David Fincher Attached to Keanu Reeves’ Chef Project

Production Weekly is reporting that David Fincher is now attached to direct Keanu Reeves in a film about a Chef. I would love to tell you more, but unfortunately no other information is available at this time. One would assume that the chef might be a serial killer or be involved in some scheme which is extremely dark yet still slightly comical. The project is set-up at Sony.

/Film reader Eli G points out that in 2001 he was supposed to be working with Brad Pitt on SEARED. The movie was going to be based on Anthony Bourdains book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, which was later turned into an unsuccessful television series.

Well, considering Keanu has a total of 2 facial expressions (awake and asleep) I'm going to go with a slow paced and detached narrative that spans decades where we meet this aloof chef as he tries to cook up an entirely new recipe which never gets resolved (unless at the end we learn he's had an alter-ego that was always himself, he gets locked in his own panic-kitchen or he's been a serial killer all along).

This movie is about a young chef's struggle to rise in this ruthless business. On his way to fine dining stardom, he must resolve a crime mystery that entagles the environment i which he, at times, inconveniently finds himself. He is also on coke and has some very unresolved relations to his father.

i have a spy in on this, and i have a rough idea of the plot of this movie. **SPOILERS**
the chef is working on getting his restaurant back on the map, as it has lost popularity due to rat infestations. it turns out the rats are actually a program in a simulation used to train super chefs to fight in a war against mutant vegetables that are planning on attacking the last human bastion in a war torn post apocolpytic future where genetic engineering creates a super-race of evil food items bent on revenge for millions of years of suffering at human hands. in the end, this is all a simulation that is training chefs for 5 star restaurants.
