In this episode of the /Filmcast, Dave, Devindra, and Adam are joined by the Onion AV Club’s Amelie Gillette and together they tear apart the notion of a Blade Runner sequel, try to figure out if they trust James Cameron more than McG, and spend some time discussing the finer points of religion while reviewing Bill Maher’s Religulous.

Any woman who loves 'Don't Tell Mom' is brilliant and beautiful in my book.

Great show guys. I heart you Amelie...

I think Amelie has backlash to the backlash to the backlash of Religulous.... People keep complaining about that last portion of Religulous but Bill has a stand-up background and that part's closest to his comedic roots. I think people shouldn't see this movie because they hate religion but because they want to see Bill Maher, biggie-sized ego and all, if you can't dig his talking head, monologue-centric show then ain't now how you'll get into this. My biggest problem with the film was that there was no big "wow" moment that most investigative docs have and this one struggles to find (which may be the reason Billy had to pound it home with his big speech at the end)

I thought it was a great movie and for once the slashfilm guys were wrong on this one.

The Sam Harris quote that Adam was referring to was, "In fact, atheism is a term that should not even exist. No one ever needs to identify himself as a non-astrologer or a non-alchemist."

Amelie Gillette was pretty hilarious. I liked her.

I am non religious. I really liked this movie. I think Bill was really just taking the mocking of something as far as he could. Almost in an artistic way. Maybe what he did wasn't 'nice' but is was still very well done and funny (Borat Style).

Due to the importance of religion in peoples lives, I don't think that anyone that doesn't share his world view would enjoy this movie. I think that his message at the end of the movie was meant to resonate mainly with the people who do share his world view. Like a rallying call for the secular and non religious. If that was his intent, then I think he was dead on.
