Earlier this week, it was reported that Fox has a a scriptment for Speed 3, which involves the return of Officer Jack Traven, the lead character played by Keanu Reeves in the original film. Many people just assumed that Keanu would want to return to the down and out action film franchise. But Reeves didn’t return for Speed 2: Cruise Control, so why would he return for this one? Especially since he’s made enough bank from the Matrix sequels to pick and choose his projects. And it looks like I was right. Reeves told IGN UK:

“I don’t know if they are going to make another one, and if they are it won’t be with me… honestly!”

That said, Reeves seemed to entertain the idea of another Bill and Ted movie:

“Maybe we could do it with them both grown up — they haven’t saved the world and they’re just living their lives as middle-aged men. That sound’s quite funny.”

As much as I love the Bill and Ted movies, I think I’d much prefer to see Speed 3 with Keanu in the lead.

I think they should make SPEED 3 with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, while the villian should be Dennis Hopper but he should play his twin brother Howard Payne II. who wants revenge of Keanu Reeves since he killed his brother. And this time it should be in a Airplane. It would be FUN.

To have a SPEED 3, not letting a vehicle explode and Jack Traven stay on it is a lot like an ongoing "24" plot, with Keanu taking over Kiefer Sutherland's spot. It's a rehash and it will bomb. BILL and TED 3 could be made fresh and succeed as a comedy. Keanu needs a change of pace from action.

Well, it would have to be one hell of a script... possibly. But Dennis Hopper returning? He was decapitated at the end of the first one! Even for movies nowadays that is a little extreme! Come on, even the ultimate baddies do NOT return after having there heads chopped off!

But I love Keanu and Sandra, oh! they should have been married... :(

I don't care what he does, I'll back him - unless it is bad, or illegal.

    so wait....they made a speed 2?
  • Keanu has mentioned it before that he prefers to work on new ideas rather than going back on the same projects. I do appreciate what he says but i believe that sometimes is good to have s second thought. Speed and Matrix are films who made designated Keanu a very good actor. Why he should turn his back to them???
Come on Keanu............ Have a second thought please.

I doubt his "idea" for a new Bill and Ted was exactly a serious proposal...

bill and ted 3 is a dream.
    and hey! no carlin!
    can't wait!
  • Just let both films be. Why do we need another sequel to either Bill + Ted OR Speed. The stories have been told, such pointless cashing in going on. John Lennon was right: Let It Be!
  • Weyland_Yutani
I think Johnny Utah is the only KeanuCharacter I'd like to revisit, but that's about it.

    Dude, Where's My Other Car?
  • Peter Chen thinks Keanu Reeves has never stopped being in Bill and Ted.

    Peter Chen has spoken.
  • No faith in the new remake? I think it looks watchable from the trailers. /shrugs

Matrix 4 Rebooted, The Return of Neo.
    Lol

You know one day that film is gonna poop itself out all over you.
  • I was under the impression that the Matrix trilogy was the continuation of Bill and Ted.

He knows better than to work with FOX at this point in time LMAO
  • Would any of these two movies actually make any money... Cause i agree Let them be... Noone now wants to see either of these..
  • same here

Certainly not a talented actor, but he seems like a really nice guy, and he definitely makes solid choices when it comes to movies.

Except for the replacements, I will never forgive him for that wasted money.
  • Solid
I want to see Bill and Ted years later as uptight middle aged guys who constantly complain about wild undisciplined kids.
  • Yup. Speed 3, yes. Bill & Ted... meh. sooooo 1990.
  • HAHAHA. Burn.
  • Rob
Speed was a one shot movie. Speed 2 proved it. Glad that Keanu agrees. Bill and Ted 3 doesn't excite me either. I loved the first two, but middle aged Bill and Ted might be more sad than endearing. Besides, having no Carlin will be tough to get over even if his appearance in B&T2 wasn't much more than a cameo.

Bill and Ted 3 would only be great. Solomon has been pushing the idea for a while. Though the middle age thing sounds good, the end of Bogus Journey has them already saving the world. The premise is that they already "saved the world" and now they live their lives after it. Society seems to be heading in the opposite direction for some reason, so it really needs to be rectified. Also a major world problem should be the death rate being so low caused by Death's desire to only play bass and not do his job.
No Speed 3, you can't go many places with that.
  • Yes to Bill and Ted...Hell no!!! to another speed movie...
  • Bill and Ted in their 30's sounds like Clerks 2.
  • ugh_doom
Point Break 2. I don't want to hear this man's name otherwise.

Bill & Ted 3 all the way!
  • omg i might see keanu tuesday. I might have gotten 1 ticket to the premiere of Day The Earth Stood Still. O.O so awesome. Glad he's not doing speed 3. That would suck!
  • I second and third the notion of Bill and Ted part trois. I was less than impressed with Speed 2: Cruise Control (or whatever dumbass name it had). Although, I really wish they had thought of this before George Carlin's passing. Middle-aged Bill and Ted with still-kicking Rufus? That would've been most excellent.
  • Hendo
I'd love another Bill and Ted but I don't like his idea... Part of what was great about the films was that the world was going to be saved by the 2 biggest idiots
  • Damn, I would have watched a Keanu Speed 3. B&T 3 however...if they had a cameo by Eddie Van Halen, I'd watch it...on DVD
  • Water
I'd rather see Bill & Ted 3. Although if they went Die Hard 4 with Speed 3, I'd prefer to see Speed 3.
  • Brian
I like the idea of a new Bill and Ted. Speed 3 is a bad idea all around, with or without Keanu.
  • I vote for neither, but Keanu needs to do SOMETHING to get back on track. (And don't get me started on the Day the Earth Stood Still remake.)
  • Ryan
I'd much rather see a new Bill and Ted. I agree with Keanu, the premise sounds funny, and the original was great. Then again, I wouldn't mind seeing him return for Speed 3 either.
