Veronica Mars Movie Stalled

Entertainment Weekly has a bit of bad news on the Veronica Mars movie front. Series creator Rob Thomas tells Michael Ausiello that he “hasn’t gotten far” on the movie outline.

“I thought I had the idea broken, but I’ve hit a wall in the final act that I haven’t quite figured out. And with Cupid and Party Down occupying 80 hours a week, and a new baby boy occupying the remaining hours, I haven’t nailed it down. I’m hopeful that I can find the time to figure it out over the Christmas holidays.”

We hope so too. Wait a second… Cupid and Party Down? Does anyone really care about either of those projects? Rob, get cracking on the final act of the Veronica Mars movie. We need this film to go into production before Kristen Bell is 30-years-old (which, believe it or not, is only two years away).

good! please do not make this movie! NO ONE wants to see it!
  • Cory
    WRONG!
  • Mable Johnson
yes please do not make this movie! no one even watched the TV show. dont waste our time with this crap!
  • I second that comment. I, for one, would love to see a Veronica Mars movie!
  • Brian
How is it wasting your time if you don't see it?
  • I never watched the show but this doesn't seem very interesting at all.
  • i would make sweet sweet love to kristen bell if i had the opportunity. i think this guy is just making up excuses, he probably isnt even working on it at all.
  • I loved the show, but I'm not sure about a movie. I always have apprehensions about bring a TV show to film, most of the time it doesn't work and even if it does, doesn't make a lot of money. For the longest time Rob Thomas was trying to translate Veronica Mars into a comic book and if he couldn't get that off the ground then I don't suspect we'll see a movie anytime soon, if at all.

Cupid is a remake of a TV show from a few years ago. It wasnt good the first time. The other show I have never heard about.
Bring me a VM's movie and soon.
  • Is Kristen really 28? She looks soo young!
  • Dunno if i am so keen to seen a movie!! but i would love this to be back on our tele...
  • Fair enough but I think some Veronica Mars is better than none at all :)
  • Yes, let's hope they get it off the ground before Kristen becomes irrelevant as an actress and has to so her cooter.

28 schmeniate, although I've never watch more than 4 episodes of VM, it does seem to have the fanbase to translate to a success.

Then again, there were apparently a lot of Firefly fans as well...look how many of them went to the cinema when Serenity came out.
  • joss
true, but serenity still made money through dvd and merchandise. so it was a success in the end.
  • More Kristen Bell is never a bad thing.
  • I am still celebrating knowing nothing about the show. Its a good day. Bell is nice though.
  • PromisedProgress
How do you know you wont like it? Are you just above stuff like that? Understandable. You seem like a pretty stand-up guy. Oh wait, I know nothing about you. I guess that doesn't make any sense at all. Cheers.
  • I never said I wouldn't like it. I only said I knew nothing about it. I am still celebrating.
  • fully backed.
  • stephen
Please please make a movie :)
  • Baron Von Cheddar
Why a feature film? While a feature will draw many of the TV series' fanbase, it probably won't grab an outside audience. A TV movie or mini-series would be more sensible.

Veronica Mars is my favorite show of all time. If we can resurrect the series, we need a movie. Watch some samples of the show on the WB, and you'll agree!!
  • Jordan
Veronica Mars is the BEST SHOW that no one watched...BUT talk about a comeback, if RT can pull this off, the CW will be crying and we will all be celebrating!!
    MOVIE MOVIE!!!
  • missing neptune
MAKE THIS FREAKING MOVIE!!! Why are people commenting on this who have never watched the show?!?!? It's FANTASTIC and it deserves a proper ending!!!
  • mitsy
Please please make this movie, it needs resolution!
  • Mrs Casablancas
VM is my favorite show of all time as well...I'd love to see it back on TV but since that will never happen, a movie would provide much better closure than the finale did. And hopefully they'll keep the same other characters rather than jumping ahead to V at the FBI.
  • dirk
vm was the best show ever. please make that movie.
  • Jamie
VM is also my favourite show! and I still miss it. If there can't be a Season 4... then atleast a movie would give closure. I'd rather see it stay in the college format than the FBI!!! but either way I'll be watching.... the series didn't deserve the ending it got
