X-Men Origins: Magneto Plot Synopsis

The latest issue of Production Weekly features a new plot synopsis for David Goyer’s X-Men Origins: Magneto:

“The original X-Men film began with a prologue that showed the character as a child being led to a concentration camp by Nazis and that is the period in which the Magneto film will take place. This setup will allow a future villain to at least flirt with the designation of protagonist since the character will be seen almost exclusively in his formative years. The storyline will heavily involve Professor X, the wheelchair-using X-Men leader. That character was a soldier in the allied force that liberated the concentration camps. The professor meets Magneto after the war and while they bond over the realization that they are alike in their special powers, their differences soon turn them into enemies.”

Goyer’s early screenplay didn’t include Xavier aka Professor X, so it seems like they’ve been tinkering with the story a bit.

  • this movie needs to hurry up and get started.

Am I the only one that would like to Storm orgin story, I think they could do a lot with her and her backstory.

FOX will ruin this!!! also whats up with Wolverine?
  • Warren
I dont think so. They did great with the beginning scene in X-men. I am sure stan lee will help out like he did X-men 3 which turned out descent. (Aside from some comic to screen errors.)
Overall, I do hope that they do a good job and stay true to Stan's story.

Rosario, are you really Brett Ratner? Just kidding, but he's obsessed with a storm origin story, which i don;t understand as there was nothing about the character (at least in the films) that seemed very interesting.

Why don't they have Wolverine rescue Magneto from the concentration camp? We've already seen shots of Logan in Normandy (didn't we? it's been that long getting both these done I can't rememeber), with the brief glimpse from 'Wolverine' of Logan in WWII surely it would make more sense to have him do the job - and it'd also just be sweet to see Logan free the boy that would eventually have the power to kill him.

Oh what a fateful lark this mutant game is...

  • x-men fan

  • yes, i do
  • Dr.Doc
do we really need to see a Magnero movie?

Goyer just needs to focus on Super Max
  • Joe Newman
so when are they gonna make X-men Begins?

"their differences soon turn them into enemies.”" Didn't we see them as friends at the beginning of X3 when they went to visit young Jean Grey?
  • Great...glad to hear they are coming out with another Xmen prequel. You can see more trailers, music videos and news on my site...check it out :o)

Don't rush the film production or process guys. Make a great film. Powerful, riveting, gripping, dark/light. Wonderfully scored with some creative, beefy and amazing action/thriller scenes.

This will be as great as they choose to make it.

X-Men: The Last Stand was disappointing. I'll agree to that. It was a very disappointing film with some great visual moments. Many people are still looking forward to seeing the live action story with these actors involving the huge fight with Wolverine and Magaeto, where Magneto rips the adamantium (however you spell it) in and/or out of WOlverine, almost killing him.

I was very disappointed with the rushed X3 so I really hope they return the series to greatness with these "spin off" films. Hollywood should have waited but they were desperate to RUSH things like usual, thus leaving the great final chapter to this story striped of passion realization to its full potential. The ending fight was more a fist brawl than a really spectacular climax last stand.

And if Magneto is strong enough to move the entire Golden Gate bridge, why only throw one car at a time? I don't want to discuss this here. Hollywood seemed to not care about logic or taking risks in the third part. Plus, Juggernaut, Multiple Man, etc.. everything felt heavily crammed and forced, overdone. The movie was all over the place; it lacked power and congruence. And The Pheonix looked like something out of Silent Hill, a JOKE compared to the REAL PHEONIX ending in the amazing "Dark Phoenix" comics.

So if they're going to make something for the fans, they should stop using that as an excuse to make the film and make a film that will satisfy MOST fans by doing justice and being faithful to the wonderful story and characters that inspired the film to be made.

we see what you getting at here but really on the phoenix side of thing do you think that most people would have bought into the of space stations and all that stuff to do with the Sentinels , i think the way tey brought phoenix into the storyline was quite well done

I think is would be silly to tell a Magneto origin story without Professor X.

    The whole thing sounds boring.

They half-assed ALL of the X-Men flicks and are using Wolverine and Magneto to pull in cash. Single character flicks like these with one or two major acting leads is much cheaper than an ensemble like the X-Men films. It's all about banking on a brand. They could give a flying fornication about 'the fans'.

And why should they? They turn out bad product and we continue to fill seats. X3, Spider-Man 3, The Punisher movies, Daredevil, Electra, Hulk...we all saw 'em. So, if they can hack out crap like those and we pay. Why bother to turn out Dark Knights or Iron Mans on a regular basis?
  • Rosario
Im kinda late replying but anyways. Ben, I agree that Storm in the movies was boring but going off comic/cartoon wise there is a whole lot they can do. Storm was always my favorite X-Men and I would love to see a movie where they actually have her doing something important.

I hope its done well cos a lot could be done with the story i.e. crossover appearances ?Maybe captain america and or wolerine seen as they did rescure him anyway , but that would also be a good tie-in to the Captain A film.
