Crispin Glover in Burton’s Alice in Wonderland

If I were to create a list of five people that should be in Tim Burton’s 3D adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Crispin Glover would probably top the list. So it comes as no surprise that Burton has cast Glover to play the Knave of Hearts.

In the original Lewis Carroll book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the Knave of Hearts is put on trial for robbery after he supposedly stole the Queen of Harts’ tarts “and took them quite away”. Alice eventually defends him after the evidence becomes more and more absurd.

This will be the second time that Glover uses Performance-capture technology in a big screen role, as he played Grendel in Robert Zemeckis’ 2007 film Beowulf. Clover joins Mia Wasikowska (Alice), Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter), Matt Lucas (Tweedledee/Tweedledum), Anne Hathaway (The White Queen) and Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen).

I didn't give a shit about this movie before, but now I do. If there's ever a more underrated actor it's Glover. He's just fascinating to watch.

I am sorry but I just have to point this out. I once ran into to Crispin at a flea market and he was asking the casheir how much a certain painting was. When she added that it was a child that had painted it he immediately refused to buy it saying "I do not like childrens art"

i've seen crispin glover on a number of occasions. he is a weird weird guy. i'm actually fairly amazed he made it beyond an extra in Hollywood.

I never met Crispin Glover in person, so I can't remember him as a weird person. But I could have guessed so by watching trailers to the movies he directed (anybody watched them? are they as disturbung as they appear to be?). But I surely saw him acting in films, usually giving a really memorable performance - and judging by that experience, he is definitely making this project more attractive to me.

I absolutely agree with you. I was thinking the same thing. I'm getting a little tired of seeing Johny Depp in every staring role in every Tim Burton film. Plus, Depp looked good in an eye patch playing the "Pirate's of the Carribean. And Crispin looked when he played in the epic movie, as Willy Wonka.

Crispin is one of those people that looks and acts like he could snap at any moment and kill everyone on set. Because of this he is interesting to watch on screen.

Crispin is fucking off and I mean off as in he lives in his own head. The guy did way too much acid and believes every thing that comes out of his mouth. Have any of you seen his horrible set of movies he passes around through towns?

But I also believe his behavior for the most part is an act. And is done for his own benefit to gain money in some form. I admire that people call this guy an "Auteur". About as funny as people who use that word to describe anyone to begin with.
