I think it will barely reach the $1 billion mark before it leaves theaters this year. When it is re-released come January, it should add some more to that, but I'm just happy with its success, because it wholeheartedly deserves it.

If you watch this film more than 4 times it begins to get dull and the plot unravels bigtime. I guess hysteria played a big part in this film being a success.

I'll have it on DVD by January so I see no need to watch it again in theaters.

And the more I think about it, the more I agree with what Paul Morley said on Newsnight Review: "Take away Heath Ledger and you're left with a very mediocre film".

If you take away Heath Ledger it wouldn't be The Dark Knight. He IS a part of the movie. Why are people talking about what a movie might (or might not) have been instead of WHAT IT IS.

That would hold true if Marty was talking about the JOKER. He was mentioning HEATH LEDGER, the actor behind the villain.

Wow...why complain when A.) YOu don't have to read this article and B.) The news on Dark Knight has slowed down (obviously).

Take away the mask/knife combo and Scream becomes a really mediocre movie. Just a dude running around screaming "boo" and tilting his head.

TDK is still in theaters near me. I didn't see it on IMAX so I'd definitely see it again in January.

but seriously, you've got to love contrarians: must attempt to appear superior to others at all costs. my favorite was a guy who said anyone who liked TDK must have no imagination. I refrained from telling him all the things I could imagine about his mom.....

I've seen it 6 times in theatres and it never slowed down for me. I ended up always finding something I loved that I missed before.

Huh. I would of thought there was an updated draft specifically tied to the film's theatrical cut, but in this new pdf they left the same stuff that wasn't filmed in the script. I know scripts can change even on set, and I'm glad we still get to see what changed, but whatever.

Actually, box office mojo screwed up- the foreign numbers were 3 million off. (They said 469, but now its around 466) The worldwide total as of 11/25/08 are roughly 995.7 million. Not out of the woods quite yet.................
