Six New Watchmen Character Posters

Warner Bros has released six new character posters for Zack Snyder’s Watchmen. The line-up includes: The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Silk Spectre II (Malin Akerman), Ozymandias (Matthew Goode), Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley), Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup) and Nite Owl II (Patrick Wilson). I have updated the story with super high resolution versions (2326px x 3601px, 2+mb) of the six character banners. Click on the photos below to enlarge.

    the marketing is doing well
  • Christopher Marc
I'm overwhelmed by the quality of the marketing for Watchmen....they've pretty much out done themselves and I thought 300 had one of the best campaigns ever....these posters are just amazing...it's going to be hard for fans of the movie to pick just one...and I think that's what they were counting on.....

theaters are going to have to put up all these posters because they're just so eye popping ...
  • EL Bart-O
DUDE THERE ARE MORE THAT JUST TWO NEW POSTERS! THERE IS ONE FOR EVERY ONE OF THE WATCHMEN! THEY'RE FRIGGIN AWESOME!

  • ramon
the ozymandias one kind of gives a little too much away, though, doesn't it?
  • SOLID
    This looks fucking fantastic.
  • starscream9289
    Ozymandias reminds of Schumacher's Robin.

Rorschach is gonna steal the show!

Mr. Manhattan wearing common peoples' clothes?

Silk Spectre, mhhm mhhm mhhm ;D

Nite Owl looks like Batman, awesome nonetheless.

The Comedian lighting a cigar with a flame-thrower, priceless.

The changed ending has left me skeptical and underwhelmed. A shame since I've been genuinely looking forward to this adaption for quite some time.
  • krackajap
    Starblazer,

Yes Dr. Manhattan occasionally wears clothes.
  • Dvq
Dr. Manhattan looks like Kevin Spacey in that poster.

I wonder if it was a coincidence that the most right wing nutcase character in Watchmen had his poster sent to USA today. :)
  • Captain Awesome
I would drink Silk Spectre's bath water.
  • rachel summers
    wow. i came.
  • Matt
    @ StarBlazer

Manhattan wears a suit to a certain funeral
  • I'm going to agree with Christopher Marc. Besides the fact that Snyder has changed the ending, the marketing on this has been flawless. WB has good people over there. They did great on TDK as well.
I'm so excited to see the new trailer this Friday. New Watchmen trailer, new Star Trek trailer, and QoS to top it off. *ahhh*
  • Dr. Lizardo
Why aren't the Comedian and Dr. Manhattan posters in super hi-res?
  • Lizardo: Fixed :)
  • starscream9289
Oh man, I just found out today what Rorschach actually means in my psychology class. lol

That explains the stains on his mask.
  • Jaybee U Tler
    why's this back on top?
  • jaybee: it was updated with super high resolution versions of the posters
  • Jaybee U Tler
    Ah I see. cool.
  • Pat
    Thanks a ton for hi-res!
  • William J
In the back of the Dr. Manhattan poster you see Rorschach Without his mask.... you can tell because he is holding the comedians smiley face pin....
  • William J
Scratch that lol i just looked at the Novel and it wasnt him.....
  • Perry A
This all looks great, except for ozymandias. I can't get over the fact he looks too young and the costume is just ... stupid. Ah well hopefully the acting will be good.
  • spoilerkid
    GOD DAMN THIS LOOKS KOOL
  • William J, the guy holding the smiley face pin in the Dr. Manhattan poster is Dan Dreiberg (Nite Owl II). This poster is definitely one of favorites because it gives us a look at some of the heroes without their costumes on. They were pretty limited in which scenes they could depict Manhattan in on posters (due to his chronic nudeness) so this was definitely the best choice. In terms of pure badass-ness, the Rorschach poster takes the cake.
  • zaeres
I know this is nit picky, but in the Dr. Manhattan poster the smiley face button that Dreiberg is holding shouldn't have the blood on it anymore. Nevertheless, they're all absolutely amazing.
  • Captain Awesome
    Peter,

    Bless you :)
  • helicopters
nicholas cage is in watchmen?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! no wayyyy
  • gocitizen
I can't figure out why this film is registering zeros on my anticipate-o-meter. I guess I just refuse to buy into the hype.

My concern with Watchmen is that if there is any greatness that comes out of the movie, it would be from the strength of the source material and not from the quality of the filmmaking. Having read and enjoyed Watchmen quite a bit, I find myself more excited with seeing scenes of the book come to life on screen with flesh and blood actors more than the directorial choices Zack Synder is making ( such as slow mo action sequences, desaturated colors instead of the trippy vivid and neon based ones, compositions from the comic that are very close but tweaked needlessly like Dr. Manhattan's formation from the side instead of dead on, thereby losing the formal composition similar to religious iconography int that panel etc.)

Even the multiple posters are cool, (and they get some saturated colors in there which is neat), but I almost feel underwhelmed. I enjoyed the previous posters that realized Gibbon's cover artwork, but I find myself more excited about the reliving the events of Watchmen more than how its being presented. I know this is a wild hypothetical, but think if Stanley Kubrick or P.T. Anderson were familiar with the comic and made a film as faithful as Synder apparently has. I think the film might benefit from more pointed directorial perspective, something that seems less bland than what we're getting. But don't get me wrong, I think having someone who understands the source material and is faithful to it is of utmost important with this book, which is why Synder is likely the best choice out there. But I can't help but feeling that if people really like Watchmen the film, it will be because of the ideas it raises were already inherent in the book and not how those ideas were portrayed.

    @zLong
I admit one of the primary reasons I posted again was to applaud the awesomeness of the phrase "chronic nudeness" to describe Manhattan. lol!
