Paramount Pictures has signed a deal with Marvel Entertainment to distribute the studio’s next five self-produced film projects:

  • Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010)
  • Thor (July 16, 2010)
  • The First Avenger: Captain America (May 6, 2011)
  • The Avengers (July 15, 2011)
  • Iron Man 3 (Date Not Yet Announced)

The deal is an extension of the original agreement for Iron Man, and includes worldwide distribution.

  • Captain American was already apart of a deal with Par they signed in 2005 (after the split from CBS). I think Nick Fury was included as well (and of course Iron Man).

Is this just them re-doing the original deal due to Iron Man's success or another one they created?

I like what marvel is doing in Straczynski Thor. I hope they add it to the movie.

    @Aeghast

Marvel has announced that they are releasing two movies every year now. Their output will not affect DC's output.

Those of you who read Marvel comics in the early 1990s will remember that they basically flooded the market with new titles, shortly before declaring bankruptcy. For a studio with only one movie under its belt, it looks like they may risk to do it again, but on a much more expensive and public scale.

The Avengers should come out about 2015. That way they worked on all of the Movies so they dont ruin it….
  • gah
Thank god. They did a great job marketing Iron Man. Good thing it's not Universal.
  • Paramount, can you say "Ka-Ching!" $$$
  • Clint Barton
Is it just me, or did MARVEL change the release dates?

As I remember, MARVEL had IRON MAN 2 being released 30April2010...

No wonder they weren't too upset with their semi-breakup with Dreamworks. Their partnership with Marvel could potentially be worth billions and they are still in partnership with Dreamworks animation.

    Way to milk your franchise(s).

I hope they come out with special collector (non plastic) glasses for each movie. I miss McDonands and Burger King doing that.
  • guess who
