Will Smith is NOT Captain America

Yesterday, Derek Luke was quoted as saying that he heard that Will Smith was offered the role of Captain America by Marvel Entertainment. Thankfully, AICN quickly debunked this report. Marvel claims that they never entertained Smith as a choice, never mind had a conversation or approached Smith for the role. So now that the rumor is officially killed, who do you want Marvel to cast as the Cap?

  • Christopher Marc
I still think Butler or Walhberg would be good choices
  • Mason
    I think Joe Pesci... ha
  • Is Matt Damon off the table? I heard his name mentioned back when this was in development hell (sometime between the first two Bourne pictures).
  • jimbo stewart
    Michael C. Hall
  • Jeff
    Aaron Eckhart
  • Paul Walker or Cam Gigandet!
  • Gilbert Godfreid..'nuff said
  • James P
    THANK GOD
  • Agent J
    Matt motha freakin' Damon
  • Captain Awesome
Are you kidding? The comicbook racists in the community would blow a fuse.

They can't have their Aryan God played by a rapping Prince!
  • dave
Holy shit. Michael C. Hall could be awesome.
  • digitalet
Ive always wanted Bruce Willis as Cap, make him older. Don't know why but he has always come to mind when ever I thought of cap.
  • matthew
i'll probably get flamed for this one but I think someone along the lines of channing tatum or chris evans would be an decent choice. think about it. if this is a world war II film, we need someone who looks like theyd join the army....not someone like brad pitt who is too old and too pretty. he's gotta be young, white, fit, and at least somewhat talented. my only reservation with someone that young though would be the future avengers movies....in which case he should probably as old as the other supes (even though a perpetually young capt. america would make a lot of sense given the serum junx). also, with robert downey jr, ed norton, hugh jackman, etc. all leading the way for marvel its a no-brainer that theyre going to cast someone similar in age, fame, etc. so with that being said, guy pearce could be an interesting choice....
  • Agent J
    Matt mutha freakin' Damon
  • Brian from OR
Josh Brolin would be a good choice.
  • brad pitt obviously, michael c. hall would be good though.
  • Agent J
    Matt the mofo Damon
  • I'd pick Mark Wahlberg.. he has the gritty face of Cap

    LOL how about Paul walker???
  • Denny
Jamie Bamber, or that guy who played Sgt. Colbert in Generation Kill.
  • clark kent from paris...
i want john cena or viggo mortensen...
  • Christopher Marc
what's with people thinking wrestlers can act...the only one that managed a decent Hollywood career was Jessie Ventura...stop suggesting these lame trailer park soap opera stars, if they could act they would be in movies already...the WWE is not a casting pool...If you like looking another dude's body that's your business don't ruin a film because of that...
  • Chris Pine if they want to go young but I do think Michael C. Hall would be a great choice. No wrestlers, the actor will have to hang with the acting chops of Robert Downey JR.
  • Superman
Brad Pitt should be cap. If Downey can be Iron Man, then the age excuses people have no longer hold water. Plus Pitt's in way better shape than Downey. And why do some of you want that kinda dopey looking matt damon guy as cap? He looks nothing like him.
  • Aaron
Brad Pitt or Michael C. Hall
  • I still say the voice of the Aflac duck...Godfreid...
  • Chris
    Pitt.
  • marz
hmmm would i be bashed by saying..vin deisel lol..he's fit enough and it would be easy to get his bald head under that mask.hell maybe even jason stathem...but with jasons heavy british accent..they may say he aint 'american' enuff
  • Schneid Remarks
Brad's good, but I think the best I've hear thus far is the original rumor of Leonardo DiCaprio.

Brad's rumored for Thor, but that should be Daniel Craig.

Craig would be a great Cap as well, except for him being, y'know, British.

Aaron Eckhart totally sold me during Dark Knight as Cap also
  • bilal
    will smith is real hero.

Sent from my mobile using FeedM8
  • J. Luna
As Steve Rogers? I'll have to agree with Agent J.

    Matt the mofo damon.
  • Captain Awesome
  • freemachine
    Martin Lawrence, nuf said.
  • fex
    Ryan Philipe?
  • fraiser
    shia leboeuf:
  • Mr. B
Owen Wilson. (think Behind Enemy Lines)

Although I do like Jamie Bamber. He's just a pretty short guy, and someone with such a strong British accent would be an amusing choice. Even though he holds dual citizenships.

    Scott Speedman in a pinch.
  • Matt Sarah fuckin Damon
  • Travis Mcgee
MARVEL needs to find an unknown actor in his early 20's...
  • J.D.
An UNKNOWN would be a good choice. Someone random who was either a child actor or a current soap actor. No joke.
  • muffin
Nobody, because this is a stupid fucking idea.
  • Just too good at life
    Cedric The Entertainer
  • boisvertfj
    *phew*

I honestly think Brad Pitt would be the best choice here.
  • McGruff
Shia Labeouf! not really. michael c hall would be sick
  • Jon
JD has it; pick an unknown. All of these celebrities bring their own thing to each of these movies not to mention a whopping multi-million dollar contract. Give it someone we haven't seen before.
  • Goonter
Lebouf? lmao! Captain America could start swinging with monkeys! lol Instant Gold!
  • Fab
Since when is it cool to be racist now? Is that the effect Obama's candidacy has on people in the USA? I really bloody wish there were more black super heros portrayed on screen, and yet I'm not black or give much of a crap about such issues. But it's just such a "whites only" world it ends up making me sick. Horrible photoshopping on the Captain America image by the way (clone tool used in the lower left corner by a 2 year old). Jeez, just look at this massive list of comments full of aryan-type actors, dicaprio, brad pitt, owen wilson, damon... I'm out of here... and to answer the question, Mario Van Peebles is one of the best black actors out there, so much better than smith, but if it HAS to be a white guy, I'd say Brolin. Brolin is definitely going to have a part in a super-hero movie someday soon.
  • Albert Brodsky
My buddy's uncle is Sargent Slaughter. I don't think he has anything on his plate right now, but I could look into it. He's already a real American hero.
  • A Better Class of Criminal
    Aaron Eckhart or some unkown.

Meachal C. Hall would be a really good choice too though, now that I think about it.
  • ECKHART.

I don't care how weird it would be for Two-Face and Cap to be played by the same man.
  • J.D.
    @ Fab.

Take a chill pill. It's not a whites-only world. Whites are a minority on this planet.

I think the main reason Will Smith was downplayed is because he JUST made a superhero film that nobody watched.
  • Hendo
thank God it's not Smith... so anyway.
I think it would have to be an unknown. They need someone who is young and most of these names being thrown around would be way too old by the time they got around to a third movie assuming they go: Captain America origin (gets frozen in the artic at the end) -> defrosted in the beginning of the Avengers movie -> Avengers sequel or another solo CA movie depending on which of the first 2 did the best.
