Actually that's not fully true, they have literally attacked religions, the Mormon church has had lots of vandilism done towards it and several of their members have had hate crimes commited against them. The people had thier choice to vote on what they wanted, they made their decision, such a simple fact.
  • Maybe what is needed is a new word for a gay marriage. Surely then the religous right will have no argument against it? If they define marriage as a union between a man and a woman then gay marriage could be called ahurthy or some other made up word. Not civil partnership, that sounds boring.
  • This is not a constructive comment. Sure, there are some really cryptic advantages to marriage (which the video itself had trouble defining), but is it at all as important as voting? Hell no. Is public acceptance and understanding of homosexuality more important than having the right to marry? Hell yeah.
By the way, marriage is a very religious ceremony that got state laws attached to it. Getting a divorce started out as not only breaking a bond with your loved one, but breaking a bond with god. Thats why there are so many more divorces now. Because the nature of humans is to not be with the same person as marriage dictates and people now arent as godfearing. So I think the churches should have the right to choose who gets married if they want, but people should just not care.
  • The SF DA found out that the CLDS contributed millions of dollars to get the bill propped up and passed. Which is illegal in California. It's Illegal for any religious sect or body to influence bills or laws.

So they're now taking up to the Supreme Court. Which I'm sure will overturn it soon.
  • "So the churches ignore nature when it comes to evolution but cite it when it comes to their hatred of homosexuals?"

    Pretty much.
  • RE: The Anti-Milk
So the churches ignore nature when it comes to evolution but cite it when it comes to their hatred of homosexuals? I don't know why that's surprising, considering the history of hypocrisy within organized religion (especially Christianity) but it still leaves me dumbfounded.

Gay couples have never stood in between you and your happiness. What makes you think that you have the right to stand in between them and theirs? That's not a very loving or caring or free of judgment stance to take, but I could have sworn that those were key elements to being Christians.

Equal rights for gay and lesbian couples WILL be eventually be granted, the same way that they were granted to African Americans and women. It's only a matter of time. I can't wait to see the day.
  • But you're missing my point. Its the churches program ultimately and they dont want gays to marry. This has nothing to do with state rights.

And whoever keeps minusing my comments just because I am bringing up another point is missing my point of not just following what's popular. You're not opinionated, you're just a drone so stop proving your ignorance
  • But that's not the issue at hand. The issue is allowing them to have the same principle rights as anyone else. This has to do with letting people marry who they want to marry and not let others say what is the "standard" and who you can marry.

If straight people want to be miserable while married. Let everyone else have a chance at being just as miserable.
  • 'fraid so.

Oh what I meant was that the point of proposing gay marriage didnt have to do with gay rights. It had to do with gay people wanting to see if the general public liked them or not...and they dont. Nothing wrong with that really. Maybe in another ten years things will be different.
  • Gay marriage has nothing to do with rights. It has to do with whether people like gays or not. And a lot of people dont. It's more their right to do so than for gay people to marry. The worst part is that most of these actors dont really care about the issue, they are just doing what is popular. Fuck Jack Black, John C Reilly, and really fuck the retarded Maya Rudolph. The only person who I enjoyed watching was Neil Patrick Harris. Oh, and fuck Collegehumor. Of course I agree with the politics, I mean everyone does but seriously, would we have seen this kind of shitty shit 20 years ago when it wasnt safe?

What are you incoherently rambling about?
  • Bull
That insult was directed towards Anti-milk, obviously. You know, the one with the terrible logic and bad grammar.
  • Bull
    You are poor and uneducated.
  • "take a look at nature people."

It's obvious you didn't study science and biology very well. Why do Christians call things like this an attack on their religion? When did the great and powerful warring Christian nation turn into a bunch of pussies?

Remember when you guys used to kill brown people because they didn't accept your Skywizard over a Corn God?
  • Well thank god the civil rights movement has you there to explain it for everyone. I'll be damned, everything solved in a post at /film.
  • Dude I really don't think gays want to "attack" religions just for the sake of it, not to mention I'm sure many gays are religious themselves.

But i'll steer clear of debating the issure and just say that was awesome. That cast was awesome particularly JB and NPH!
  • addy
many gay people are christians themselves so that statement is largely untrue
  • The Anti-Milk
Sorry but I'm not impressed. I'm glad Prop 8 passed. Marriage is between a man and a woman for a reason...take a look at nature people. Our species would not exist if being gay was natural.

The whole "gay" movement wants the title 'marriage' not for the rights but as a blatant attack on Christianity and all other religions that consider marriage only between a man and a woman.
  • Glad to see some great actors coming out against Prop 8. If only they'd have done this a few months ago, it might have had more effect. It is possible though that Prop 8 and its passing will do more for gay rights than if it had been defeated.. lost the battle but will win the war sort of thing.
  • "Gay marriage has nothing to do with rights."

    lol
  • That was awesome
  • obamanation!

Califorians are trying to get it repealed in 2010. Who knew a blue state turn red for this ballot.

I wonder if this musical was a call out on Scott Eckern, an Artistic Director of California Musical Theatre, who donated $1000 to the "Yes on 8" campaign.

  • That was a cool cast...
  • normal
gay marriage wont save the economy.
gay marriage is a pandora's box.

    do not open it.
  • Jeff
Sarah Chalke is still extremely hot.
  • I have no idea, as a Brit I find your political system a bit confusing.
  • Unless I'm mistaken, can't Prop 8 still be overturned? Didn't the anti-gay adoption proposition in Florida get overturned on the grounds of being a baseless removal of rights?
  • That cast is amazing.
  • It does make some very good points (the founding fathers whilst not outright atheists, were definately not pro-religion and the bible is full of contradicting crap) and it is very entertaining and great to see Neil Patrick Harris singing again! But unfortunately its too little too late, unless they plan on having another vote soon.
