Yes Man Movie Trailer #2

Warner Bros has released the second full trailer for Jim Carrey’s new comedy Yes Man. This seems like a comedy that would have been made ten years ago, and that’s not a compliment. It’s all high concept and not many laughs. And it doesn’t help that Jim Carrey hasn’t made a truly funny film in the last decade. At this point I’d rather see him make more movies like Eternal Sunshine, The Truman Show, Man on the Moon and even The Majestic. Zooey Deschanel is the main love interest but appears in the trailer for only a few seconds. Watch the trailer after the jump. Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Watch the trailer in High Definition on Yahoo. Yes Man hits theaters on December 19th 2008.

Plot Synopsis:
Directed by Peyton Reed, who was responsible for Bring It On and The Break-up, Jim Carrey stars as Carl Allen, a man who signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say yes to everything and anything. At first, unleashing the power of “yes” transforms Carl’s life in amazing and unexpected ways, but he soon discovers that opening up his life to endless possibilities can have its drawbacks. The movie also stars Zooey Deschanel, Bradley Cooper, Rhys Darby, John Michael Higgins, Danny Masterson, and Terence Stamp.

To be honest, I think this new trailer makes "Yes Man" look pretty good. I've enjoyed past feel-good Carrey comedies such as "Liar Liar" and even "Bruce Almighty." I think I might enjoy this one too.
  • Chris
Haha, Jim Carrey rocks. Sorry Petey ol boy, but I gotta disagree with ya on this one.

    Heh.
  • theuglyspirit
Zooey Deschanel means I'll watch it. Maybe not in theaters, but eventually.

They left out the best part...
HEY! After we jog we should get a Red Bull!
Okay that would be really....RED BULL
    That sounds...RED BULL
    You...RED BULL...think I'd really...
    REDUH BULLAH
    hahaha!

The book it is based on is really funny. I'm hoping the sam for the film.
  • Eric B.
    Weezer FTW!
  • This definitely feels like a movie Carry would have done a decade ago but I have less of a problem with it than you seem too, Peter. I love the more dramatic films that Jim has made but the reason he had a chance to make them at all is because of films like this. In a way it feels like he's rebooting this part of his career, but that's cool. I'll show up for the nostalgia.

Does anyone else realize how emotionless and dull Zooey Deschanel is? I don't comprehend how she keeps getting acting jobs.
  • Kokushi
Zooey Deschanel is hot but she was HORRIBLE in The Happening, in my top 5 worst actress of 2008, like petter said carrey should be making movies like eternal sunshine.
  • Dan Palmer
Give this a chance, Apatow movies have near killed the concept comedy and I think there is room for this kind of thing. Carrey is a unique talent and all comics have their off seasons (see; Mike Myers) - I think this maybe harmless enough to get him back on top and it certainly looks a lot better than Sandler's most recent output,
  • ANGRY BROOMSTICK
It reminds me too much of Liar, Liar.

    EPIC FAIL

I'm actually looking forward to this even more after watching this trailer. I don't think it's a comedy that'll change the world, but I was actually laughing out loud for most of the trailer.
  • Mikey M
I'll wait for DVD if that. Zooey Deschanel is the same in everything she does.

    @ Kokushi

Um, everyone was HORRIBLE in the Happening. That film has no redeeming value whatsoever.
  • Cody
I am excited. Jim Carrey is the man and i will support any movie he is in!
  • Yeah, like others have said, it reminds me a lot of Liar Liar, without the kid angle. Also, kind of similar to Chaos Theory with Ryan Reynolds. All in all doesn't seem like anything special.

    classic jim carrey HESSSSSSSSSSSS SMOKING!!!!!
  • john
    WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!

a remake of Liar Liar using the same star!
    BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!

    Prediciton: it tanks.........
  • gray
Man Peter... is it your time of the month or what. You seem to be crapping on everything lately... You're not really giving anything a chance... cynicism ages one rapidly
  • gary: has nothing to do with cynicism The trailer didn't make me laugh. The film seems like a slight variation on Liar Liar, and I'm not saying that Jim Carrey has lost his funny, maybe it is we who no longer find his antics funny.
  • In today's Hollywood environment I'd rather a 'slight variation' of a comedy classic than another remake/reboot.

This trailer made me laugh, the Red Bull stuff especially (HA the cat!). I laugh, I go see. Jim Carrey has many old school fans who will buy tickets when he nails it.
  • Gray
    Peter:
I suppose you may be right with that point. However, it would seem that its not necessarily the fact that we no longer find the antics of Mr. Carrey funny, but style or types of antics. (i.e., dumb and dumber or ace ventrura vs liar liar or bruce almighty)... I guess we just don't enjoy jim in light hearted humor as much as we do when he is playing idiocy.
By the way, thanks for replying... this is my second time posting anything ever and it was cool to get a response from the author of the article. I was introduced to the site almost a year ago and have used it since. Keep up the good work.
  • Gray: No problem, you should post more, we can always use more intelligent commentors! :)

i agree with the majority, this second trailer def makes the movie look better. makes me want to check it out, made me laugh alot more than the original trailer....looks good.

    cant hate on Carrey

Until they pay Danny Wallace suitable compensation for ripping off his idea, I've no intention of seeing this.
  • Brianne
The book is so great and clever. It seems that the humor in the movie is much more out there than the subtle witticisms of Danny Wallace in the book, but maybe that will work for the film.
