, suggesting that her character’s baby Oscar should be one of the Ghostbusters.

Interesting… Out of all the speculation, I don’t think anyone has even brought up the whereabouts of Dana’s offspring (and Peter’s potential step-son?). And it’s been said that the storyline could involve the old team passing the torch to new members.

  • Actually, Michael Cera as Oscar doesn't sound like a terrible idea.

  • When I glanced at the title I thought it said "Sigourney Weaver in Oscar Talks for Ghostbusters 3"
  • Read it again, no one ever said "Dana AND PETER's offspring"... they said "Dana's offspring" and "Peter's POTENTIAL STEP-SON"... implies Peter and Dana are or will get married.

  • Thats true.. but Seth Rogen and his group of friends are the only ones really making funny movies at the moment. I could also see Jay Baruchel in this movie

    Dana and Peter's offspring? Oscar's just Dana's kid, no relation to Dr. Venkman. And talk of a GB3's been going on since bloody 1999. Not holding breath.
  • Solid: good point, Oscar was never mentioned as being fathered by Peter, though I'd love to see Peter as his stepdad. Too good to be true category i reckon. There was an idea of Seth Rogen Playing a grown up Oscar a few months ago, loved that idea. Though, I'd love to see Rogen Jr, AKA Jonah Hill as Oscar.

    Just give Ackroyd free rein on a script, tons of money to Reitman to make it, and watch the money roll in. It's a guaranteed money earner, if not at the moovies then esp. on dvd.

    C'mon Sony, use some of that PS3 moolah and do US a favour for a change
  • If I recall, that PS3 'moolah' is actually PS3 'negative moolah' on account of them losing over a billion dollars by making the PS3.
  • I thought I heard when the ghostbusters video game was announced that the game would actually be the sequel to the movies. I'm not sure if that still stands now as the publisher for the game has changed from Activision to Atari.

    Last I heard the're investing in some movie involving an arachnid superhero and a redhead. May be a lizard in there too.
  • Ghostbusters 2 came out in 1989, and Oscar must have been about a year old. So if this movie finally came to fruition in, let's say, 2011, then we'd need a 23-year-old lookin' Oscar... Probably not Seth Rogen, especially by then... Uh-oh, I sense Disney Channel offspring.

  • The last year they made the Gosth Buster Video Game, all the original cast (but Sigourney) worked on that proyect.. still they didn´t release it yet. So, they going for the movie... great ! Obviusly you need young actors to get new fans, McLovin is cool enough.. I hope they´ll NOT choose Shia LaBeuf for another tank movie.

  • Just hurry and greenlight a new Ghostbusters before someone from the original cast dies and they have to throw Will Farrell or someone in there.... *groan* It will clean up! Do it!
  • Enter text right here!By the way, if you are a big cinema producer in Hollywood or else, I have got a message for you: I am still waiting for the sequal of Ghost Busters (no 3) which could also be called Ghost Busters 20 years later with Bill Murray, Dan Akroid (great canadian who can also speak French since he lived in La belle province a few years), Sigourney Weaver and Rick Morandini. Please, please do that immediately, it will be a big hit so do it and convince those guys that this project should be their main focus.
