Revolutionary Road Trailer Previewed

Entertainment Tonight has a sneak preview of the teaser trailer for Revolutionary Road, Sam Mendes‘ new film which reunites Titanic stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. There is nothing more I hate than Mary Hart talking over the interesting parts of a movie trailer, but alas it is all we have. My first encounter with this footage was in hearing only the audio over the shoulder of a colleague as he watched it. I found the dialogue to be laughably on the nose, Paul Haggis style. But it becomes easy to dismiss when complimented with Roger Deakins’ cinematography. As always, tell me what you think in the comments below.

Based on the novel by Richard Yates, Revolutionary Road tells the story of a young couple trying to find fulfillment in an age of conformity. Trapped in a world of encoded convention, they dream without faith, as lies and self-deceptions build to explosive consequences.

Revolutionary Road hits theaters on December 26th 2008.

Winslet's acting feels out of place for some reason in the trailer...that could be that she was wrongly cast just for the Titanic factor also her husband is directing...I loved her in "Little Children" and "Eternal Sunshine" but it's more overacting soap style delivery....will DiCaprio ever look grown up without facial hair?

it looks like another oscar nomination for Kate and Leo.

The ET elements were just infuriating, but this movie looks promising. Rejecting the "American Dream" is always an interesting concept to me. I'm glad I didn't give into my inclination to skip this trailer.

This type of period costume drama set in a bygone era
always generates oscar buzz come the award season
    .Why ?
It meets all the criteria. On screen chemistry,
    starstudded cast, breathtaking cinematography
sumptious camera and lighting, conflict, drama, love story:
preferably with a happy or tragic ending;triumph over adversity.
    My goodness!

I think I need to see the trailer without the over voice of Mary Hart because it didn't look very interesting to me even though I can relate to the theme. Some of the acting also seemed off, especially Kate and I think she's an amazing actress.

What a strange cover of Wild Is The Wind (playing in the background)...

I thought it looked haunting, emotional, dramatic, fantastic. Exactly the kind of sophisticated, elegant, adult fare I look forward to Fall for. I think Dicaprio should dust off his tux and Kate should start meeting with designers and, if the trailer is any indication, Roger Deakins could get another nomination this year. Wow - really gorgeas... and different (in a good way) trailer. count me first in line!

The novel this movie's based on is one of my favorites,, but this looks like a poor, cliche-ridden adaptation. The dialogue is lousy, Kate doesn't make it as a pale blonde, and Mendes is too heavy-handed a director (as he showed in AMERICAN BEAUTY) to capture the delicate moods of the novel.

I feel that this movie is going to be a for sure Oscar Nomination. I haven't read a book that deeply relates to so many people within the 20th century. Even though this story does take place in the 50's, most people can relate to a life that is hallow and meaningless as story turns out to be for these prominent characters...
