At Comic Con, McG claimed that James Cameron had officially given him his blessing for Terminator Salvation. Last Month, James Cameron shot back in an interview with E! claiming “there was no blessing involved”, he hadn’t read the script and that the fourth Termiantor film “could be a big steaming pile or it could be brilliant.” Fans mistook these comments as Cameron saying that he thinks the film is going to suck. Not so. Cameron has finally set the record strait, telling AICN: “I think all people heard was the steaming pile part and concluded I was against the film, which I’m not. In fact, it might be very good, an opinion based solely on what [Termiantor Salvation star] Sam Worthington has shared with me.” Cameron calls the “blessing” to be a “perfectly innocent” “misunderstanding”.

“He asked me in a phone call when I was shooting in New Zealand earlier this year if I would be a supporter and creative participant in the new film. I said sure, send me the script and I’ll give you my thoughts. And I warned him that free advice is usually worth what you pay for it. For whatever reason I never got the script and to date I haven’t seen a foot of film other than what everybody’s seen in the trailer, which is not enough to form an opinion. So I have zero basis for supporting or dissing the film.” … “Obviously I can’t give my blessing (whatever that means anyway ) to the film completely blind. But I’m predisposed to be supportive based on Sam’s involvement and his judgment, because I believe in him.”

Unfortunately, we were asked by Warner Bros to remove the featurette that was online last week. I hope everyone had a chance to see it, because I think it really gives you hope for the project. If I were Warner Bros, I would start releasing some of Martin Laing’s concept art.

I wouldn't expect Christian Bale to jump onto a project if it didn't looks promising.
  • DoogleberryWinkler
Of course Mr. Cameron wouldn't have been critical of the film, particularly not in the way the internet buzz/rumor crap infers he was carrying on.

I'd like to think these directors are professional about their crafts, and not whingey, precious little kids that makes stabs at each other through completely unrelated media/press releases or interviews. James Cameron doesn't seem like the guy that would start petty feuds.. sheesh! It's not like he didn't take over the reigns of an already successful film franchise before... *cough cough* Aliens...
  • /m
Cameron's seems friendly and quit open about it, but he never get the script.
hmm.. why is mcG chickening out?

For everyone who missed the featurette, google
"Terminator Salvation Featurette - The Art of Martin Laing"
  • Dr.Doc
    i trust Bale

after watching that featurette that week i got pretty excited

i think this flick looks pretty awesome
  • Eliot
He totally looks like an older Edward Norton in that pic
  • Pill
It sounds like he could honestly care less, the guy has obviously moved on to bigger and better things.

That video that was released last week made T4 look more like TRANSFORMERS 2. I still think the movie will feel unrealistic with PG-13 and I think Ahton Yelchin sucks and is such a miscast of Kyle Reese, he sounded so stupid saying"Come with me if you want to live". I'm definitely looking more forward to AVATAR. I think T4 will just be B movie fun.
  • Pill
Because the other Terminator films weren't B-movie fun?
  • Captain Awesome
Did you guys see the new Terminator Salvation concept art?

I'm having a heart attack laughing at the motorcycle and the Ed-209. This film is gonna suck hardcore!
  • Mag
"I’m having a heart attack laughing at the motorcycle and the Ed-209. This film is gonna suck hardcore!"
    ^^^^^

How else do you expect the terminators to chase them seeing as this is a prequel (T-600). The robots are heavier and cant run as fast as T-800 or T-1000
  • Pill
    @Captain Awesome

Yes, because that motorcycle looks less ridiculous then the retarded thing Batman whizzed around in.

“I’m having a heart attack laughing at the motorcycle and the Ed-209. This film is gonna suck hardcore!”

Yeah, because the motorcycle Batman whizzes around in is any less retarded looking then the one in this movie.
  • Captain Awesome
    Pill,

But the Batpod actually "works". I consider it a tech "smart" design, in that it is feasible. Which it is, like The Tumbler.

It doesn't look like something an angsty 15 year old Metallica fan came up with in Photoshop.
  • Captain Awesome
Also, if you look at the concept work for those Batman vehicles. The exploded views show they actually thought about it and designed it inside and out.

This Terminator stuff is the same noisy crap you've seen since The Matrix and like the stuff you saw in some of the Transformer designs. I put this on people who "can't" do good tech designs. They muddy it up with lots of unreadable crap and photoshop effects.

I will say the Harvester and that giant retarded robot can maybe be passable. But only because they carry some semblance of Cameron's original designs. All the other stuff looks like horrible videogame art.
  • Pill
    @Captain Awesome

I think you are expecting too much from a Terminator film my friend.

Why does everyone think that Christain Bale knows a good script when he signs onto one???
    Christain Bale can blow me!!!!!
    ^
This film looks like an over the top Robotron/Transformers abortion.
    ^
If Skynet had a fleet of massive Cyborgs they wouldn't be using them for rounding up human debris.
They would be using them to take out cities.

This is all too over the top, there dosnt seem to be a focus on taking out the Time Machine, its more on just milking this franchise like a meatwagon for the next 9 years.

    Count me as,,, Fuck you!!!!!
  • Wampa-One
OK They have already contracted Bale to play Conner in (up to) three movies. WTF this is going to be a disaster. The Terminator storyline needed to be closed in a better way than this and Arnold needed to be a LARGE part of it to keep the lore and congruity intact.
  • mike
Terminator officially ended at the end of T2 judgment day,Its over and since T3 things have just gone down hill from there.Transformers was the biggest pile of sh** i have seen in a long while. They are now just milking terminator like they have done with all the other great movies of past.I can't think of anything they haven't trashed yet all for more money. No standards please if anyone is listening leave whatever is left of these great films alone, stop digging them up Desecrate them. you ran in the church yard and just kicked over all the grave stones NO FREAKIN MORE please

These things were art before you trashed them
  • mike
wampa-One they were rapped up at the end of T2,for fck sake how can you even dare do these without cameron, and he wouldn't do it because ITS OVER has been since T2

    Next ghostbusters,
    Blade runner
critters- never great but i'm sure they will make them into some fury pink fluffy CGI shit with lucas at the helm
what else mm nothing they've fcked everything else
  • Kerry
You know why T4 is rubbish, just as T3, just as the TV series. Because NONE of them understand that the T2 story was about humans, not machines.

It was about us as a species. Not just killing and blow up stuff......how sad.
