Is Eva Longoria The Newest Member of The Avengers?

FlawedHollywood has a photo of Eva Longoria leaving the offices of Marvel Studios with a business card and a hand full of reading material, an Avengers comic book on the top of the stack. Longoria’s television show Desperate Housewives will be coming to an end right around the time the Marvel comic book team-up is being adapted into a feature film. This has led many to speculate that Longoria might be in the running to play Janet Van Dyne aka Wasp, a founding member of the super team and eventual wife of Ant-Man. But does Longoria have what it takes to be a superhero?

I'm in the belief that Edgar Wright is looking to cast her in in Ant-Man...considering how obscure the superhero is they need a duo, having the wasp (Longoria) would make sense...Wright also has a habit of hiring popular TV stars for his film roles...Longoria hasn't really had a chance to be in other projects, she was sort of good in "Harsh Times"....and if Ant-Man is a comedy she would have experience in the type of dark comedy Wright is known for... plus I'm going out on a limb thinking he's not going to be casting any of his Brit regulars

So if they are already starting to cast for The Avengers film in 2011, then MARVEL must have a good idea of who Captain America and Thor are going to be.

Marvel already said they wouldn't make an Avengers till all the major characters were set.

Does this mean that the Wasp will make an appearance in Iron Man 2?

She's holding a New Avengers comic which obviously has a vastly different lineup than the original team. Wiki's telling me a Native American-Hispanic lady is a member of the current iteration, "Echo/Ronin", a Daredevil contemporary. Of course, half of that team belongs to other movie studios, I'm just saying there's other possibilities for her, (even regardless of her race.) Just not a fan of hers in the least, I don't want her fouling up an eagerly anticipated Edgar Wright Ant-Man movie.

Its weird to finally have a picture to go along with the usual, this person was seen leaving this studio. Nice. I think she would do a good job as Wasp, I'm more concerned about Thor and Captain America though.

Honestly everyone is mentioning Black Widow and I don't see it whatsoever, there's plenty of other actresses that would fit her bill. As for Janet/Wasp I think she'd be a nice catch.

MARVEL needs to bring on a Hawkeye movie, or at least put him in as a supporting role in other films. Like have Hawkeye and Black Widow as Nick Fury's Black ops team; like they started off in the Ultimates run.

She does have a sort of Wasp look but Wasp isn't the only female Avengers member - though I guess she's a bit petite to be Black Widow or Scarlet Witch. Good to see a rumour that's backed up with a photo. She must have been doing something at Marvel.

You're not going to see anything regarding the Black Widow because the character rights are owned by Lionsgate.

I don't see what is so wrong with this. The people who are against this in the topic aren't exactly listing reasons as to why she shouldn't be in the movie, but she shares many character traits with Janet. They're both attractive, fashion forward, and high strung.

Wow that made my interest drop immediately, She's like a slightly more mature Jessica Alba, with even less charisma. I get the need for attractive females in comic movies, but can't see her being compelling in anything other than promo posters.

I think this is all bs.
The picture looks forced, like ether its photoshopped or she's doing this on purpose to get some buzz going.
Nobody would hold up important info like that if they didn't want it to go right online to /Film.

First it was Alba in the FF movies as Sue Storm (with dyed blond hair and blue contacts =P) now Longoria as the (rumored) Wasp? I mean honestly. What's next Eva Mendes as the Scarlet Witch?
