The Art of WALL-E - 20 Photos

To help promote the release of Pixar’s WALL-E next week on DVD/Blue-Ray, Disney has sent us a batch of concept art and production photos. As always, click to enlarge. I’d especially recommend that you check out the two small strips below.

15 more photos after the jump.

The art is great--and I haven't seen this movie yet!

Cool. I can't wait to watch Wall-e again. I want to see the Pizza Planet truck this time!

Woah man, awesome pics! I wasn't expecting the live action shots. This also reminds me how long overdue I am in buying some Pixar and Miyazaki artbooks. I keep on saying that but I never get around to buying them. I did check out the Art of the Incredibles from the library a few times, and there is some pretty funky worthwhile stuff in there. I heard the humans in Wall-e once were conceptualized to have evolved with flippers, so I wonder if weird initial ideas like that crop up in the Wall-E artbook. I'm glad pics and art like these get circulated to fans; good fun stuff to look through.

This is some wild shit. I never fully appreciate how much time Pixar pours into their movies until I see the background stuff. Fantastic movie.

I wonder who pixar ripped off with these designs?
  • A nice collection of images from a great film! It's neat to get this glimpse into the creative process.
  • I still haven't gotten to see this movie yet. I fell in love with the artwork and look of the general movie over a year ago. I cannot wait for this dvd to come out so I can finally see this brilliant looking movie.
  • @edc:

Are you out of your mind, or just completely ignorant? Pixar isn't the rip off company, DreamWorks is. In fact DreamWorks rips off Pixar's original work all the time. Pixar is always wholely original and refreshing. They are the Studio Ghibli of the United States, and for good reason.

Hopefully, the Art Direction branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will nominate "Wall-e" for Best Art Direction this year. It certainly deserves it--and could win!

What a ripoff of Johnny 5.
  • I love looking at all of Pixar's concept art. It really shows how much time SHOULD be put into a quality family film.

I must say, Andrew with the WALL-E wheels made my day. Thanks for this. ^^
