I just got home from seeing Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire (yes again… what a wonderful film) and noticed the new posters for David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button hanging in the lobby of the Sundance Kabuki theater in San Francisco. I snapped some photos with my iPhone (hence the low light artifacting). Click on the images to enlarge.

Also, /Film reader Christopher M found a digital copy of the poster for Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. The design is a little different than the one that was on display at the red carpet during the AFI Fest.

And below that we have an extremely cool poster for The Day The Earth Stood Still, found on IMPA.

And RopesofSilicon found this explosive poster for Quantum of Solace (how did we miss this? And is it even real?).

  • Quan
Really Peter you have an iPone? Sounds good. And I really feel bad for the DBS in that Quantum of Solace Poster. The Button ones seem pretty lame though...
  • Jbiza
The Bond poster isn't real, check the nov007 at the bottom...
  • Steve
the button posters are totally gorgeous.
  • Christopher Marc
    @Jbiza

it most likely is real...and was never put out in promotion...the first trailer used the NOV007 tagline
  • jbiza: Not sure about the legitimacy of the poster but the film comes out on November 7th 2008 in a bunch of countries:

  • I can confirm that the Ben Button posters are also at the Arclight, if anyone in the LA area wants to see them up close.
  • Dunbar
Button poster looks nice. Wrestler poster looks awesome! Earth stood still poster looks ok. Bond poster looks fake o_o
  • Mr. 62
The Bond poster sucks. The Wrestler is amazing
  • Tucker
Bond poster is the worst Quantum poster I have seen. The Button posters and the Wrestler look great. Nothing needs be said about the Day. That movie can go die somewhere quietly.
  • Confirmed, The poster of QOS is just a Fan art. Just check the hand with the machine gun, he used one the promotional pictures. I know this poster since 3 o 4 months ago. Check MI6.CO.UK forum for confirmation.

    Regards
    JORGE
  • The QoS poster is a manip from the superherohype forum. Other than that thanks for the Button posters :)
  • Delta Assault
I can't believe anyone believed that was a real poster. It's the worst Photoshop ever.
  • theuglyspirit
Yeah, it even say "DIRECTED BY MARTIN CAMPBELL."

    Come on.
  • Actually I think the manip is good thanks.
  • tazmania
Bond poster is fan made, its ok.
Check out the wrong director credits on the base :(
  • Benjamin Button looks ace.
  • The Wrestler Poster sucks. I hate all the self praise and resurrecting Mickey Rourke crap on it. The Day the Earth Stood Still Poster makes the movie look like a cartoon remake. And good thing The QOS poster was fake because it looks terrible too. The only poster worth having is the backwards CCOBB poster, and that's nothing more than a clever gimmick anyway.
  • Bigby Wolf
That Independance Day poster is lame. In the event that we are invaded by hostile alien forces, at least we have...fighter jets.
  • Aaron
    @Bigby Wolf

lol I completely agree. I was about to put up the same thing lol
  • The Quantum of Solace poster isn't real. I do have the original Aston Martin picture that they used for that one. Besides the effects on the title are exagerated.

I live in Chile and I saw Quantum on Nov. 6th. There isn't a British village scene like the one we can see in that poster.

  • The only one remotely interesting is The Wrestler and there's nothing special about it.

The Button posters are flawed, as the two must be forever placed together, and even then it doesn't explain why the text on the Pitt version is backwards.

As someone already said, Day the Earth Stood Still looks like Independence Day (they may in fact be banking on that).

And the first thing I thought of when I saw the (fake) Quantum poster was the SAME SHOT of George Clooney in Syriana. Anyone notice the credit line above "Quantum of Solace" is cut/paste from the first line of billing block below it. Pointless. Fake.
  • Suess
I think the Benjamin Button posters are shit. They're just awkwardly close-up portraits that say absolutely nothing about the story or tone of the movie. Yes the backwards text is very clever, but no one's going to notice it, especially in a font like that, if they have Brad Pitt's giant face staring at them. If David Fincher exercises as much control over his marketing as I've heard, then it comes as a shock to me that he would either come up with something so bland and uninspired or allow someone else to put it out.
  • Graham
I always thought mikey roark was back when he played marv in sin city
  • Forgot to mention, the billing block in the Quantum poster lists Martin Campbell as the director (should be Marc Forster... Campbell did Casino Royale).
  • Wall•E Plays Pong
That Ben Button poster makes a lot more sense when it's placed next to Cate Blanchett with the regular, forward directed type. Now it seems much more clever.
  • Jesse
And did anybody notice the director for the Bond poster... This is certainly fan-made.
  • MY GUESS ON THE BUTTON POSTERS IS THERE IS MORE TO THEM.

I'M THINKING THEY ARE ON SOME TYPE OF HEAT/LIGHT SENSITIVE PAPER AND THEY WILL CHANGE OVER TIME. PITT WILL GET OLDER AND BLANCHETT WILL GET YOUNGER. JUST A GUESS.

I SAW THIS DONE ON AN ALZHEIMER'S POSTER WHERE OVER TIME THE TYPE DISAPPEARED.
