New Friday the 13th Poster and Movie Trailer

New Line Cinema has premiered the new movie trailer and theatrical poster for their re-imagining of Friday the 13th on Yahoo. I love how it starts off with the voice over of Jason’s mother. Director Marcus Nispel was the man who did the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, which I actually enjoyed. If anything, this guy knows how to make a film look good. He especially knows how to play with light and mood, which is evident in this trailer. Also, it helps that the music is just so damn awesome.

I do have a problem with them showing the kill count on screen. Yes, we know that the kids are going to die, but isn’t the point of a slasher movie to enjoy the insane deaths? Why give most, if not all, of them away for free in the trailer? A commenter points out that this idea was used in the trailer for Friday the 13th Part II.

Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Check out the trailer in High Definition on Yahoo. The movie hits theaters on Friday, February 13th 2009.

The trailer almost lost me with "Produced by Michael Bay" but I loved what Nispel did with TCM, so I'm down.
  • Colin
The body count thing is what they did in the original trailer for Friday the 13th 2.
  • Luke
^I was just going to say that. Here's the link:

    It looks like good fun.
  • Looks like a rental for me.

Friday the 13th Part 1 as well. It's a throwback to the old trailers. We all know they're going to die anyway... the point is to see HOW they die.
  • I feel f*cking insulted having sat through that trailer. I lost count of the cliches part way through - you can see how plastic and contrived the whole film is going to be. Rich kids go to a cabin and slowly die off. I'm rolling my eyes just thinking about it.

And the sneaky shits put 'From the producers of Texas Chainsaw Massacre" on the poster... technically correct, but not the real TCM which has gone down as a classic.

There should be a remake clause or symbol or something that should be included with such a statement. Alas, no (and I don't blame them)!

Bottom line? Lame, as expected. Yeah I'm definitely skipping this.

HEY MOTHER FUCKER, THANKS FOR NOT CREDITING ME ON THE TIP.
  • no matter how this movie turns out, there is no denying that axe throw was 100% badass.
  • Dr. Lizardo
Well, now that I've seen the whole movie...
  • E_Espino
This does look like a kick ass movie, but the slasher directors in Hollywood should start concentrating on Freddy vs. Jason 2, instaed of all these killer remakes.
  • hey, last I checked, Jason was in Friday the 13th for a whole 5 seconds. this isn't a Friday the 13th remake. hell, this isnt even a Friday the 13th Part II remake. this is a Friday the 13th Part III remake.
  • Christopher M
I totally agree with you they showed everyone who dies, almost showing us how as well...I thought this was supposed to be a high end remake...they do those type of trailers for direct-to-DVD films
  • That's what pisses me off about the titling of that shitty remake. They make it sound like he directed the "original" TCM film on these Jason trailers.
  • filmkid
this looks actually good i wish for once a black person in a horror movie lives at the end most likely it wont happen in this film lol
  • looks brutal but seems as though there are similar elements to chainsaw massacre.
hopefully it'll be the start of a new generation of good-horror remakes.
  • Conor
It looks interesting. It is interesting that they have shown jason as the obvious killer in this one, where as in the original it was his mother and the hockey mask wasn't adopted until later. I wonder how they will tie jasons mother into this movie if she's not the killer?
  • as if anyone will care about these characters anyways
  • Exactly. There should be a clause of some kind to WARN viewers. *sigh*
  • What had you believing this was a high-end remake??
  • StabmasterArson
Umm, just to clarify things; This is a remake combining the first 4 FTT's. So yeah, we all know Jason wasn't in the original Friday. And we know he wore a sack as opposed to the hockey mask in part 2. But like I said, this is a combo of 1-4, so stop your fucking complaining.
  • "From the Producers of TCM.....no not that one."
  • well, seeing as how I'm not expecting any emmy nominations from this, how I remember the 1-13 count at the drive in when I was 7 and undoubtedly it'll be better than Jason in space...I figure it's worth a shot.
  • Mr. Bo Jangles
A remake of a pretty shitty franchise. You're going to get a slick, pretty flick that has a lot of people being taken out brutally. You wanted it, eat it up.
  • "This place is called 'Camp Crystal Lake'." Boy, that's some riveting trailer editing right there!
  • nelson
fuck freddy vs jason 2 where is my chucky vs leprechaun movie that would be badass LOL this does look cool tho
  • I think the guys behind it have said it's supposed to be a combination of the earlier films
  • Not exciting at all.
  • chucky vs leprechaun....... in medieval times!
  • hat
the only good thing about the texas chainsaw remake was the way that it looked. it was really, really pretty. the movie itself almost made me dedicate the rest of my life to building a time machine that would allow me to go back to the 70's before horror was massacred. (haha, massacred!) if fri the thir isn't at least pleasing to the eye i'm going to start remaking remakes and i'm going to put them on youtube and email the links to marcus nispel every day until he writes me back. then i'm going to respond to his email and i'm going to be rude. my plan ends there.
  • Looks like a good movie to take a girl to....other than that...meh...and why the fuck would they show the kills??? That was just stupid...
  • Same here.. Hope my gf doesn't try to drag me to the theaters for this one..
  • From Producer MICHAEL BAY... Even though I already knew this i still LOLd
  • Techneek
Looks interesting enough. I love how haters love to hate!
  • edward
marcus nispel's a hack. saying he can control mood and lighting is like saying michael bay's a better director than a cinematographer.

maybe these shitty remakes will stop when we stop acknowledging them...?
  • Christopher M
Considering the Texas Chainsaw remake was high-end remake compared to the sequels of the original...This movie still looks better than a majority of the shitty horror films that have flooded theaters and DVD shelves over the last two years...We've had to turn to France and Sweden to get good films...With movies like Prom Night and Twilight dulling down the genre it's no wonder why the American horror film is dead....they have to remake American classics instead of making original well written horror films...like the Exorcist or Psycho
  • ANOTHER INSANELY SHIT REMAKE! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  • Sockin
    BURLAP SACK!
  • im not convince this will be very good. i much rather have a remake true to the first and not of the second
  • that one
the guy that cut this trailer does *amazing* sound design in everything he works on.
  • Max
Oh my God! It really sucks.
No money to put on a ticket, i've just seen the whole movie.
  • greycolumbus
    Mediocre fluff. As expected.
  • Mikey M
Someone thought the first Friday the 13th sucked? Huh?? What??
The best of all of them. Actually scary and good effects too. After #2, most of all of them sucked.
  • djybreel from paris
so hmmm! the movie of the year 2009... perhaps i wait it... marcus nispel rules!!!!!!!
  • Weyland_Yutani
"new generation of good horror remakes"

    wait. .. what??!
  • Weyland_Yutani
How about Chucky vs. the evil little kid from Pet Cemetary?
  • sean coates
    amazing iam stoaked
  • Cool, stylistically it looks like it has more in common with Part 6 (best sequel ever imho), than the other Fridays. I'm gonna be there (starts here on Thursday the 12th!).

Who cares if the film looks cliched, umm have you ever SEEN a Friday the 13th? The first one sucked, but they started to get good with Part 2 and the reason they use cliches? Because they work and Friday the 13th's invented most of them (Mario Bava too)

To all the naysayers out there - YOU go and make a better film if you can.
  • DocHop
I loved the old school horror movies. Why do they have to remake them "Grittier and Darker"?
  • Michael Myers
Lighten up people! This looks AWESOME! Let the bodies hit the flooooor!!!
  • danny bell
i dont care what you nerdy fanboys say
    that looks actually awesome

(finally, a horror movie killer who RUNS after his prey, as opposed to walking rediculously slow....)

    ;-D
