Notorious Movie Trailer

Fox Searchlight has released the first full length trailer for the Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious, which I think you’ll agree - is a lot better than the teaser trailer that was released in September. The trailer does a great job at getting you interested in learning about the man behind the music. And I generally don’t care about music biopics. Tell me what you think in the comments below.

Official Plot Synopsis
: Notorious tells the story of the life of rapper Christopher Wallace a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G. The film stars multiple award winner Angela Bassett as Christopher’s mother Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as Sean Combs, Anthony Mackie as Tupac Shakur and introducing Jamal Woolard as The Notorious B.I.G. After the overwhelming response to a year long aggressive and active worldwide search, Jamal Woolard, a Brooklyn native, was selected to portray the infamous rapper. Notorious is directed by George Tillman Jr.

In just a few short years, The Notorious B.I.G. rose from the streets of Brooklyn to become one of the most influential hip hop artists of all time. B.I.G. was a gifted storyteller; his narratives about violent life on the streets were told with a gritty, objective realism that won him enormous respect and credibility. His stories were universal and gave a voice to his generation.

Watch the trailer in High Definition on Apple.com. Notorious hits theaters on January 16th 2009.

A well cut trailer for a movie which proabably wont be that good. Biggie lead a very interesting life that is worthy of a film but this doesn't look like it's well acted or writen.
  • Biggurl 1965
After seeing this trailer and reading Faith Evans' autobiography, I am EXCITED about "Notorious" and I can't wait to see it! As for the movie not being "well acted", I think Voletta Wallace did an AMAZING job of choosing an actor who would best honor the memory of her son.
  • John R
^^ Agreed. But is it wrong to say that I like Derek Luke as Puffy than Puffy himself?
  • piero
the whole tupac-biggie thing looks very one sided from what ive seen
  • Van One
It is the Biggie movie! Why would they make the "tupac-biggie thing" based on Tupacs interpretation, better yet does anyone in the Biggie camp even know the Tupac side of the story.
  • Test
It about facts stupid you dont think they can do research and get more information about it beside what they all already know. and second the movie made biggie and puffy look like saints and never did anything wrong
  • Van One
Hey no need to offend anyone!!! This is a discussion forum not a kinder garden class!!!
  • Donivan
It will be what it will be , a movie with a great soundtrack about a man who was a a great lyracist. It will not get any award nominations or reveal any untold secrets. The actors are just that ,actors.I'm pretty sure no one is a method actor where the lived the life of a rapper, fraternized with music moguls, read their"diaries".It will be what it will be ,an ear pleasing movie.Enjoy it for that.
  • Donivan
Sorry, in my haste ,I made a error. It is "lyricist", not lyracist.
  • Benjamin Wright
It's going to be a hip hop "Walk The Line". Strong performances, great soundtrack, mediocre film.
  • KRS
the biggie pac thing was one sided....he never retaliated
  • piero
he wrote Who shot ya? after tupac got shot in new york
  • Who Shot Ya was recorded way b4 Pac got shot... it was released after Pac got shot, the media was taking the whole situation out of hand, which caused two of the Best MCs to lose their lives.
  • MonkeyMafia
Looks bland. The best Biggie bio will always be "Ready to Die" and that's all there needs to be. The only bright spot seems to be the actor playing the titular role, I've been hearing about him for a little bit now, how he embodies Biggie to a T.
  • Mr. Comedian
Hahaha: "What kind of a grown man calls himself 'Puffy'?" lol
  • William
t'ain't gonna be no walk the line
  • I'm seeing this movie for sure. I grew up when all this stuff happened. And I wanna see Anthony Mackie as Tupac Shakur.
  • M
Was the the trailer, or the entire movie? I mean... what else are they going to have in the full film? That for two hours wouldn't be bad or anything, but... wow
  • Thankyoufor
    thats looks awsome nuff siad
  • Roberto
Cliche' melodrama. The dude playing puff daddy was good in Friday Night Lights. Still can't give a shit about Tupac or B.I.G. And there is WAY better hip hop out there than what those guys offer. Or at least there used to be...
  • christina
i think your out of your mind. pac and B.I.G. were the ones who paved the way for todays artists and if you ask me obviously everyone including me had love and respect for both of them..thats love
  • south texas terror
The greatest rapper of all time. It doesnt matter that they show the whole movie in the trailer, we all know how it ends. If you a fan of his music then it will be cool to see what inspired all that.
  • Edd
You should listen to the lyrics of Rakim 20 years ago and you might change your thoughts about the greatest rapper of all times.
  • Kid a.
i was very unimpressed by the trailer above...and it gave you a glimpse into what direction this film will go. i.e. this movie will fail.

my biggest concern is the actors and actress. based off of what i've heard and seen they all look miscasted. the guy who plays biggie bears a resemblance but that is it. derek luke as puffy and anthony mackey as tupac? confused...they picked two of the worst actors around. c'mon! just cause anthony mackie was in 8 mile doesn't mean he is the go to guy for a black guy playing a rapper...

this movie will FAIL in the box office and amongst critics and fans...
  • BIGGIE
NIGGA PLEASE DONT HATE CAUSE YO ASS NOT IN THE MOVIE
  • kid a.
yea biggie thats it...i'm hatin' b/c i'm not in it...
  • Han Is Solo
BIG is solid in this film.

    Puffy? Not so much.
  • orange cinema
see, i think the trailer looks cool, but the kid playing biggie looks like a charicature, and i'm not buying his delivery.
  • whatever
    Looks good.
  • The trailer pretty much convinced me that this should have just been shown on VH1. It's pretty much a dramatized Behind the Music. Jamal Woolard looks like he does an ok job as Biggie though.
  • Kyle
I will never forgive this movie for being named "Notorious" and not "Ready to Die" but it still looks great!
  • Captain Awesome
Looks really good so far. Hope the final cut makes it worth it.
  • shazaaam!
was this movie really worthy or the THEATER???
  • Kokushi
It looks good, BHC got a theater release so this movie deserve one.
  • h2opr00f
Is that Boobie Miles as Puffy? That guy was the man in Friday Night lights..
  • prophecy_projectz
Better than the first trailer, but Im still not convinced about Gravy as Biggie. Plus it seems like they gave the whole movie away in that trailer.
  • The only thing that scares me is that it's being released in January. If it's really top-notch (or at least better than average), it would be released in the fall. Still looks terrific though.
  • Ghost of Biggie
Looks good. The tracks alone make it worth it.
  • charles
This is going to destroy his legacy. They should have waited a bit longer to do this.
  • Marko
I tend not to trust a trailer where all the praise from critics shown at the beginning is about the person portrayed in the movie, and not the movie itself.
  • Stupidest thing i ever seen they better not make a movie of tupac ...
  • shut the hell up the movie was good im sooo tired of reading this crap all of the three of you ass buckets are writing...damn the movie is a hit and it always will be obviously you are not a fan of either so why the hell comment!!!!!
  • 790
Destroy his legacy,,, you gotta be kidding me,,, what legacy...
    (Big fat rapper scum)

When is this dvd going on sale at 7-11,,,
  • christina
you must be from the north. i am and i used to think like you till i grew up. you should have the same love and respect they gave to their fans..
  • fayefaye
your a fucking ass whole... if you have nothing descent to say dont say anything at all faggot!!! the movie was a hit and always will be...your just mad because you cant afford to purchace a damn movie ticket bitch!!!
  • Nathan Detroit
This is terrible. 8 Mile and Hustle and Flow were decent attempts at making movies about rappers and there lives... this looks like a bigger budget and a failed attempt. Poor acting, bad casting... it bums me out as a long time hip hop fan... you want to see your favorite musicians lives portrayed in a decent light.... I agree with Zuguide's comments earlier in this thread.. this looks like a made for tv movie.. straight to VH1
  • zemaj
Is this a 'made for BET' movie? Looks like a crappy movie about someone who had nothing of value to offer society.
  • 790
    @ Zemaj. Lol , I totally agree.
  • Bat-fan
So let me get this straight....Biggie got a movie before stevie wonder?? before RUN DMC? before Marvin Gaye?? before the beatles? james brown.... Elvis's movie was on CBS and biggie's is in theaters?????.......what's next a eazy E and Ol' dirty bastard biopic?
  • 2pac 4 eva
