Seth Rogen tells Collider that despite internet rumors, he has not yet been contacted about being part of Ghostbusters 3. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are currently working on the screenplay. The writing duo last worked on Year One, a film directed by Harold Ramis, an original Ghostbuster who also played Rogen’s father in Knocked Up. See the connection? Anyways, Rogen says he probably wouldn’t be part of a third Ghostbusters film, because, well, it sounds like the worst idea ever.

“It’s hard to imagine that would be good, isn’t it?” asks Rogen. “I mean just as a movie fan I am the first guy to be skeptical of that. It sounds like a terrible idea when you first hear it. At first hearing it sounds like the worst idea ever. I dunno. Maybe. I mean, that would have to be one mutherfucking good script.”

But what are the chances that it will be a good script?

I think it's always sketchy when television writers do movie scripts...the quality has to be put on a higher level, considering you don't have 22 chances to keep people interested....with TV you can have a couple bad episodes

I'm with Rogen it's a very bad idea....there is a slim chance it could be very cool...I'm wondering why Ramis and Aykroyd aren't writing it, if it's such a great idea to have a sequel...
  • Captain Awesome
    I agree. Horrible idea.
  • OAKside
    That's some good Photoshoppin'!
  • whatever
It all comes down to WHY they make it. If it's just for some last hurrahs before entering the retirement stage, then forget about it. It has to be because the story's worth telling. That said, look at how many pieces of shit movies get sequels even though they don't deserve them. It's ridiculous. Look at home alone 3. What the hell? Not even the same kid. That didn't stop them... You get my point.
  • Wild Bill
Funny, if you substitute "Green Hornet" for "Ghostbusters 3," it makes a lot more sense.
  • ANGRY BROOMSTICK
    bad, bad idea.

we're not in the 80s anymore.
  • TedTedPoleyPoley
buying the Green Hornet rights and turning it into a comedy starring your lard-ass self as the main character that looks nothing like you, however is NOT a terrible idea??
  • dlb
Wow Seth Rogen is good in my books again
  • Andy
Yeah, this does say a lot about Seth Rogen's integrity.

Sadly, the whole thing sounds like Dan Akroyd trying to clutch on to the last thing anyone remembers him fondly for. Like he's trying to stay relevant by talking about Ghostbusters constantly, when in the end it's about as real as fan rumors about a Dark Knight sequel. Sorta sad in the end really.
  • Captain Awesome
    TedTedPoleyPoley,

The Green Hornet wasn't a comedy? The last time I saw the original series, I couldn't stop laughing. I guess I must have watched the wrong one?
  • Jaybee U Tler
Rogen clearly doesn't know or truly base his involvement on a project on whether or not it is a good or "bad idea". As many have already pointed out the his upcoming starring role in Green Hornet.

I think this real early damage control on his part, case it flops. He can always cover his ass by going back to this and saying that the script just wasn't transferred to film properly.

That's not a bulging belly under his torn wife beater, it's a cash register. The studio flashes enough bling and Seth'll be the first one lined up to be slimed.
  • Mikey M
Hard to believe Seth, who has been in a project every two to three months, is being choosy.
  • Johnnie
Sounds like he was just talking high.
You guess are reading too much into his quote. It doesn't even sounds articulate... He was high.
  • I have more faith in a GHOSTBUSTERS movie with Rogen than I do GREEN HORNET.
  • Pentarix
This may be the smartest thing that Rogan douche ever said.
  • Luke Lewis
He would be terrible for the role anyway.
anybody from the crew for the job would be terrible...
I don't want to hear F bombs every few seconds in the movie...
They should get Ryan Reynolds, Jack Black, Colin Hanks, Anthony Anderson to be the new Ghostbusters that would be great.
  • Detective Comic
The only way it would be a bad idea is if they don't pass it to a new generation of comedians. I think the premise of ghostbusters just has so much comedy potential. It would be cool to see slimer in CGI.

Comedy/Horror together always makes great great movies when done right. Abott and Costello meet frankenstein,Young frankenstein, Scary movie 1, Ghostbusters 1, Shaun othe Dead. Just come up with a good story and don't make it cheesy that's all....aside fom that it would be good to see what Peter Venkman and the guys are up to these days.
  • da joka'
@Detective Comic I agree it would kinda be funny to see Bill Murray ,Harold Ramis and dan akroyd together again as old men and a new generation of ghostbuster. Like Jack Black, Katt Williams, Dane cook and uhhh....maybe a girl, maybe sarah Silverman would be funny beeing chased by demons I dunno, what do you think?
  • What about a remake?
  • shazaaaaaaaaam!
    @detctive comic and da' joka'.

I know this might seem crazy... that would be kinda funny to see them 4 as ghost busters in the post 9/11 new york city.
  • Trebek
I honestly don't give a crap what Seth Rogen thinks. I think its a poor idea as well though.
  • Brian
Wow there's a first time for everything....I actually agree with what this jackass says for once. Never once laughed at this guy, he's more unfunny than Will Ferrell.
Anyways, judging by what was released as a rough plot line and the fact that the writers are only known for the most non-funny show on television (The Office) the script is going to suck hard. Terrible idea getting such dry unfunny people to write a script for a classic sequel.
  • Harrison and Steve
" A terrible Idea" would be putting Seth Rogen in it.
seriously can someone tell this guy he's not funny or relevant?

Real fans dont want anyone in the roles except the originals.

you dont get it. we want to see these guys older. thats the point.
not this heroes 'passing the torch' shyt.

did you not just see Murray on SNL last week? old is the new funny.

seasoned audiences have had it with studios making sequels for kids who didnt grow up with them. theyre ruining classics.
  • Chris Hardt
I just would like to say one thing reguarding Ghostbusters 3.

i am all for it i love the ghostbusters movies i would love to see a third movie. i love those actors bill murray, dan aykroyd, harold ramis, and ernie hudson. i grew up on ghostbusters it makes me laugh everytime i watch the movie and i never get sick of it. i was born in 1984 and i feel a huge connection with ghostbusters it was one of the best comedies of 1984.
  • HornetSting
Yeah, I wish he would take the same attitude with the Green Hornet. He seems to have no problem screwing up that classic character. Gee Rogen, do you even know you don't know? Hypocrite. We're all right here screaming daily, "please don't destroy the Green Hornet" and yet you refuse to listen to us and call us fanboys and retards. You've been hanging with Kevin Smith, the unofficial "King" of fanboy geek retards, hasn't he tried to talk any sense into you yet? Or has the lure of easy money made you selectively deaf? You suck Rogen, I so can't wait until Hollywood spits you out.
  • Piker
I think seth rogan should just act and not try to give his opinion. Hes not paid for his opinion. However I think it's a great idea... but then again I thought another indy would be good too and I was wrong. HOpefully ramis and akroyd haven';t become complete greedy fucks and we just might get a good movie.
  • ppp
akroyd already ruined blues brothers with that awful "blues brothers 2000". I don't count on him... hope murray will lend himself only if the script is absolutely great...
  • i adore seth rogen! if he was in ghostbusters 3 i would watch it - and i do not see how this could be anything but a brilliant idea - i love it!...but i do appreciate him saying what he thinks even if it could lose him the work. on the other hand, i take everything that absurd irreverent bastard says with a grain of salt thrown over my shoulder. who's to say he still won't do that project? rogen adores apatow as much as i adore him. when will that cutie come see me in jerusalem?
  • anonymously
if seth rogen i couldnt watch it the guy sucks at comedy. and hope they wouldnt ruin a ghostbusters movie by having him in it.
  • eat me
Did any of you even know what the story is? it's the original 3rd GB that was written by the original, DAN AYKROYD and then Harold Ramis got involved. Yet another original. Ghostbusters: Hellbent, was what is was first called. and for better or worse, is supposed to include Ben Stiller. Seth Rogan can suck a donkey dong. Pineapple Express was a horrid idea. The movie fell way short of what the story was projected to be, in my eyes. We've all got our opinions and to hardcore OLDSCHOOL GB fanatics, this will hit RIGHT ON.
