The Ugly Truth Movie Trailer

From Robert Luketic, the director of 21, Monster-in-Law, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! and Legally Blonde, comes a new romantic comedy called The Ugly Truth. Katherine Heigl plays Abby Richter, a romantically challenged morning show producer whose search for Mr. Perfect has left her hopelessly single.  She’s in for a rude awakening when her bosses team her with Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler), a hardcore TV personality who promises to spill the ugly truth on what makes men and women tick.

Basically, we have your paint by numbers romantic comedy, complete with the cute-yet-somewhat-bitchy female lead who is able to change the asshole-yet-”extremely hot” male lead into a somewhat like-able caring guy by the time the credits roll. It’s your basic female wish-fulfillment fantasy.  But who knows, it could be different. The screenwriters involved wrote 10 Things I Hate About You, which was one of my favorite high school romantic comedies of all time.     as long as Butler keeps making movies that aren't the remake of Escape from New York.... I'll keep watching his work

  • i think i have lost respect for gerard butler. i guess its ok, he isnt a bad actor, but i thought we were cool. i thought we had an understanding that bloody battles and sexy ladies were better than the stupud mind games that women portrayed by katherine heigl play. this movie looks pretty much like all of the other ones. obviously the guy she likes turns out to be a major dick like all women expect and in fact demand from their chick flicks. gerards character will realize that she is the woman he loves, and overcomes his negative views of women, while she overcomes her negative views of some men, and has sex with him. if they want to make it good, they will need to end with her become a lesbian, and have an explicit sex scene with her and maybe the red head chick in the trailer and a strap on, while gerard becomes angry and starts murdering people with a sword or shotgun.

    Why can't British (including Scottish) men do American accents. Seriously. If you are going to get paid tons of money why can't they do it. I will certainly rent this movie...or wait for it to come on cable:)
  • This looks like a watchable RomCom, but I'll wait till it's on HBO and have nothing better to watch. I did that with 27 Dresses, which was entertaining, but like most RomComs falls apart at the end because it all comes down to somone gets hurt and the other person works to make amends until the hurt person forgives them and they live happily ever after.

    Gerard is always an all around actor, comedy, action, romance. He nails it best in comedy and music. He has a charisma like no other. Very relevant story in today's gen where more and more singles are looking for their soul mate and making mistakes and men need lots of advice from this movie..

    This trailer actually made me chuckle. Gerard Butler has great comedic timing, I think this could turn out pretty well.

    Looks promising, and Gerard Butler is so cool. I think that's his real character: cool, care-free, generous, witty and humorous that makes him an all around actor. Simply adores him! Can't wait to see this film.
