Jude Law is Dr. Watson in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes

Jude Law is in negotiations to play Dr. John H Watson in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes. Law seems like an extremely obvious choice. Watson appeared in 52 of the 56 original short stories and all four novels, as a friend, assistant and biographer of the great detective. Robert Downey Jr is already on board to play Sherlock, and Mark Strong is on board to play the villain Blackwood. The film will be based on an upcoming comic book adaptation of the classic tales, and will feature a more active version of the famous detective.

    I don't know exactly what it is about it, but I have no interest in this film at all. Even with the casting stories or with Ritchie directing it.

    Excellent choice in my opinion. Not only was it obvious, but I actually like Jude Law as an actor. (Yes I'm a male) A lot of people don't like his acting because of the roles he plays, but there's no denying that he plays them well. He's a talented lad and if he confirms this part it should be awesome!

    i am happy with it. I am so glad we are getting away from the portly dimwitted Watson. If you have ever read the stories then you know that is not the case.

    he should ONLY do supporting roles...too bad movie execs try pin movies on his shoulders, everytime they do so they fail

    Jude has done a lot of great movies, so I'm looking forward to seeing him and RDJ in this film together. Very interesting. I've read other places that Russell Crowe might do Moriarity, and I hope that's true, too.

    NO!!! I don't like him at all... Damn it!!!

    Hopefully RDJ can carry it. I love him but Jude is an awful choice imo.

    I can't really see Robert Downey as Holmes... he's a great actor but I don't think he is really the right "type."
